Easily one of my favorite romhacks/mods for any game just because of how effectively it makes you feel like you're going crazy just by playing the game like normal. Every time you go to a new area I swear it feels like you're losing your mind and I love that
It feels like eternally wandering in a maze, eternally moving to the next goal, praying for an exit. Like doing the same thing over and over. Like insanity.
I created the Floor 2B image at 7:25. When I was playing B3313 for the first time and stumbled across that room my brain stopped for a second it was trippy as hell. I kinda sort of hate that a fake SM64 room I made in google sketchup in 20 minutes outshines everything else I try to do but I'm also extremely proud and I can have a part in this amazing project.
Cool thing to mention, the version of the hack that is available currently is version 0.7. The finished version is supposed to be coming out sometime in the next couple of months. Considering that the current version has 140-145 stars, I can only imagine how large the finished version will be.
yeah surprisingly i only found out theres a new version being worked on after someone pointed it out in the comments. dont know if ill make a video on it but i will play it when it comes out, looks sick as hell
9:55 one of the most disturbing parts of this particular level is how it is implied that despite the rather barren and deserted feeling the open town has, there are still people around, albeit indoors. A few Bob ombs are outside and can be spoken to. But as I'm pretty sure one mentions, your arrival signals the inevitable fate of the quiet town of being made infinitely quieter, buried under a risen sea of water.
This game is kind of my worst nightmare. Being stuck, alone in an endless maze, no matter what effort I make to go back to the entrance, I only descend deeper into the castle, slowly going insane, never to see the light of day again. I’m fully convinced this romhack was inspired by creepy pastas.
When I say weirdcore, this is what I mean. It’s large, empty, vast, and not only is there hidden dangers but also a strange aura of safety as well. It’s like the personalization ai wants to mess with me but also comfort me, it’s a bit disorienting but I know it can’t hurt me, which makes it fun to play. I’m definitely checking out this hack as it is not only a weird and dreamlike experience but also a fun yet psychological quest.
It's absolute, pure dream material. Comforting, because your brain is pulling from what you know, and mario makes you happy; but uncomfortable and scary because you can just tell that something's wrong
One of my favourite things about the mod is just how fantastically it manages to merge beta content, creepypasta styled twists and gaming dreams into one massive surprising package. Some of the levels looked exactly how you'd dream them up as a child, I never played the OG SM64, but when I was really young, probably about 5 or 6, I can vaguely remember having similar dreams about Spyro the Dragon that were very similar to how some of the levels in this hack were presented and played. Dreams of me playing Spyro 2 and 3 and finding these brand new worlds and secrets, in a very similar way this hack transports you to random areas, I mean it, this mod absolutely nails that "childhood gaming dream" down extremely well. Likewise, the creepypasta aspect is very well done, I feel, some levels >are< just beta recreations, some >are< just based on our childhood dreams, but, the creepypasta twists are so unexpected. Like the Boo Courtyard changing into that deserted, empty void where there's nothing but wind blowing, or that sewer area that turns red and black with the figure staring at you in the distance. I like them because it gives you a feeling of unease, without being overly reliant on stupid, crappy jumpscares for the horror effect.
4:02 - 145 stars. If there were more discovered, I'd know about it, given I brought the total from 143 to 145 in the first place. 5:58 - Chris (the lead dev) didn't even know about LSD: Dream Emulator prior to releasing this version of b3313, nor did he know about Yume Nikki! 11:48 - Reasons why I committed almost everything to memory; trying to make a map is a lost cause for everyone except maybe the one designing it. 14:25 - A side-effect of pressing the yellow switch is removing your hat, alongside a bunch of weird things (giving some overworld-based stars, activating bowser 2 key I think). It's trippy as heck that the yellow switch can do stuff like that rather than just... crash the game. It can also prevent you from getting all 145 stars depending on when you hit the switch. 14:55 - Large levels get... weird if you go out too far. They dislike being rendered properly at some point, leading to the entire level's visuals getting really wacky. 20:00 - Honestly, I'd love to hear hours of just talking about the game (it's reasons like that why I keep an eye on people talking about the hack to begin with lol) 20:43 - Chris actually dislikes the Wario head apparition in particular when it comes to the whole 'every copy is personalized' thing, maybe partially because of beta kids asking him to put it into b3313 or something. Overall, great video. I feel like this hack deserves all the attention it gets simply due to how unique it is, and with an update coming (eventually), the amount of people experiencing the game for the first time will continue to grow, along with those looking to revisit it.
