38:43 Yeah, no, that moment blew my fucking mind. I had several ideas floating about on where this episode could go, but this was much too perfect for my feeble mortal mind to conjure. I mean, just think about it: this madlad went and transcribed the book fucking medieval monk style. Before the printing press was invented, the only way to copy books was by hand. Not just that, but copies of books or bibles were usually commissioned by a lord or noble. The holy text, bravely transferred into the digital realm by her fated one so that the silent princess shall find her voice. It's so fucking perfect it didn't even occur to me. It's like- if this was a dating sim, his rizz went so hard he broke the game to choose the 1000% approval option that wasn't even supposed to exist.
Just a clarification : Shizuka is not the one writing the books, it's just her favorite book series Edit : It becomes easier to introduce other girls for the ones already there, but he'll always be sweating when doing it
Shizuka is the best girl for me, that book loving loli deserves to be happy, the happiest of all I'm so glad the MC is such a great character, he didn't pressure her, he didn't try to force her to do anything, he just stayed there for her and helped her, i loved him writting the entire book just to help her, he really does deserve the love of the girls, and our love as well.
This show is so much fun. It's an absurdist comedy first and foremost, but the relationships with all the girls are all done really well, too. Rentaro is a Chad. Karane is my favorite. I've always been a sucker for tsunderes, and she strikes a good balance. I also like how she clearly cares about the other girls too
For some reason, I imagine that they wouldn't tell Rentarou if his love for them was beginning to wane, because they still care so much about him that they don't want him to commit sepuku. Besides, there are healthier and more constructive ways to atone than death.
Japan and a good mental health? That's a good one! But yeah, Shizuka and her mom are a delicate subject. Because we know the way she acts is wrong, but then you consider the whole social stigma that Japan as a whole have against anything mental related and that can screw with someone's perception of reality. Specially because Japan has such a big concept of "if you are different, you are a problem"
Adding in the whole: "You have a problem, well keep it to yourself" and the other concept (that most in other countries in the west would considered dated since this goes back pretty much to the era of Samurai and Warlords) is "Any problems in your household reflects poorly on the entirety so if the child is a problem straighten them out by any means" To the Japanese there is no concept to them that I've ever heard like there is in at least America where we can have that whole "It takes a town to raise a kid" or what have you. Its up to the elders and parents of the clan or family to keep everyone in line and make sure they honor the family bar none, or something to that effect Thats where we get story arcs and character arcs like those around the Uchiha Clan and Hyuga Clan from Naruto or the whole idea of Orihime and her brother living on their own and then just Orihime by herself even before graduating high school Or all the other family and honor themes thrown around like its out of style in other animes and manga, its that ingrained into their culture even if it can come off as kinda unhealthly in certain parts (mostly mentally) to those of us in Western countries and cultures
can i recommend a really good anime to do an analysis on? it’s called orange. it’s probably the best representation that i’ve seen of depression from any anime. it’s seriously something special and it’s such a great blend of sadness and happiness that i’m sure you’re bound to enjoy it.
Ah yes. The episode that made me cry during the whole thing. So familiar to home and cause she is my favorite girl. Shizuka ♡♡♡. Ahem, I may have cried cause of how adorable she is too... I regret nothing
The fact that TsunTsun was worried about ThirstThirst, when she thought she was crying ❤❤❤

I agree, while there's a lot more romcom stuff with the others, shizuka is just so awesome. You've gotta love her
Imagine crying to some harem anime about guy having 100gf
could be me fr fr
Fr fr 😭😭
I just realized that Rentarou is to romcom what Saitama is to battle shounen.
lmao good analogy
I don't think anybody expected this story to be so good 😭
WE NEED TO PROTECC SHIZUKA
She only deserves the best.
Agreed

He is the ultimate giga chad
Chadtaro
is is not the giga chad, he is the type of person the giga chads aspires to be one day

I like this episode. That is all.
All hail the chad king himself! I wonder how girls would feel if they got a guy whose even a SMIDGEN of rentarou's chadliness.
