For the catacombs one, it is very easy to start to hallucinate when you are that frightened so the man could have been running from nothing considering nothing crossed the camera when he dropped it. The man also could have thought he saw something considering how dark it is down there so those possibilities are very likely.
It's much more likely the video is staged. Hell, I'll go one step further and say it's obvious that it's staged. The biggest giveaway is when the camera is "dropped." The fake static video effect clearly added in post, the sudden cut between the camera being held and lying on the ground. Why not show the part where the camera is actually dropped? The answer to that is obvious. We wouldn't wanna risk breaking the camera being used for a publicity stunt by actually dropping it, now would we? When viewing any sort of creepy footage which someone claims to be authentic, always ask yourself: Has the footage been doctored in any way? Well...the reason the robotics professor made creepy music videos like "I feel fantastic" is because the videos he made got infinitely more attention than they would have if they were just normal tech videos Tara the singing android is a straight-up internet legend. Wouldn't be nearly as famous without the videos.
The catacombs video is 200% staged/fake. I’m honestly shocked to see how many people take it seriously. Along with just being blatantly staged, the story of how the guy miraculously came across the perfectly undamaged video tape footage is very very suspect too. I’d bet my life savings he faked it himself.
Yeah, the video itself is pretty obviously fake. But the Catacombs themselves are still one of the most freaky places I know off. Being underground surrounded by thousands upon thousands of dead bodies is more than just spooky.
15:34 Somehow after all these years, you're the only person that has come up with an actual reasonable answer to this. Thanks for actually being rational and doing your research. Also great content in general.
The Reddit and RUclips horror era was epic because the way how these creepypasta are simple but create a haunting and curios enviroment is spectacular!!
The hole shown at 1:02 is where I crawled in to gain access to the catacombs in 2016. It's almost entirely mapped by cataphiles, not just 1%. There is a special police unit patrolling the tunnels. They sealed most of the entrances, the ones they know about, with heavy gates and padlocks just to still be able to access.
Early internet had some of the best horror. The best parts were not having any context for most of them.We only guessed and our imagination made them even scarier
Ngl, that "there is nothing" video is absolutely scary, i still remember until this day, i got terrible nightmare after watching it, even now I'm still feeling scared when watch that lmao
Man, people are crazy. These are clearly experimental film/art projects, even at face value. In a world where mystery makes money and things like found footage, ARG, and the like exist, it’s truly amazing that some people are just fully ready to believe this stuff. Then again, I was fooled by Blair Witch back in 1999 (I was also 11 years old).
Not everything you see on the internet is fake y'know, im not saying take everything at face value, but dont dismiss everything as just a "film project"

I have to say I really appreciate you going into details explaining the true origin of those videos, not leaving it at wooooo we will never knoooow, like 98% of youtubers would.
Do not, ever, go to the part of catacombs that's not meant for tourists. It's dangerous and there are people who live there. People not only have been hurt, but also have genuinely died there, because they got lost or trapped. To make matters worse, there's a large group of people who know illegal part of catacombs very well, and, like mentioned in the video, will rob you and scare you away. Not worth it.
bro that's such bullshit, i've been there with a group of young parisians who basically go down there regularly just to have beers/smoke weed/shoot the shit. also heard of people clandestinely DJing down there. ofc easy to get lost in if you don't know what you're doing, but we also stumbled into other explorers 3 times during the 4 hours we've been down there, i'd say roughly 22 PM to 2 AM, can't recall if it was workday or weekend, plus there are signs corresponding to streets above ground all over the place. still would be extremely dumb to venture in alone with no map and experience. i went down there in winter too, the temp inside is a humid +15 or so, much warmer than outside. the biggest pain in the ass was some passages halfway flooded with ground water, and some being so narrow that you have to take off your backpack to squeeze thru.
Blank room soup and I feel fantastic are still the most terrifying things I have ever heard of to this day, and I’m a really huge horror fan. Those just creep me out way too much.
I feel fantastic is the first video I have seen after I decided to explore the dark and mysterious sides of the internet....I can't even describe how uncomfortable it made and it still does till this day. Fucking creepy.
The explorer might have started to panic because he was slowly realizing his chances of getting out of there were becoming real low. Plus when you are that deep in a catacomb almost everrything becomes scary. From noises to anything visible. In such a state, the sensatiions becomes more active and sharper. Who is to say, he might not have had a supernatural encounter. It is clear the explorer was scared for his life.
True but as many pointed out, dropping the camera which was a source of light in the dark dank catacombs would lessen your chances of getting out or seeing where you're going & not running into walls in the dark. I'd doubt he'd have gotten far b4 having to go back for the camera. Assuming this is a true story which I have serious doubts as to it's veracity.
@@Amber-yq9ee I could see the explorer dropping the camera out of fear, and in their irrational state, they just kept going forward. If they were under the belief that someone, or something, was following them, turning back to grab their light source possibly didn't even crossed their mind. That being said, the part I struggle with is how the filming crew, or even the person who allegedly "found" the tape, never found the explorer. Like you said, they wouldn't have gotten that far in pitch black darkness. The filming crew had found some of the locations shown on the tape already, so they had a general idea of where the explorer ran to. If the entire recording was roughly 45 mins, and a good amount of it was after the camera had dropped, it would have greatly limit the search area. Even if the tape was legitimate, the part were they supposedly never found out what happened to the explorer was most likely fabricated for the show.
Growing up with these shit dont scare me now that im old, encountering them here is a nostalgic trip, makes me feel home despite the horror theme of the video.