this is some really cool insight especially from the devs perspective, thats cool to see the similarities to lsd and yumi nikki are purely coincidental
also about the yellow switch, that is literally one of the most perplexing things in this hack bc it does actually change your star count, but i didnt even know it was from hitting the switch, so it was really crazy to find that out while looking back at the footage
@@M4m4. Yeah, since the switch never had any proper functionality added to it, once you press it, it activates a bunch of different flags, some of which being which overworld stars you have collected. Since one of those stars is tied to the first MIPS star, if you press the switch, you can never get the first MIPS star in a couple of different areas (unless you know in advance and collect them beforehand), making it impossible to get 145 stars. Thankfully, 140 stars is considered 100% as a result of stars that're permanently missable or are so ridiculously obtuse (aka not intended normally) in how they're obtained that it's not really fair to count them towards the 100% goal.
Loading your save file on a regular Mario 64 rom and getting your hat back in all 3 locations: shifting sand land, tall tall mountain, and snowman land will get your hat back for you in the b3313 version if you load that save again
^this also will get you the stars you collect after getting your hat back so be warned you will technically miss out on collecting 3 stars in b3313 but they will be included in your total
Well from what I seen and heard (Mainly from in game text boxes, events and the wiki) the game tells a story of how the Mario bros, Bowser and his minions, and peach are essentially trapped inside of the castle because of the personalization ai and are forever doomed to roam the castle halls hence why once you leave a level you're basically warped into a part of the castle to confuse you and make you hopelessly look for an exit out and also why the castle is a huge maze that seems to go on forever. The hack takes a lot from greenio, jefftastic and a few other creators vids and im pretty sure they contributed to the project as well. It's a really fun and eerie hack. I recommend anyone who hasn't tried it to play it
I would have gladly paid for this, one of the coolest gaming experiences I've had in a long time. I want to see indie games inspired by it ... I could see "cursed beta version of an unnamed game" becoming a new genre.
I love how this rom hack feels like a whole ass fever dream. It basically takes the liminal aspect the original game has and scales it up to 100. It really does feel like an endless personalized copy.
i know the inspiration for b3313 is more in line with the beta sm64 build, but it almost feels like the subtle changes in maps, textures, points of interest, etc are visual representations of the combination of several people's false memories, misremembering a game they haven't played since childhood. like the coin counter and lives counter overlay, i can definitely see someone misremembering how the sm64 stats overlay actually looks in favor of something more simple. or another example is like at 14:07, some people may genuinely remember the left image of the game, and some may genuinely remember the right side. it's a weird case of the mandela effect wrapped up in one rom hack. super well done and i think it works for this sort of theme as well, even if the intention was solely meant to be a confusing beta-esque build.
