I remember searching up "Mario Creepypasta" as a kid on my DSi and came across this one night around midnight or something. I read through the whole thing while I was on the toilet. Hearing it now, I felt like it was like a murderer learned to mod and stuff and just put his crime as a game to anyone who finds it.

Just the description behind it, and the red filter over the already hidden and dark image, I can definitively say it's the only thing from a creepypasta that has legitimately made my stomach turn. Contact appears to have at least one eye, as there does seem to be light reflecting off of some darkened shape. No crater of gap in the eye socket would reflect in that matter. The right side of the face seems to be a severe burn. Showing how the mouth is gaping open, the body must be in a position where gravity would suspend the mouth from closing, either hung upside down or lay upon a flat horizontal surface. The rest of the right side seems corrupted, though could be a crisped hand reaching forward, or could have been severed. The shape of the head, however, does seem rather oddly shaped for a human. It’s curvature starts far too early at the back. This could have been caused by a massive impact to the back of the head by something heavy such as a shelf or, a long fall from a balcony or catwalk, explaining the odd shape. This very well could not have been a murder victim, but a burnt woman, who caught aflame and accidentally or intentionally ran off a higher platform. This could explain the eye shape, as they could’ve been burnt black, explaining why light still shines off of them.

I remember some sort of 4chan thread, perhaps on the /x/ board, which started with this image. Interestingly, though, it was uploaded independently, without any relation to Mario or a romhack. People speculated about the image and its metadata to figure out what exactly was going on, and there were even some fake posts (probably by unrelated people) about paranormal events happening outside their house as they researched the image. Interestingly, when they finally figured out the detail they had missed (something to do with the filename IIRC), they reached the conclusion that it was actually all a promotion for the original poster's band (it was death metal or something like that). If my memory serves me right, they even posted the original image which they edited the infamous red face from, and after that point the mystery was pretty much solved. Unsure if there's any correlation between that thread and this romhack, but I feel like it's good knowledge to have on the subject of this image either way.
