This was my fisrt attempt at woodturning a tri-corner bowl from a cube. I used my last piece of 8/4 walnut scrap to make this piece. Even though I had some issues with the pressure pot, I am very pleased with how this piece turned out. I was a little nervous about turning a cube mounted on the corners, but in the end I was nervous for no resean. This was a fun piece that pushed the limits of my comfort zone. After seeing the finished product in my hands, I have some better ideas for how I would make this style piece next time. As always, thank you for watching and I hope you have a wonderful day! Scott

As a carpenter, learning to be a craftsman I know mistakes are the best way to learn and improve my craft. Problem solving leads to so many new ideas. Keep it up mate. You are inspiring.
Mistakes happen at the worst possible time; however, I see nothing but a piece of art that deserves its own pedestal in an art gallery. What an epic piece you crafted. Am still in awe at your creativity.
@squareandlevel Scott, I truly appreciate your creativity and craftsmanship and wish you and yours a blessed week. Really thank you for sharing your video with us.
I understand why you say "mistakes were made" but seeing what you've done I can't help thinking that one person's "mistake" is another's object of beauty. Thanks for sharing! 👏👏👏👍👍🏴🏴
Luckily this guy helped me out setting up my camera and gives awesome camera advice on his channel. Thanks for everything mate. Hope you have a great day.
Thanks Cam. Was pretty disappointed when I found out all the air leaked out. In the end it makes for an interesting piece and I was able to practice some damage control. Have a great day sir Scott
Great results! I'm glad it worked out so well, thanks to your skilled repair. I have never been able to get my pressure pot to hold properly to the point that when I used to cast I would leave my compressor on and the regulator set so that it had unlimited reservoir of air until it had cured.
Outstanding Sir. Beautiful Walnut. Blue was a great choice and the resin is understated, doesn't overshadow beautiful wood. Amazing work. I'd be interested in this piece if you ever decide to market them. Thanks
You did good. Love the finished shots, very creative. Also It does look so awful when it first starts spinning with that weird air gap turning. I know you were thinking- is this what I really want to do? great video
The bubbles were not what you wanted but the texture and gradient they give to the blue is actually quite lovely. It is a happy accident. I'm glad you decided to work it and that it could be done safely.
Your woodwork is allways absolutly amazing!!! Only: your blue epoxi allways and allways!!! Sad and boring... thought... yeah... silver... great... and... what happens: blue again.... and so everything is blue!!! 😮
Amazing work!! I’m blown away by your craftsmanship! What was the tool you were using right after you added the pigment and CA glue midway through the video?
Thank you! That was the simple scraper with a negative rake carbide insert. There is a link in the description. Thanks for watching. Hope you have a great day.
0:20 that filing angle makes it look like you're trying to wiggle your hand to the side of the blade o.o I'm sure it's above the blade but looked dangerous 😅
Are you ‘painting’ the finished bowl with clear resin to get that glass like shine? If so how do you stop it from simply running off? How many coats did you give it? Great piece!
I’m using a UV cured finish ( there is a link in the description if interested). Just apply and let it settle and level for a few minutes and hit it with the UV light and it cures in minutes. I haven’t been using it long but it is my new favorite. Thanks for watching. Hope you have a wonderful day! Scott
That is a very nice piece of work. Like the whole concept and admire very much your precision. Subscribed. I have to ask, though (And I could ask this same question of many other wood craftsmen on UTube) ; Why BLUE? It looks nice but did you consider: Dark Green, Gold, Black, Deep Red? With or without gold speckles.
Thank you for the kind words. Much appreciated. Your question about the blue made me laugh. I try to mix up the colors I use in each video and no matter what I choose, people say I should have considered a different color. Definitely can’t please everyone every time. The only constant is nobody likes black, and that is what I feel looks best. What can I do. Regardless thanks for the sub and for watching. I hope you have a wonderful day. Scott
I am not. Seem to get that question fairly often. Is it the logo design I made or the channel name? I guess I can see some similarities. Thanks for watching, I hope you have a wonderful day. Scott
@@squareandlevel Yeah, our main symbols in Masonry are the Square & Level. It’s a pretty darn close to the same as you have yours. So both. lol Don’t change anything! Looks great! I’ve been a Mason for a little over 10yrs now and that was my first thought seeing the channel name. Great channel btw. Just came across it last night. You have a good one too. 🤘🏻

Thank you for presenting your woodturnings... highend!!!
That's more than comfort zone... that's special arts!!!
Mistakes or not, you made a beautiful bowl. I love watching and learning from you. Hopefully I’ll learn from my own mistakes.

I guess that next time you do maintenance on your pressure pot that you'll pressurize it to check for problems before you use it?

Oh, we got a carpenter here trying to be a DIYer now lol.

I'm glad you were able to salvage this piece. Looking at the finished project, you would never know you had an equipment issue. Nice.
Thank you!
Good to see and hear the voice of the genius, another masterpiece… peace
What I love is being 75% through the video, and having no idea what the end result will be!
Glad to learn that I'm not the only one!!!!!!😁
When it first starts spinning on the lathe, the cube gave me strong, "Hellraiser" vibes.
There may have been mistakes, but I think that's one of the most beautiful pieces you've made. Absolutely love it!
Wow. I admire your dedication, focus and patience on this piece. It paid off. beautiful end result, I love the shape. 👍👍👍

Mistakes may have been made, but it turned out great. I like the effect of the resin.
Very nicely done and finished, despite the pressure failure. I have not tried the cube either, thanks for the inspiration as always. Stay safe.

And the moral of this story is, next time you clean and reseal the valves on the pressure pot, test the seals before using the pot.
does this start as a square ?
Yes!
I think matte finish would look better in this piece.
Интересно, красиво. Одного жаль-много ореха ушло в отходы. И не совсем понятно, то что вроде бы нарезал кубики, а складыаал параллелепипеды
Mistake my a…… Great looking bowl or whatever anyone wants to call it.
I really thought it was going to fly off the lathe a few times
Who never make mistakes,
learn nothing for the life.
Warum Druck und nicht Vakuum?
😀😃😁👍👍👍👍
Change the title! Mistakes are relative but the 'mistake' you talk about made no difference at all.
Would you happen to be a traveling man?