17:18 it's these bits I think that make some of the most unsettling points of this hack. This particular figure can be approached if you go about it correctly; taking a wide enough path avoids whatever trigger makes it wake, and it's harmless. Alternatively, if you try to avoid it's sort of floor-is-lava "attack" and jump close once it turns the area crimson, it will just outright freeze the game, being one of many unexplained things capable of doing so. But that's the biggest point of them; they're unexplained. We don't know what that weird, shadowy, static-eyed mario is or why it turns the level to a nightmare hell when approached. We don't know why the holy yellow switch crashes the game either, we don't know why there are faceless mario clones that can just show up in the most claustrophobic rooms and trap you in your death to them. (I'll note spoilers past here for the "ending", as I interpreted it at least, since the video did) We also don't know why all this is here, why the castle is such a confusing maze, or how to get out. And we don't know why the supposed final fight just puts us right back where we started, not even a step closer to escaping the plexus. And I think that unsolved mystery captures the "beta essence" perfectly. It's an incomplete, unsolved, fractured nightmare of a realm - just like a beta level, which would be incomplete and unfinished for the game it's meant to be in, unfit, and if you were in it, you would just know it has that offputting, incorrect feeling. And the presence of unidentified, unintelligible creatures that seem very interested in your mortality only makes it worse, especially as you start to feel the plexus itself is an entity of its own, watching you scramble around its incoherent structure, almost as if it's toying with you. I guess we should be glad it's just mario living that reality and not us.
This is something I feel like needs to be a bigger trope or genre within gaming. While I wouldn't call it a "problem" per se, most games these days have a heavy emphasis on giving you as the player a sense of direction and progression. I'd generally say that's just good game design. However, sometimes I want to get lost. Sometimes I want to not know what my goals are or if there even are any. Sometimes I want the sense of freedom to pave my own way at my own pace for my own reasons, and just experience whatever happens along the way. Not knowing why things happen or when the game might be lying to and gaslighting you, it brings you back to those early childhood years when nothing made sense yet and the journey was more important than the destination.
Id rather sit here all day and Play Mario Rom hacks compared to these triple A games. Id rather play these fan games than the actual Nintendo products lmao.
PLEASE keep making videos like this! I am in love with almost everything about this video. Definitely looking out for more of this :) (not just SM64 of course, anything and everything)
I’ve played this game for hours, and I’m so glad you pointed out Dry Town (the empty town with wet dry world buildings), it was my favorite place, the atmosphere is serene, while also depressing. I can’t wait for the 1.0 of this game, to experience the madness for hours and hours all over again.
Even though I have 144 stars not including the Tall Tall mountain 100 coins, I still feel like I have not explored everything. In this video, there is a section cut out from Big Boo’s haunt.
I think this ROM not only try to explore the unused content, but also tries exploring the creepypasta idea “SM64 beta had a darker tone” and “Every copy is personalized”
The mario rooms change your game entirely after you find them (and reload if you have to). Changes are permanent and global, that is to say that it doesn't matter if you start a new game in a different save slot, and the changes are subtle enough that you wouldn't really be able to notice them (at first)
You convinced me to try this, I've been looking for something to run around in explore and get lost but have fun and SM64 is one my fav games of All time so this seems perfect. I wanna venture into the castle now and see what all these doors and levels await!
Found this video today and it's amazing how much is in here. I watched Vinesauce Joel playthrough it and he barely bit the surface. I'm glad you made this and hope to see more of you.
I think easily my favorite thing about this mod is that it’s *practical* mysterious, too. How do you think someone made *all* of these unique stages, clearly full of enough effort to pull content from *developer interviews,* in such a short space of time as to release this mod not long after the *peak* of the personalization meme hype? This mod, whenever I actually logically think about it, is genuinely an enigma, and something about that only makes its effect even stronger. For all I know… maybe it really *is* personalised.
This looks like such a cool romhack. The vibes are immaculate. I also really enjoyed your Mario & Luigi reviews, I watched them all lmao your channel is really good. I like your video editing haha
This is so perfect. As someone who is way too much into weird content, mysteries, liminal spaces and also been a life long fan of Mario this is a must play for me, gonna ready some snacks and free a weekend day's night along with the next day morning so I can play it like there was no tomorrow (the next day morening is so I can stay up playing even past 3am and not having to worry about anything the next day)
I always loved the concept of watching beta content of old games, they are so weird but so cool. They can be uncomfortable but you just keep going and going and going, it's just awesome. And hey! I really love your storytelling style, great video.
