This is a Dream analysis for Dream on the Dream SMP. People in the Dream SMP includes Technoblade Dream SMP and TommyInnit Dream SMP. After the $100,000 Dream vs Technoblade Duel! This is Dream SMP explained for the character of Dream. Dream explained. The Dream SMP explained in detail one could say. A detailed analysis of the character of Dream. I reckon Technoblade vs Dream will happen at some point in the Dream SMP. Not 100% sure though. TommyInnit's exile is a key part of this video.

I feel dream was completely justified in opposing Wilbur when he pushed for independence. L'manberg inspired others to rise up, creating more division, war, terrorist attacks, etc. Dream really wasn't an oppressive leader until recently, when he felt he was losing his power. There was no reason for any faction besides the Dream SMP to exist.
I also understand why Dream is acting like a dictator now. He tried being benevolent, and look what that got him. Almost everyone has turned against him at some point. I know it's extreme, but in this case I do believe Dream is justified as long as when he has complete control he goes back to trying to be fair. The ends justify the means.
To be polite, I can’t really side with Dream’s character in this argument. Something about “the ends justify the means” being used in the context of the manipulation and gaslighting of children, often to get them to the point of near suicide, torturing people “for fun,” taking advantage of people’s weak mental states to weaponize them, and generally not caring what happens to people as long as you get control just doesn’t really sit right with me. Still an interesting character tho

@@melodytheatre2887 yes, I do agree with you on that, that was kind of an ignorant statement on my part, however I can understand why dream feels he has no other choice, or he has just completely lost it (the character, not the actual person) and is trying to do the right thing but his mental state mixes violent and insane tendencies with good motives.
I feel since the black mailing by Tommy he has just been getting everyone to unite against him.

the only thing we need to get answers: Dream's POV
I believe the story of the dream character is one of a fallen hero similar to anakin skywalker. dream. who wanted to bring peace and order to the smp but was meant with constant resistance. In order to combat the resistance he had to resort to darker means until completely falling to the “dark side”. I believe that dream is the fallen hero. Dream’s complete fall I think was when he resorted to using ranboo as a puppet and blew up the community house. Like a Sith Lord dream has let go and destroyed all things that he loves.

He started with good intentions, but when he tried to make peace by punishing Tommy for causing chaos, but for doing that he was painted as a villain. His attempts at making peace eventually evolved into becoming desperate for any sort of power he could get as he sees everything spiralling into chaos and war, he wanted control. And because of that, he became a villain while believing he was in the right, though his intentions had became corrupt.

I think from his point of view, there's definite justification. And that whole prison progression is such cool symbolism, I'm a big fan. This is a really interesting analysis and I like most of the conclusions you come to but I kinda wanna see how his relationship with his friends and helpers comes into this. There's a lot of moments in which Dream looks out for the people on his side (ranging from small things like knocking George and sapnap away from the initial explosion in l'manburg to taking away George's kingship to protect him) and sure, one could argue that he might be manipulating them to think he cares but I don't think that's the case. In the talk with Punz (who he acknowledges he pays so there's no reason to create a guise of friendship) he talks about seperating himself from punz to protect him and I just feel like that would have an interesting relationship with how he is acting now and more importantly, how his arc will end. He's a character that plays around with those that oppose him yet cares so much for a set group of people and I feel like that adds this interesting delusional aspect to his character. He believes he's doing right by the majority of characters in the end. (Idk most of this is because I want smp dream to have a downfall where he realizes he's pushed away the people around him but probably won't happen haha)
I kinda feel like he is realizing. With the time he has spent in prison, maybe he reflected a little. Tommy asked him how he was feeling, Dream said he felt sad. Tommy asked if he missed anybody, but Dream didn't answered and made Tommy leave. I kinda feel he does realize all the damage he's done to the people he cares (possibly secretly) for. But I mean, he's been there for like 3 days. Maybe the only reason he's feeling sad is because of how much power he used to have and how he lost it all due to his far fetched desires. I feel like that is more likely, but idk, rp Dream has always been a mystery to sort out, a very weird and jagged puzzle.
@@nyom6378 that's definitely true, we never know with smp dream. It's probably because we don't have any streams from his perspective so he's just this force of evil for the sake of evil with only the motives he's told us outloud. I hope prison arc gives us more emotional smp dream content too
Dream just wanted peace, Tommy caused chaos. Dream punished Tommy, and then Tommy was painted as a hero. Dream wanted peace, instead a government that encouraged division and wars was put into place. He went too far with trying to make peace, since nobody was working with him, and it evolved into him becoming power-thirsty, and wanting control over everyone.
I believe he had good intentions at first, but things just went wrong and he became a villain while believing he was still in the right.
Just my view on it, I’m probably wrong in a lot of parts so please do correct me!

He went mad because Tommy was a jerk to him. Dream wants harmony, but has gone mad because no one wanted peace. They sort of set aside Dream, and it’s a shame.

I think that Dream was in the right until Wilburs corruption arc, although his methods became a little extreme at the start of the independence wars.

