- Ott being Over The Top for those who don't know. You will have to watch the full video to find out my thoughts on this, but one thing is obvious, the Jaecoo J7 is bound to ruffle feathers. It offers customers a crazy amount of bang for their buck!

Wholesome content, as someone with kids we need Lucas more in the back seat.
"How old are you now...." lol
Touchscreen in cars SUCK! They're dangerous and frustrating! Try enabling a setting on a bumpy road, grrrr. Great, honest, entertaining review BTW, and more Luca please.
I test drove a Chery Tiggo Pro 7 Max. Beautiful vehicle. But I reckon I would last about 30 seconds before I drove off the road, trying to press thingies on the touch thing. Ps. Try to bring in your boy more in future reviews. Kids always have the most interesting things to say.
On the flip side, you only need to setup your features once and most likely not while you driving. Like any other brand with similar tech you will not be scratching for feature once you get familiar with it 👍
Are we there yet. Mommy drive so slow Luca complained
I think you need more time with the vehicle. You're review is how most feel for the first time.... Theres a lot of shortcuts including voice activation for the heated seats, aircon, navigation.... The features are brilliant and luxury. Love the vehicle, wouldn't change it.
Also, quality wise, everything comes from china now days... A lot of your old well known brands included.
I admit do admit in the video that I need more time with a car, but I know one thing for sure, the voice activation almost made me drive it off a cliff. Which is the case with most voice activation systems in any brand. I just want an old school button!
Personally not a fan of these brands but i like that it swallowed the ego/ dominance that the german and Japanese brands tended to make South Africans believe.
Their mindset has shifted tremendously though not so much VW.....
Usually, it either you pay the price they asking or walk away.
So, i like the variety and competitiveness it adding to these so called dominant brands.
Nice review❤
It's baffling that you're not allowed to drive while operating your mobile phone but can drive while operating a giant phone-like contraption on the dash. The honest truth is that you have to go through menus and sub-manus to perform the most mundane tasks like turning on the a/c or changing radio stations. Buttons make more sense from a safety point of view because they're more intuitive and as a result a lot of tasks can be performed without taking your eyes off the road.
😂 Kids are adorable. Say Hi Lukey. 😅 HI Lukey 😂 so sweet
I can’t wait to see the Jaecoo 7 when it lands to the UK later this year. It should be the first Chinese pure combustion-engine SUV to be put on sale in the UK with the option of AWD.
"Inferno" has Ford Kuga vibes.
😂😂😂
Three hoorah's to you fir being honest to say you the touch screen...
Lmao the Jäegermeister history🤣🤣🤣🤣 hopefully one day you will share with us
As always, brilliant review
Julette, how about using backdrops and scenery other than the Atlantic Seaboard? The Boland, Clarence Drive. Only a stone's throw away. Sea Point Promenade been overdone
at R25/l I'm not sure it's financially worth the expense to shift locations, remember she is shooting these in her free time and personal expense. Plus it could be way worse than Chapmans if we are being real. I don't know about you but I don't throw stones 50-120km away. Maybe I should work on my arm strength as Juliet works on monetizing her reviews so she can satisfy you with location shoots.
Make money and eat 😂 that’s life Luca ❤
Hi Luca! 🤪
I like the car's color, it's very nice.
That's it though, can't stand the big tablets on the dashboard, I really hope that trend will end someday.
Me too!!!!!!!!!
I'd like Luca's opinion as well, please.
Loved the intro. Cute ☺️
These brands are where the Korean brands were 10-15 years ago in terms of refinement....so we gave the Koreans the benefit of the doubt, why not the Chinese.
Koreans earned their respect by building up since the 1980's. Most of these Chinese companies are brand new or barely a decade old. You can see it ITO refinement everything skin deep and below. They also hired top German designers and offered industry leading warranties.
The Chinese manufactures will get there eventually especially with EV's. Their ICE powered vehicles are abysmal.