The "final goal" of this game has to do with the 30 star door in the red zone, right? If you beat the "final" boss, with an extra life, then go back to said star door, you'll get stuck in an infinite loop. Mario, or Luigi, won't stop using the star power to open the door. Perhaps you can avoid this trap by opening the door, then turning back to grab a star and save? Also, you get infinite lives if you beat this "final" boss with 1, or more, extra lives.
For me, as a kid, I didn't even thought about unlocking Luigi, I was desperate trying to find Wario as if he was the secret boss if I climbed the hills on right of the castle and that somehow would teleport me to a arena and fight Wario the same way you fight Bowser, by getting his "Tail"... literally a monkey tail had growth from Wario and that's how I thought I was going to beat him like
Getting lost in it is probably a big part of that dream like design they went for. Like the dreams some people would have of playing the game. The area is familiar but "off". Be it that they are larger then they remembered or just different. One big element of dreams in general is the inability to return to places you've been before in a dream because dreams tend to lack that sort of structure so it's not surprising the maze like castle plexus makes it difficult for you to return to places after you leave them. Definitely adds to that dream like nature of the thing. :D
This hack really does have that dream like quality.... Like, even the creepier parts. I don't know if this is just a me thing or not. But, when I have nightmares. They usually start off pretty normal... then, things get dark, like literally, the area either is a super dark nighttime, or heavily shadowed. Then, I either wake up because I KNOW something bad will happen. Or that something happens and I wake up. Either way... I usually do NOT want to go back to sleep afterward.... But yeah, the makers of this hack captured that feeling super well.
My favorite part about B3313 is the fact that it encapsulates what I found so intriguing and scary about the Backrooms in it's initial inception. The entire game is working against you, and playing so many tricks that you may not even notice some of them at first. You are constantly at the mercy of the environment, and all you can do is sit back, play the game, and discover what wild (and sometimes unnerving) secrets and mysteries this game holds.
Has anyone else noticed that their version of B3313 has different music asset placement than other people's playthroughs? I played version 0.7 with Luigi.
This is pretty much what a fever dream feels like. Despite all the different areas this has it takes you back to more “familiar” areas when it seems like you’ve made progress.
13:05 Okay that's fuckin hilarious, imagining Bowser inside a 4x4 room all holed up behind a locked door, holding Peach hostage. Rainbow Six Siege stuff
This looks absolutely gorgeous. I just beat Mario 64 for the first time a few weeks ago and now this video has me itching to jump into this rom hack asap
I remember having a dream where i lived in peaches castle with my family, and it looked different. Like church stain glass windows, literally endless corridors, strange noises playing from seemingly nowhere. All of a sudden, my family was nowhere to be found. Everything fell silent and my skin began crawling... i heard heavy scraping, like steel dragging against pavement. My ears began hurting as the noise slowly crept closer. Panic settled in, and i felt my only choice was running. I opened door after door, running aimlessly, hoping to find some sort of hiding place, escape.. anything. The noise started moving faster, the more i opened doors, the closer the scraping became. Sooner or later, i wound up in a room without doors. Nothing but strange, indescribable tiles on the floor made up of red, green, black and pink images.. the walls were a deep shade of purple. Almost like a night sky.. but the noticeable brick tiling gave it this.. prison like feeling. l like it was taunting me. I was trapped, yet it resembled a sky.. freedom. The noise stopped. I felt a brief moment of tranquility.. the door began to open slowly, the hinges screeched loudly. The door opened all the way revealing nothing i could see, let alone comprehend. A feeling of pure dread, or terror swept over me like a tidal wave. That kind of fear you get watching something traumatic. Its hard to describe, but fear in its purest form if that makes sense. I don’t know exactly what i saw. i woke up almost immediately from just terror. I was out of breath, sweat beading down my face like candle wax. Single handedly one of the worst dreams I’ve experienced.
