Absolutely subbed and liked, thanks for your explanations of the card scenarios. Times are getting crazy in terms of accessibility for entry-level streaming, and I’m trying to jump in with just an M2 iPad and a webcam/xlr mic for now through c-port hdmi hub. Bare bones as possible if possible for now. Turns out to be a bit more demanding than anticipated with audio, either mic but no gameplay or my mic mixed with gameplay mic due to headphones apparently being necessary when hubbed. Camo isn’t a pro/paid app with features as such, but at least it’s here! Haven’t found any other app that works. I’ve been thinking I’d need a capture card eventually if not already, but as I’m using the iPad to stream/game (and view chat on a second phone) and can’t multi stream yet, I just haven’t thought the need was present without even having a par standard monitor as well. Can’t wait to really go legit and stoked for more of your videos dude 🤙
Thank you appreciate the kind words! I just uploaded a video going out tomorrow talking about how I solved my single audio issue like you’re talking about. so adjacent to that I’m going to set up of how I stream from my iPad. Definitely would love to hear your thoughts after I post those. Hopefully it will guide you on your journey.
@@MatsuXL I’ll be waiting for that notif and thankful to have my thoughts considered, as I’m on this or a related issue every day now and the serendipity here is palpable lol. Thanks again!
Currently using a 4k X to capture PS5 footage using an iPad. Works great, but I have trouble using it was OBS. My main issue with it is the picture being too saturated and/or dark. I connected it to my computer to disable tone mapping, and while the colors are more flat, I can fix in post, but at least I don’t have to risk overexposing the footage. Very convenient recording tool, especially for screenshots.
@@Los4rmdagang4 - I do use a monitor utilizing the pass through HDMI port on my 4k X and do ALL capturing on an M1 iPad. There are some examples on my channel, but I’ll be adding more soon. I just finished up a run with HDR disabled on the console, and it helped the picture/capture on the iPad from looking overly saturated.
@Los4rmdagang4 i’ve used the 4K X and the HD60X. I have not tested with lightning port iPads at this time, but potentially can in a future future video
How exactly does it all plug in? I was recently gifted an iPad. Planning on buying a web cam and an el gato capture card but not sure if I need to buy an iPad hub or literally just a usb c to hdmi. Trying to figure this all out before making all these purchases lol thanks in advance

max audio recording is 2 channel 320kbps had most difficulties with 4k capture utility software to work with HDR video capture returned the product in a week
How high Fidelity were you trying to record with audio? Most common and users barely notice a difference between 128 to 196. On an iPad, HDR capture is not as equivalent to desktop capture. Sorry you had a bad experience with this product
Great video. I did purchase the 4k x and I like it but I’m having terrible issues with my audio using my IPad trying to capture my game sound, chat, and my voice. I have a voice mixer that I’ve set up to do AI voice changing through Xbox series x and it works fine with my pc and Xbox but with the iPad I get game audio and chat but not my mics. I have been trying to figure it out for but I’ve hit a wall. I have chat links, sound dampers, and 3.5s but can’t seem to get my voice to go through the elgato app or camo studios. In my old set up with the PC I had an old hd60 and I would just run the 3.5 from my controller to the hd60 3.5 and then I could hook everything to the sound mixer and it would work. For some reason my controller isn’t putting out my mic through the 3.5 but will for everything else. The way I have it wired everything should be out put through my controller to the elgato and should be able to capture in the stream but all I get is chat and game audio. Frustrating to me because it should work but it’s got to be the iPad limitations but it shouldn’t be. Anyone got any thoughts or work around. All I need is my voice to be added everything else is there and working.
Hmmmm…. So I run my Xbox series X into my 4K X and then I use my Steelseries Nova Pros for wireless headset. My setup is different because I can run both game and mic audio out through the Steelseries DAC. Let me play with it and see what I can come up with.
I use Astro a50 wireless headsets and use the aux 3.5 to run to the back of my sound mixer to the monitor port (which allows me to hear game and chat in my headsets). From there I have my blue yeti mic hooked to the Xbox and then I have it plugged into my sound mixer. From the mixer I run all the sound to my controller then out to the 4k x (front 3.5) . Now with my old hd60 I used the same set up (with pc) and it worked. I got the new iPad to take some of the strain off my old pc because streaming off it and doing AI voice changing was causing stream issues. Nothing else has changed in my set up other than a iPad and the 4k x. It should still work because my mixer should act as the hub for all my audio to go from the controller to the elgato. I’m missing something.
@bigdrew66854 Do me a favor - have you hooked up the 4K X to your pc and downloaded the Capture Utility app from Elgato yet? In that app you can switch the 4K X to record audio from the AUX 3.5 input rather than HDMI. It doesn’t auto switch by default. I found that after connecting to a computer, changing that option, then plugging into my iPad it worked.
Thanks for the viedo just bought an elgato neo because it was cheap and usb c it does not have that great of specs but i think it will work great for the nintendo switch and aome older consoles but if i need more for either the xbox series x or ps5 i plan on buying the 4k x or whatever replaces it in the future
The Neo is a great pick up! Def for the switch and ps4/xbox1 systems it’s great. Can still work with your newer systems just pass through may be capped at 1080. Not a big big deal unless you are ultra spec crazy (like me haha)
how about using it with the Neo? i still have a HD60 and elgato and others tell me i can't use it with USB type C so looking to upgrade now and low and behold i look up elgato news and pop goes the Neo which is great timing. thought about getting the X (and will someday) but want to know how well it works with connecting my xbox to the Neo and then a ipad if could see that.
I don’t have it to test (hint hint @elgato lol) However based on what I’ve read and spec wise it should work well and similar to a 60s Plus. Just make sure you know that the pass through is not going to support a full 4k120. Not a huge loss but something to be aware of.
@@MatsuXL fine with it not going to 4K120FPS. like to have something as an upgrade to my hd60 and i don't have a tv or monitor that has 4k anyway. But thanks for the video. :)
I recently purchased the 4K X and using it alongside my M4 iPad Pro. The iPad is being used as my primary capture device. I don’t have a Mac or PC. I can capture game audio and video just fine but I cannot get game audio to my Nova Pro wireless headphones. Using the Elgato Capture app, it is set to 4K X in the audio section. My PS5 is set to HDMI for the audio source. It’s the only way of getting game sound to be captured but then I lose the ability to hear game audio through my headphones. Is there something I’m doing wrong? I contacted Elgato and was told it’s a limitation of the iPad but this seems like a major oversight. I have to choose between being able to record game audio or hearing audio through my headphones. Can you confirm this to be true? I would’ve expected to be able to capture both video/audio and hear game audio through my wireless headset. Basically, if I’m recording I only get video once done recording and no audio when the PS5 is set to Arctis Nova as the Sound Output. I can get both video and audio once done recording if I have the PS5 set to HDMI for the Sound Output but this means I can’t hear any game audio through my headset.
OK, so I have a nova Pro wireless as well. What I did was use a computer and the capture utility to change the 4K X to analog audio. Then I have the consoles audio going to my nova’s Dac. I then use the chat link pro to connect the line out from the nova dac and have that go into the line in on the 4K X. From there I can use the nova dac to control the volume of my game, audio and my mic audio and what’s routed to the line out. The unfortunate part is you need a Mac or PC to use the utility app. Maybe you have a friend that can loan a device?
@@MatsuXL So I have a Mac but it’s a work issued computer so not something I can use alongside my setup.
