i'm planning on getting one in Malaysia this august but the fuel consumption seems high... any advice on alternatives/ how does the J7 hold up against others in terms of economy in this department

The price of the Inferno AWD makes it hard to swallow in comparison to the range. R70k more for AWD, Privacy glass and a heated steering wheel. I would get the Glaicer or at that price a Tiggo 8 Pro Max for a much bigger vehicle with a very similar feature set. The Jaecoo is big, but the boot space for me is slightly disappointing compared to my Tiggo 7 Pro which is bigger although similar size. It is a great car, i would get it but probably it would be my own personal car and not family use and then get a bigger 7 seater as a family car.

I saw an all blacked out one, very stealthy. Also at 1:08 the rear kinda...looks like the Suzuki Grand Vitara, I'd say it almost the entire car looks like the Grand Vitara

That's a tough choice... but it all depends on on your choice of styling. The Chery also have more buttons inside, rather than a TV screen.

That was my first thoughts as well... with that price you can get a good second hand Toyota Fortuner or Ford Everest with low mileage, with more functionalities for off road, towing capability and more reliability.