14:20 the hack I believe also capitalizes on this, with occasions (picking up a 1up and as I've noted, traveling through certain doors that change their destinations such that they are one-way sometimes) plays this eerie, whistley jingle... almost as if you're being taunted by something
Thinking back to my first playthrough, I rushed through it, however, recently I’ve been replaying it and my god, no game has EVER made me feel dread from doing something as simple as opening a door. This ROM hack is easily one of the best ones I’ve seen yet.
b3313 is like a sm64 maze if i played this i would pinch myself thinking this is a dream + this game makes you addicted like its hypnotising you into playing more
I had an experience like yours when I was younger and playing SM64. In Hazy Maze Cave, in the underground lake room, I often looked up at the darkened ceiling and saw a door just hovering far up there in the blackness. My imagination would run wild with theories on how to get up there, and what might be on the other side of the door for years... Of course, when I got a bit older and learned more about how games actually worked, I realized that it was just a normal door from the level that I could see that mistakenly loaded in for some reason. But still, it was fun to imagine!
I've played a bit of B3313 before and it feels exactly like a feverdream, Ive had actual dream where I discover a new area in a game like sm64 or DK64 and B3313 feels just like that.
The perfect way to describe this rom hack for me is when I had a dream where I was playing minecraft,I created a new world and all of a sudde I fell in this city kinda of thing like with buildings that assemble the real world and it felt like a maze but it was like fun to explore
I remember when i was a kid i had a real strange dream about sm64...that there was more to the game where the final bowser area was...i never got there at the time but i dreamed of a double door up there leading to somewhere (a old youtube vid with a giant ghost peach on the roof probably influenced that)...and i always wondered where it went. even to this day i wondered what would be behind that dream door. maybe its the roof? or maybe its another floor. who knows.
I really wish I had a device capable of playing this. The explanation to this video really changed my mind on what I thought about it originally. I of course liked the idea of this rom hack but the explanation to this made me genuinely want to just jump into this and collect as many stars as I can as well as just experience this dream like experience
This ROM hack looks like they were attempting to combine all the beta and unused elements discovered over the years with the Liminal Space thing. I think it pulls it off very well. *Edit: I also appreciate your use of Silent Hill music. I feel like it was very fitting here.
I used to have dreams of mario 64 or ocarina of time, and they looked and felt eerily like this rom hack, jumping over the courtyard wall especially seems like something I've done before in a dream.
i am not even three minutes into the video and the way you were describing this game as not being linear reminded me SO much of yume nikki. for those who don’t know, yume nikki is a game known for its interesting, yet ominous areas you can explore with no end.
B3313 looks like it’s Doom’s “MyHouse.wad” map feeling for SM64, where at initial glance it looks normal only to uncover a behemoth of a maze and an unsettling shift and contrast between reality and dream. I feel like the Doom map does it slightly better, there’s alternate endings, deceiving you into seeing things, levels that appears to change right in front of your eyes, unannounced subtle UI asset changes and a whole mirror world which persists between doom levels, but I’d love to see a 100% play through for this rom hack and see what it has to offer.
Something that always stuck out about b3313 to me was how it feels like the dreams ive had about my favorite games. Like ill be playing the game in my dream but some things are slightly off or different from the real versioy, like im playing a version of it from an alternate reality.