I've come across these videos several times in the past and was left stumped with many questions. I'm glad that there's a video with satisfactory explanations to these.
If they didn’t find the body after exploring deeper in the catacombs after finding the camera than there is a chance the guy either got out or was never found, but I believe he died and his body was never found due to how the guy not only signed his own death warrant by throwing the camera away but also how he didn’t stop to rewind the footage so that he could retrace his steps and find his way out

What always makes me think with the catacombs is that if your from France and you manage to walk down there you are more than likely gonna walk past a few of your ancestors, like they’re down there with you
I wonder if the 'dropped camera' of the first catacombs story possibly was used as an effect in the 1999 Blair Witch movie..... The catacombs film was said to be filmed in 1993, but not publicly released until 2000...?
I’ve never seen Dining Room or There is Nothing before, but it definitely was hard for me to watch full on 😂 Even the artist’s explanation for making the video doesn’t make it less unsettling. They did a great job making such a dreadful video lol
I think the video on its own is crazy unsettling, but the explanation adds a sort of beauty to it. Maybe the meaning given makes it scarier for some people too

the glesgorv (even the name sounds ridiculously fake) video is not only scary enough to rip one’s eyes out, it’s quite normal and chill to some stuff other gore creators used to do in 2000-2010s
It always amazes me how easily some people are creeped out. I remember seeing all these at one time, and my response was a simple "well, THAT was weird" before moving on.
Creepiest thing i ever found on youtube in the early 2000’s: Footage that looked like legit leaked moon footage. Two astronauts were exploring what looked like a wrecked out building on the moons surface. What was creepy about it: 1. They moved like the astronauts in the old footage of the moon landing. 2. Their suits were apolo program suits. 3. The building was sized for humans and looked like it was from some unexplained intersection of the 70’s 40’s and 80’s. 4. The exterior looked like it was meant for normal planetary use. So wtf was it doing on the moon? 5. They did a pan shot to look at the lander near the building, they later took a shot of the lander outside the building through the front door from inside the building.
Ah, scary nostalgia. I remember around the mid-2010s looking for videos like this until midnight. Some of them were really scary and even until this day for me. Appreciate fot the creators of those videos.
If the catacombs footage isn't fake, I think a likely explanation is that the explorer may be suffering from carbon monoxide poisoning. The catacombs are deep underground, so air circulation gets worse and worse the deeper you get. It is fair to assume some parts of the catacombs are not safe to be inside for extended periods of time due to carbon monoxide build up. If the explorer was suffering from carbon monoxide poisoning, that would explain his labored breathing and erratic behavior. He would've essentially entered a fugue state and would be wildly running around the catacombs until he fell unconscious and passed away. If the footage is real, the explorer is certainly dead.
that robot lady still remains a mystery to this day. there were theories saying that the person is creep, a pyscho, a serial killer, etc. but i think it's just a normal dude who knows robotics and used it to scare people on the internet. we have to remember that when the video was out, it was in a time when youtube was still new and there were a lot of paranormal and creepy videos, also creepypasta was popular in those times. so like every youtuber today, that person took the opportunity to create something viral but ended up creating one of internet's greatest mysteries. whoever that person is, if you're reading this, i would like to thank you for making my childhood awesome. back then i used to sent those robot videos to my friends on facebook and freaked them out😂 edit: i wrote this before watching the video.
The catacombs video could simply be that the guy recording had panic setting in. The robbery theory is also really valid, since there's plenty of people going in to a secret spot. Some explorers have meeting locations where they hang out with people. There's even secret parties being held. Tho there's also a huge chance that it's a hoax video since the guy who supposedly got it from someone else, somehow managed to find the exact location where the video was shot. While the catacombs are supposedly massive
Good thing is that it's fake. This is a project by Persi (the creator of the costumes) because if it was real the story of the costumes being stolen then it would have been all over the news.
I'm surprised that the back rooms Community hasn't Incorporated the soup video into one of those found footage things, where the protagonist just all the sudden stumbles upon that room with the guy eating and the entity. Now that I think about it I think what makes it scary is that it sort of resembles the backrooms