I believe Dream is a megalomaniac.
A megalomaniac is a person who is obsessed with their own power. Dream wants complete power over the server, and he’s willing to do anything to get it based on all his actions in the SMP.
Also obvious disclaimer but this is DSMP Dream, not real life Dream. Great video! All your videos are super fun to watch and well made!

Now that i think about it, dream could trap everyone on the server. He could make a several-layer obsidian prison around spawn and put an elder guardian underneath it. When people die, they will respawn with nothing but their fist and will have to mine through layers of obsidian with their fist and mining fatigue.

I think he always aimed at complete control from the beginning , also he has something more powerful than power itself : invisible power , yeah dream uses other people intest to achieve his goals , like deleting or containing people (like mentally (ranboo , tommy ) and soon physically ) , for example eret is the king of the smp but in reality dream as the power and the king is a decoy so he's not seen as a head leader that can be a target , let's take an other exemple : ranboo , dream used his second side to lock down the disc and destroy the community house to frame tommy , get back the disc , and have a legitimate reason to destroy l'manburg "for justice" and everything going unseen and unheard because ranboo can't remember anything plus he didn't touched anything , in the end he used technoblade to land the final blow , the checkmate with the queen . Dream is an evil genius who plays on a giant chess board where the only player is himself .

We don’t know if it’s power he wants or he just love to see other people hurt, yet the in the beginning he wanted a peaceful server but now he doesn’t care so why?
Also “Dream” does not have the Controls over the server that it’s just not Canon.
and many people in the SMP have confirmed that dream is not a powerful God that runs the whole server because if he was why aren’t more people scared of him?
Instead the one who rules the sever is ”DREAMxD” he is another account that dream created to moderate the sever.
I gotta disagree with the last bit there. DreamXD is just a fanboy account. Not the actual Dream.

He brought out something dream had attachment to which was like a spirit’s leather or something can’t remember and dream complied with tommy till he realized he himself was being controlled

What if the things that dreAm cares about are sapnap and George and only those.we haven’t rly really seen a lore that doesn’t prove that theory maybe dream says “he doesn’t care about anything” to prevent anything from happening to sapnap and George.
Maybe I'm interpreting wrong but it seemed Dream didn't really do anything unprovoked. He retaliated using very extreme (in some cases, unnecessarily excessive force) actions but most of his actions can be justified. Maybe he wanted to end the issue before it escalated. It’s not like he was the only one who committed atrocious things
Nah actually you make some good points. I reckon Dream wouldn't have done the things he did, or at least not to the extent he did them, if not for the actions of the people around him. Like Tommy for instance.
i kinda think of the discs simmilarly to the iron throne from "game of thrones" or the ring from "lord of the rings".

3:09 I’d like to note I think in the stream after that one after skeppy interacted with tommy and l’manberg and than he said to dream that he was completely in the right for doing what he did to them and that they were the worse people.
I personally think dream is still very just and fair with the people of the smp. You can go back before Tommy’s exile, tommy committed arson on the kings house something some would consider an act of war but dream jailed tommy and had a compromise with tubbo that Tommy’s punishment would be a 2 week probation. Than tommy wanted to have something over on dream trying to get away from his punishment blackmailing him with spirit. I think after that he set his sights on tommy full on. I think he realized that no matter what tommy would never listen and always fight back even when he’s in the wrong. That’s why it’s fun for him, he realizes no matter what tommy will always fight back even when he’s trying to be fair with him so now he just wants to destroy tommy

For some reason, I think that Dream's character has some kind of OCD because as far from what I know, it includes the fear of losing control and Dream wants everyone to be united and I supposed that triggers his "OCD" and that changed his personality.
(I don't really know that much about OCD but this has some correlation with Dream's Character and sudden change on his personality)

Dream is probably closer to a ruthless pragmatist than a sadist. He has a set goal to regain control of the server he once owned and is willing to do so by any means necessary, ignoring the people he destroys and leaving them behind. A sadist commits horrible acts because they find it appealing; Dream commits horrible acts in order to achieve his goal of retaking the server.
So essentially, any other character on the server.

BUT I don’t think bringing up real world mental health problems is good because they never made the character with the intent to Diagnose the character with said mental health problems and I understand your diagnosing the CHARACTER and not the PERSON but still i think the discussion should remain out of the mental health area because it was never meant to go there

I feel there is a bigger back story to dream. Though those things did happen and made him more willing to do whatever it takes to have full control, I feel like something happened to the character dream before the dream smp to make him strive for power and absolute control. For example, before dream smp, he was pushed around and didn’t have any say in anything, so he created the dream smp to have some control over someone else. And after seeing others gaining more control he had to stay on top because losing control, meant he had no control again.
Ahhh very good thoughts. Yeah I agree. While I was making this video, I really couldn't find much of a backstory at all, so making this wasn't the easiest thing.

After this analisis for me would make sense a great story arc with dream scaping prison and trying to use the egg to brainwash everyone, which plot device will the use for it?