14:23 Yes, it's true. I'm into weird beta versions and I noticed that the picture with But after you find the star and restart the game, this picture will change itself into a face bully
I'm not a Nintendo fan. I don't play their games or care for them but HOLY SHIT. These Rom Hacks/Mods are fantastic! I'd rather play this hack than any of their more recent games
oh nice, a b3313 video that appeared in my recommended, we also have an official wiki, if you want to check it out, also, correction, the amount of stars is 152 with previous versions allowed, the beta vanish cap course originates from dudaw's beta revival, the music in the city stage is called sad, dry docks by kaizo, and finally. Get ready for 1.0
i played the hack and after some exploring in a certain area it said in the screen to find the core which i belive is the goal of this game, you have to find some kind of core
Some of the stuff in this hack is inspired by other content made about the whole "every copy of Super Mario 64 is personalized" thing. In particular the "SM64 : CLASSIFIED" series by Greenio. For instance, the Bob-omb battle field with the river is taken from the video she made called "Prologue"
Kinda seems like an experience not too dissimilar to Yume Nikki. While LSD Dream Emulator is exploring nearly nonsensical worlds without a purpose, both this hack and Yume Nikki have slightly more grounded worlds and an objective for the player. 16:59 Okay, that is *definitely* a Yume Nikki reference. I know that may sound ridiculous, but falling a great height only to find a black room with a puddle of strangely saturated blood mirrors Yume Nikki exactly. 18:18 Play Yume Nikki Do it Do it now
So, I played this in SM64coopDX. And... yeah, this game really does feel like a dream at points. Like, I've had dreams of playing SM64 but, the layouts were... odd. I remember dreaming about a sky blue room with an aquarium. And... flying around as Tanooki Mario? And another dream where I was outside Peach's castle. But, the skybox was a grey sky with dead trees.... Heck, even the jumpscare moments are SUPER dreamlike. Or rather, nightmarish.... In some of my dreams not relating to SM64. A dream starts off seemingly normal, but, I'm feeling uneasy. Like, I'll be in a room. Or walking on a sidewalk. Then out of nowhere, it gets SUPER dark. And I get this feeling something REALLY bad is about to happen to me.... Those moments where something goes wrong in B3313 feel almost EXACTLY like that.... Finding the shadow Mario in the sewers, going to the Dead Village, the blood pool, that eel jumpscare.... It's just a really cool hack. I haven't played a version beyond 0.7, but, I heard that version is easy to brick due to the "Personalization" mechanic.... Anyway, I'm deeply sorry for rambling. I get carried away. One final note... the VHS version of this video was really neat.
Yeah, it feels like a fever dream from your childhood. Just one day you got sick and had to stay home, while sleeping you are dreaming about Mario 64. Like dreams things are not the same, it don't make sense, or something spooks you to were you wake up.
I used to always exaggerate and joke that SM64 has the vibes of a David Lynch movie but this takes it to a whole new level and is no longer an exaggeration.
What is actually funny is that I actually HAD A DREAM ABOUT THIS where I was playing sm64 then the rooms started warping into the exact shapes some of these room take.
What I like about this game is that it totally realizes that one type of dream most gamers had at least once, the dream of playing a game you know but things aren't in the place that they actually are, corridors that go to places that don't exist, layoults that are impossible and so on and so on, it's more than 'creepy' it's actually pretty damn cool.
Yume Nikki is a little overrated. It’s awesome but very boring unless you have a guide. These two give off a VERY similar feel though, so comparing them isn’t too far out of the question.
To let everyone know the romhack has been updated since m4m4 made this video so b3313 us now on version 1.0.1. Theres a few more new areas to explore and over 400 stars to gather. Theres this many stars now cause the duplicate stars issue was fixed and now every level has it own set of stars that will count towards your star counter. Theres also red stars to gather that unlocks some of mario's moves like the long jump and later activate other mechanics that will change other variables as you play the game. And all 13 red stars are required to get to the supposed "final level" of the games
here's a tip for the flowchart of the layout the castle grounds is the green box the front door leads to 1 of 3 lobbies once you manage to figure out what 1 your in see where it leads to on the map tip lobby 3 is the lobby with lobby 4 connected to it by the left door with a 3 on it
A little while back I made a version of this video that was converted to an actual VHS tape on an actual VCR. I did this just to test how it’d work for something in the future and if you want to watch this in an “authentic SM64 beta” way then here you go: ruclips.net/video/i4aTnZnU3sk/видео.html
Also, apologies for the joke about Liam Triforce’s video (same to an extent with the Nathaniel Bandy joke), I don’t have anything against him or that video he made. In fact that video is probably one of the most personal videos on mario 64 and I really enjoy it. Ive gotten a few comments about it and I notice its the most watched part of the video so I thought I should bring it up, as I don’t know why I put that in there, and it’s something I wouldn’t do again nowadays.