@@rnburley their latest EV's and PHEV's are excellent according to overseas motoring reviews and they have superior battery technology.
@@rnburley What makes them abysmal? Are the newer ICE Chinese (Geely, Chery Tiggo 8) still considered abysmal?
@@anderacpharmd yes they are because the mechanicals of Chinese vehicles are rubbish, to be a CAR you have to do CAR first, not slap on massive amounts of tech and fix things with software updates.
@@garybloom7445 but don't ALL car makers do so (Software Updates) ? TESLA / VW / FORD my ex AUDI ....etc etc , Recalls to fix things happens to every car maker !
How good is towing? Can it handle a large caravan
Hi juliette can you do the ford territory next please
Hey Juliet, I think you forgot power and torque figures.
I luv the color and look of this car....but i know its going to be heavy on fuel and how long will it be in the country before it disappears
NO , I dont know what these reviewers do regarding fuel consumption but mine in town in ECO gives me 7.4L/100Km in town, Open road at 120Km/H about average of 8.4 depending if I go Up or down (Durban to JHB and other way around) , I do drive like an old fart though :)
Go Luca. Are we there yet. 😊😊😅
Who is buying a car for 20 years these days, if you are stick to Toyota or something like that but these cars are not targeted at those people. Younger people have different needs and these cars speak to those needs. I've noticed majority of the people who are hell bent on discrediting the Chinese brands are either older people who are stuck in their ways or young people who don't know how to think for themselves and make decisions for themselves.
Chery is going to build electric cars for jaguar Landrover
If you can operate a cellphone while you drive, you should be fine. Lol. That's why South Africans will love it.
Those potholes! Did you film this in Kenya??
I was wondering exactly the same thing, not great sound insulation? That road is not pothole-ridden by any means…
@@MrMartinHattingh I was hoping she'd at least acknowledge it, but I suppose she needs the money.
Need hybrid and black roof liner. The fuel economy ain’t good on J7
Disagree , your idea high/low Fuel consumption vs mine might be different ...see my reply to @vvr881
"So that I can make money so we can eat"😂😂😂😂
Can we turn off the 'Driver Monitoring System'? It's kinda annoying
At best turn the Alarm Sound to low , Flicker sound will also go softer.... That way it's not so intrusive and you dont have to disable Driver Monitoring everytime ...
Resale value will be horrendous. Save a buck now, and get penalised with the resale value. And that doesn't factor in the interest costs.
Checked bmw, audi and merc lately and their resale values..?.... Personally I hate the Chinese stuff, but people buying cars have changed and they no longer hold onto them for years and years.. But I agree.... These cars are going to be flooding the secondhand market as people won't be able to sell them....
Are you buying car just to sell it back in few years? If yes, please look for other car, Chinese car & German premium car is not suitable for your view. Please go for japanese car
Luke was cute ❤😂
Surface level 😂😂😂 yeah, i agree😂😂😊
What about the car seems "skin deep" I wonder?
I always enjoy Juliet's reviews, but I find them a bit "skin deep"-more of an overview than an in-depth look at the car. I love watching Paul at CarExpert on RUclips (www.youtube.com/@CarExpertAus); his reviews are how I think they should be. That said, Jaecoo will still be launching in Australia so no review there.
I feel like all these moans about touchscreens aren't addressing the symptoms of the problem. Why do people need to constantly fiddle with the A/C while driving? It has Climate Control...it should be controlling the climate. It should be set and forget which has always been my experience with Climate Control so is there a problem with the Climate Control not doing it's job...or is this just moaning for the sake of moaning?
It's not about just about the a/c only though, it's everything from changing the climate, to changing radio stations and songs to accessing various driving modes. It can become very destructing very fast.
@@Mash-Up777 I think it’s only an issue because reviewers don’t own and actually live with the cars and therefore never get use to it. Any new car is distracting until you learn your way around things, whether physical buttons or otherwise. Also most offer shortcuts and customisable dashboards that once setup makes it straight forward as can be.
