ATTENTION PLEASE First you need to change iPhone settings/Photos /Transfer to Mac or PC from 'Automatic' to 'Original file'. After this setting is changed, You need to unplug the USB cable, start it all over and then IT WORKS !!!

I can transfer photo's no problems, but videos.... it comes up with an error.
I got mine to work! I had to use the usb cable which came with my iPhone 11. When I used the one with my iphone 6+, it wasn't working, and I was getting the error code..

Ed Perez yes. Go into your settings and change the photos from automatic to keep original
if it's not working for you:
Update iPhone drivers: Open Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Look for Apple iPhone under the “Unspecified” section > Right-click on it, choose “Properties” > Click the Hardware tab> Choose change settings button > Click on the Driver tab and Update Driver.
edit: mine still didn’t end up working ran into further problems, got tired of troubleshooting and just ended up using icloud lol, super simple that way

Does that work in reverse? Like if you want to put photos from your computer onto you iPhone? I mostly do photography and it was a pain in the butt to transfer photos on to the iphone because of iTunes. I ended up switching to Android for the simple drag-and-drop into folder. Not sure if the process has changed since the last time I owned one.

@lovin' rats forever that's one reason I don't want to go back to Apple. I can't stand the restriction on just simply transferring things between your phone and computer or any other computer without iTunes and all that garbage.

I read that HD videos over 15 minutes long can not be transferred by cable. Apple used to block them from transferring unless it is via wifi...? I tried the Simple Transfer app and its a total rip off! You have to upgrade the useless software after you see how close you are to actually getting your videos downloaded for free. I HATE RIP OFF MARKETING LIKE THAT! There must be some free software that doesn't rip you off OR at least some software that tells you the price up front. Update: I signed into iCloud and downloaded all off phone easily (yes I’m a slow learner!) but there is one option

Did u try a diff cable? If so and same problem then make sure ur charging port is clean. I have a vid somewhere on my channel how to clean it.

@@WorldofTech I did all that and still not working. I can see the photos on computer but if I try to transfer them I get the message that say (phone is not detectable) something along those lines. Frustrating because it did work a week ago.
When I look at the videos I have made through these folders; they only last about 3 seconds each when I know I have videos a minute or even longer. I would rather not have cut segments of the videos I have made. Is there any other ways I can just directly load them to my pictures file on my Windows PC? It has worked with one of my older iPhones but I am struggling majorly with my new iPhone. Or is this Apples way to make me update my storage on my cloud?

I see that a lot of you get an error and can't transfer directly... I had that too and solved it.
So, you have to go to SETTINGS to your phone, then PHOTOS and then at the bottom select KEEP ORIGINALS... That will solve your transfer problem.
Also, if you want to solve the encoding problem many people stumble upon in various software, go to SETTINGS > CAMERA > FORMATS > MOST COMPATIBLE.

@@lukaparac this did not work either it states the device is still unreachable or i get a message stating a device connected to the system is not functioning.
Try doing it with another iPhone cable...
And an extra tip I wrote in another place (might or might not mean, but hey...):
"If you are using iCloud Photo Library and "Optimize Storage" is enabled in the Settings > Your Name > iCloud > Photos & Camera, then you cannot download the phtos any longer from the iPhone by using a USB connection to the computer. With the photos stored in iCloud and "Optimize" on, only a fraction of your photos will be stored on the iPhone and be showing in the Import panel on your computer. In that case you need to use iCloud to download the photos from the iPhone to your computer or atleast disable "Optimize Storage" and keep all photos stored on the iPhone in full resolution."
Doesn't work for me. When I plug it all in and iTunes automatically opens and when I turn iTunes off the iPhone doesn't show up in my list of devices in Finder so no way to look for the pictures. Can't get the iPhone pics to my Mac Book Pro so no way to do anything with them. Very disappointing.

iTunes sucks ass - hate it - after getting my first iPhone 4s - I NEVER got another iPhone - my work just sent me an iPhone 14 pro - so here we go again - glad I won't have to use their "proprietary" software to access my own pictures and content and my own phone to my own laptop without Apple controlling them. You have to make sure your phone is unlocked.
This would be very simple, but nothing with iphone and files is simple. This does not work for videos, only for pictures!

I hate iphone. I have iphone 11 pro max now 512GB. In the last few years I ought iphone 6+, 7+ X+. Hated every one of them and got rid of each of them after one month. This time I decide to keep it. But every day I find new reason to hate it. Today the reason is the stupid way to transfer photos to and from PC. My last few phones were Andriod, HTCs. The way to transfer photos was connecting the phone and the PC with a USB cable and drag and drop the photos you want to transfer to and fro. I tried to do that with the iPhone. Of course it would not work. Then I realized that it's not that simple.
maybe Apple gains something from that complicated way. It would be just like them.