Cool thing to mention, the version of the hack that is available currently is version 0.7. The finished version is supposed to be coming out sometime in the next couple of months. Considering that the current version has 140-145 stars, I can only imagine how large the finished version will be.

Kind of a real backrooms game...
Definitely inspired by the Mario 64 iceberg
When I say weirdcore, this is what I mean. It’s large, empty, vast, and not only is there hidden dangers but also a strange aura of safety as well. It’s like the personalization ai wants to mess with me but also comfort me, it’s a bit disorienting but I know it can’t hurt me, which makes it fun to play. I’m definitely checking out this hack as it is not only a weird and dreamlike experience but also a fun yet psychological quest.
It's absolute, pure dream material. Comforting, because your brain is pulling from what you know, and mario makes you happy; but uncomfortable and scary because you can just tell that something's wrong
or… you could just say it’s giving *liminal space* vibes. or to put it in simple:
it’s giving backroom vibes.

20:00 - Honestly, I'd love to hear hours of just talking about the game (it's reasons like that why I keep an eye on people talking about the hack to begin with lol)
20:43 - Chris actually dislikes the Wario head apparition in particular when it comes to the whole 'every copy is personalized' thing, maybe partially because of beta kids asking him to put it into b3313 or something.
(I'll note spoilers past here for the "ending", as I interpreted it at least, since the video did)
We also don't know why all this is here, why the castle is such a confusing maze, or how to get out.
I'm anticipating a rom hack for a 30 year old game more than any modern AAA title. The absolute state of gaming in 2022. Amazing rom hack.
Id rather sit here all day and Play Mario Rom hacks compared to these triple A games. Id rather play these fan games than the actual Nintendo products lmao.
26, not 30
@@xboxed720 30 if u round it up
That is because capitalism isn't about quality but finding the threshold of "barely even a product" and still have people buy enough to make a profit.
Agreed the only big switch game I own is ring fit adventure
I really wish they made it compatible with SM64ex, lobbies would be so fun with everyone exploring a SUPER JUMBO sized game.
i feel the same
Well it is
PLEASE keep making videos like this! I am in love with almost everything about this video. Definitely looking out for more of this :) (not just SM64 of course, anything and everything)
just looked at the view and sub count and I am appalled that you're so unknown. Here's to hoping you get more recognition for this amazing work 🍷
I’ve played this game for hours, and I’m so glad you pointed out Dry Town (the empty town with wet dry world buildings), it was my favorite place, the atmosphere is serene, while also depressing. I can’t wait for the 1.0 of this game, to experience the madness for hours and hours all over again.
I've never before felt so much nostalgia and discomfort at the same time.
I'm glad you made this and hope to see more of you.
tysm man
I can’t believe you were able to condense the sheer insanity that is B3313 into a 20 minute video. Massive kudos.
This is a cool RUclips recommendation, thanks for the video. I liked the part where he said "luminous spaces".
Thank you, I do too
This looks like such a cool romhack.
13:05
Okay that's fuckin hilarious, imagining Bowser inside a 4x4 room all holed up behind a locked door, holding Peach hostage.
This was a really great introduction to the rom hack! Great video.
The perfect way to describe this rom hack for me is when I had a dream where I was playing minecraft,I created a new world and all of a sudde I fell in this city kinda of thing like with buildings that assemble the real world and it felt like a maze but it was like fun to explore
this video is wonderful, and you deserve so many more views!
14:49 I love how the shell disappeared because of the change
really great video! I wanted to see what all of the kids in the coop mario 64 space are obsessed about, and this exceeded my expectations keep it up!
ayo, appreciate it
Went and played as soon as you said to go try it for yourself and enjoyed it so much, now to finish the video
3:35 ouch... I can feel the pain of losing your hat in dire dire docks...