A button is a button; whether real or fake. Learning where it is will always take some time.
It sounds a bit like old people complaining when phones first went all touchscreen all over again.
@@SauRoNZA i agree with @Mash-Up777 , Once you get the hang of where everything is, using it becomes as easy as navigating a cell phone (quick). Plus, with the Jaecoo J7's big screen, it's much easier to see and press the right buttons-especially if you need a little extra help seeing things clearly!
Plus on this car you really don’t have to fiddle with the controls. You simple tell the car what settings you want and it does it for you.
@@simelanem yeah people are just stuck in the old fashioned ways of doing things.
Tell Luca his mom's age is none of his business 🤣
Mmmyeah "How old are you now..." actually!? 😅
Mom, How old are you now? 😂
Cute man
For me it's the tech..... The tech is trying to take your mind off the fact that the Chinese cars all have terrible mechanicals..... To be a car you first have to be able to do what a car does......
😂 😂 😂 😂 Bro still talking about Chinese cars from 2002
😂
Dominating? Maybe for everyday platkars. Inferno, wasn’t that a Ford model at one point!?😂. All of the Chinese cars downfalls are the idiot centre screens and engine fuel consumption, nvh levels
Everyone said Huawei was doomed to fail too and instead now Oppo, Honor, Mi, and multiple others have joined. My dad told me about Isuzu, Toyota, and Nissan having the same issues Initially on introduction to the SA market with many saying they wouldn't last... well we know how that ended. Let's see what these cars do, if nothing else they will slow down the ridiculous price increases in legacy brands...
@@Jay.D.Smithy as I rely on my vehicles to be on the road I have seen a few friend buy these omoda’s , tiggo’s and such over here last few years including a few p1’s. So far after two years I have heard of many breakdowns including where they loose the entire rear axle. No thanks, especially when you have no backup car when these things sit in a workshop for over 3 months. Do you remember the first Tiggo’s? At the time a friend of mine bought one new and I bought a second hand Mitsubishi with 75k km on it. His fell apart in 3years and 60k km while my Mitsubishi ended up being written off after 5 years and 300k km on top of the 75kkm. He babied that car and I used mine all over SA. Same thing is happening now where my beaten up old a Freelander 2 has nearly 400k km on it and my friends P1 and his Omoda have both being back multiple time for errors. Proof is in the pudding, or show me a 3 year old one that has 120k km on with the cost to run including fuel consumption.
@seanfenwick uhm okay , Let's see , Ford/VW huge Idiot screens in the Amarok/Rangers, Volvo big idiot screen EX30 , Benz S-Class, Porche Taycan (HUGE) , Audi A8 , BMW I7 etc etc , your're right , They all idiots for having centre(big) screens - NOT.
@@evertbez7308 all those cars you mentioned have button controls except for the Volvo. The Chinese car require you to actually use the touch screen while the others provide alternative physical buttons..so maybe fact check..
Rather do one in hilbrow best cenery
Cars are too expensive to take a risk with regards to resale value, warranty and parts availability and pricing. These cars are cheap for a reason. I would rather buy less VW for the same price or a one year old demo legacy brand. As for the touch screen, most if not all settings should be done before starting your journey. Maybe time to start rating systems that can be used via steering wheel controls, voice or a controller like BMW iDrive.
You know Polos start at 350k these days...
Calling the Chinese cars cheap isn't really true, they have quickly increased in price and people are just accepting it because they're "cheaper" than the German stuff.
@@Jay.D.Smithy This car is R680k. Tiguan money. 2 year old BMW X3 money.
@@garybloom7445 “Cheap” is a relative term and that is how I meant it. Cheaper than traditional brands. For R680k there are a lot of choices and I personally would not buy one of these Chinese brands. A new Volvo XC40 would be a much better buy. That being said, a car purchase is very subjective and each customer makes their own choice.
