I was in china in May, and I'd like to say as much as we have really great offering is South Africa, the ones in china are light years ahead, styling, powertrain, technology. It would be great if the Chinese market offered more different brands
Dave! Great to see you doing your thing mate! It's been a minute. Just purchased the Tiggo 8 ProMax AWD. What a great car. Thanks to all the positive reviews from the cars team, gave me alot of piece of mind in purchasing the new vehicle.
The Chinese cars are seriously great value. Much better than buying from a European brand, that's for sure. BTW when are you guys coming out with another China Chat video?
Geelie's iCar have 2 versions now (iCAR03 and iCARV23 recently launched) so the smaller one (V23) should be cheaper if it also comes to SA. I doubt they will be converted to ICE as they are designed as a EV. Great to get some first hand feedback. Tell us about the other brands coming as well please.
@@DavetheCarGuy what I like about Jetour is that every model looks different from the other . It’s not like there is a small , medium and large version that looks the same with just another name and few features extra.
@@BubblesTheCat1 Yeah, they do. They're dependable. I know a lot of people who have them, and they've hardly had any issues. Only problem is fuel consumption though.
Can they rather bring diesels these petrols are just way too heavy 😂 You have to be brave to try the electric cars we just don't have the infrastructure.
The Chinese cars are not cheap enough to take the risk. Unless you are hypnotised by the gimmicks of a touch screen, there is no long term compelling reason to risk what little money we have available to us on the unknown. Fuel economy is another issue which seems to suck our remaining pennies way.
@@Dank-One They have hardly been out 5 years. When I buy a car it must last 20+ years trouble free or at least 350k km. That is why i choose Japanese. I dont doubt they have some nice designs and finishes and they have certainly improved since 10+ years ago. I just dont think they meet my requirements just yet. They are not really that cheap either.
@weetbix2083 They'll never hold up like a Corolla, Camry, Hilux or Landcruiser. I don't care who says what. In twenty year's time they'll all be gone and scrapped. I still drive a 2000 Corolla, trouble free, every single day of my life. I will NEVER EVER buy a Chinese pos. Never😠
@@Dank-OneThat's people who've had them for less than 5 years, and who knows absolutely nothing about cars 🙄 They're probably even worse than French, Italian and Korean cars, and all mechanics know what crap they are.

Is the Jeacoo J7 coming in a hybrid ? Very interested

Jetour coming too! Offroad brand, righ-hand drive production begins this year.

1:12 I literally hate the grill of the omodas currently in SA it’s honestly horrendous but this actually looks really good.
Chinese cars their really get better and better.

That omoda has been recalled in Malaysia 3 times because of a weak subframe, last year it was substandard parts. Not worth the cost
Malaysian factory at fault here. Not the parent brand.
@@DavetheCarGuy ok, but it will wait 5 more years before I consider a china made car.
@@MKL_D 🤔Sounds like you're distrusting Chinese made cars.....not just the Omoda you initially mentioned.
When you boys doing review for Jeacoo J7
As soon as we get one to drive!
Update! We filmed the J7 today.
@@DavetheCarGuy awesome bro when you planning to post review thanks
You're better off asking a fortune teller from the 30s what your car's driving range is than looking at CLTC estimates. Crazy optimistic!
The Omoda is PROPER LELIK
Supa-Dave!
Is there any news on the Omodas subframe failure.
Malaysian factory building the Omoda C5 had a lapse in production. Doesn't affect SA spec cars.
@DavetheCarGuy Thank You. So where are the ones imported into South Africa manufactured.
@@BOBBY-et9xb Factory in Wuhu, Anhui Province, China

Nothing better than Volvo!!!
As per our telephonic conversation... HAHAHA!
The partners approve.
1:50 ok so 1.6 hybrid 445kw is BS

yep im a vehicle inspector and the new chinese cars arent holding up so well to wear and tear
Well they have extremely good reliability according to the surveys I saw and the people I know who have them.