The catacombs video is 200% staged/fake. I’m honestly shocked to see how many people take it seriously. Along with just being blatantly staged, the story of how the guy miraculously came across the perfectly undamaged video tape footage is very very suspect too. I’d bet my life savings he faked it himself.
I mean it was from a show on Syfy so there ya go.
Yeah, the video itself is pretty obviously fake. But the Catacombs themselves are still one of the most freaky places I know off. Being underground surrounded by thousands upon thousands of dead bodies is more than just spooky.
in water no less
Considering how the show stops once they reach the same area that the original video is from, the show itself probably was the one who staged it.

People actually live there? That's bananas
bro that's such bullshit, i've been there with a group of young parisians who basically go down there regularly just to have beers/smoke weed/shoot the shit. also heard of people clandestinely DJing down there. ofc easy to get lost in if you don't know what you're doing, but we also stumbled into other explorers 3 times during the 4 hours we've been down there, i'd say roughly 22 PM to 2 AM, can't recall if it was workday or weekend, plus there are signs corresponding to streets above ground all over the place. still would be extremely dumb to venture in alone with no map and experience. i went down there in winter too, the temp inside is a humid +15 or so, much warmer than outside. the biggest pain in the ass was some passages halfway flooded with ground water, and some being so narrow that you have to take off your backpack to squeeze thru.
OK not entirely bullshit it is dangerous to an extent as most fun things are anyway, just saying that the dangers are quite overhyped
Blank room soup and I feel fantastic are still the most terrifying things I have ever heard of to this day, and I’m a really huge horror fan. Those just creep me out way too much.

Sending your eyes somewhere after ripping them out seems to require a lot of steps that would be incredibly difficult if you no longer have eyes...
Those videos definitely creeped me out. Always know you’re going to get a good scare from Chilling Scares.
@@Amber-yq9eemaybe he was so scared that he dropped and thought more about saving himself. Not the video.

If they didn’t find the body after exploring deeper in the catacombs after finding the camera than there is a chance the guy either got out or was never found, but I believe he died and his body was never found due to how the guy not only signed his own death warrant by throwing the camera away but also how he didn’t stop to rewind the footage so that he could retrace his steps and find his way out

oh 2000s internet horror you will forever be famous 🙏
Creepiest thing i ever found on youtube in the early 2000’s:
Footage that looked like legit leaked moon footage. Two astronauts were exploring what looked like a wrecked out building on the moons surface. What was creepy about it:
I'm Hella intrigued by this, but I've never heard of it before

I Feel Fantastic makes me feel nostalgic rather than creeped out now 😭

that robot lady still remains a mystery to this day. there were theories saying that the person is creep, a pyscho, a serial killer, etc. but i think it's just a normal dude who knows robotics and used it to scare people on the internet. we have to remember that when the video was out, it was in a time when youtube was still new and there were a lot of paranormal and creepy videos, also creepypasta was popular in those times. so like every youtuber today, that person took the opportunity to create something viral but ended up creating one of internet's greatest mysteries. whoever that person is, if you're reading this, i would like to thank you for making my childhood awesome. back then i used to sent those robot videos to my friends on facebook and freaked them out😂
edit: i wrote this before watching the video.