Very nice video, you express your thoughts really well and it feels very personal, keep at it
This is one of the trippier things I've seen in this scene. Will have to give it a try!

Oh dude, geeze man. Seems like you would fit better in the 80s then 2023
I used to have dreams of mario 64 or ocarina of time, and they looked and felt eerily like this rom hack, jumping over the courtyard wall especially seems like something I've done before in a dream.
I played this hack blindly before this video. It was THE fever dream experience
i am not even three minutes into the video and the way you were describing this game as not being linear reminded me SO much of yume nikki. for those who don’t know, yume nikki is a game known for its interesting, yet ominous areas you can explore with no end.
Same. Also Yume 2kki which apparently is much bigger, .flow (yes, with a dot) etc.
your video is super well made! congrats!
thanks
B3313 looks like it’s Doom’s “MyHouse.wad” map feeling for SM64, where at initial glance it looks normal only to uncover a behemoth of a maze and an unsettling shift and contrast between reality and dream. I feel like the Doom map does it slightly better, there’s alternate endings, deceiving you into seeing things, levels that appears to change right in front of your eyes, unannounced subtle UI asset changes and a whole mirror world which persists between doom levels, but I’d love to see a 100% play through for this rom hack and see what it has to offer.
Every copy of SM64 truly is personalized
You're underrated af can't wait to see you grow in popularity
I've been playing this with my buddy and god when we saw the peach painting without pupils we lost our minds in fear

Thank you for being aware of spoiler consequences. I'll check this out eventually bro.
And I thought the darker look of earlier versions of SM64 was just a result of whatever method was used to record videos of those older versions.
great video, very underrated channel.
thanks man
oh nice, a b3313 video that appeared in my recommended, we also have an official wiki, if you want to check it out, also, correction, the amount of stars is 152 with previous versions allowed, the beta vanish cap course originates from dudaw's beta revival, the music in the city stage is called sad, dry docks by kaizo, and finally. Get ready for 1.0
i played the hack and after some exploring in a certain area it said in the screen to find the core which i belive is the goal of this game, you have to find some kind of core
this hack rom freaks me out but there are some levels with actual awesome level design
Every top comment on a Mario 64 video is a personalised joke
18:18 Play Yume Nikki
Do it

I had a dream of super mario 64 before and it was a creepy one

Yeah, it feels like a fever dream from your childhood. Just one day you got sick and had to stay home, while sleeping you are dreaming about Mario 64. Like dreams things are not the same, it don't make sense, or something spooks you to were you wake up.
I used to always exaggerate and joke that SM64 has the vibes of a David Lynch movie but this takes it to a whole new level and is no longer an exaggeration.
What is actually funny is that I actually HAD A DREAM ABOUT THIS where I was playing sm64 then the rooms started warping into the exact shapes some of these room take.
keep these videos coming! i love em
This is the exact type of video I've been pining for, more people need to know about this masterpiece of a game
What I like about this game is that it totally realizes that one type of dream most gamers had at least once, the dream of playing a game you know but things aren't in the place that they actually are, corridors that go to places that don't exist, layoults that are impossible and so on and so on, it's more than 'creepy' it's actually pretty damn cool.
the way you talk is so cool it reminds me of nitrorad
thanks but this video is bad because of my narration

@@Gamxin What do you mean? Yume Nikki is very much comparable to B3313.
And all 13 red stars are required to get to the supposed "final level" of the games
here's a tip for the flowchart of the layout the castle grounds is the green box the front door leads to 1 of 3 lobbies once you manage to figure out what 1 your in see where it leads to on the map tip lobby 3 is the lobby with lobby 4 connected to it by the left door with a 3 on it
Oh my gosh, its B3313 because its Beta64 (also Build no. three thousand three hundred and thirteen)
underrated channel, very well made video
