Here's a tip to go along with what you were talking about with the Match Dynamic Range. So having it match the dynamic range and frame rate, as you showed are important. But you can add to it by going into the main TV resolution settings and changing the Apple TV to SDR. Even though you change it to SDR, because of the Match Dynamic Range setting, when playing something in HDR it will switch back. The benefit to this is to ensure that SDR is ALWAYS shown as SDR and that it never tries to tone-map the SDR to HDR. But even assuming the Match Dynamic Range setting truly does always keep the content in SDR when it's non-HDR, there's one place where it will NEVER change it: the Home Screen.
The Home Screen will always try to show in HDR if HDR is selected. This has the result of making the Home Screen look a little washed out; not as bright or well defined. This may not be a big deal on TVs where the screen is extremely bright (like a QLED) - but it's really bad on a lower cost TV. Many TVs under $1,000 have panels that are not capable of truly reaching the minimum brightness needed for HDR (regardless of whether they show the HDR logo on the box and the input allows it). And so for TVs that can't go past 500 Nits of brightness, trying to browse through the Apple TV Home Screen in HDR mode can be very eye straining as it's so dim and washed out. But by changing the resolution setting to SDR, and then enabling Match Dynamic Range, the home screen will have full 4:4:4 color and look much brighter and easier to see.

Learn remote (Settings > Remotes and Devices > Learn Remote) is the best feature that wasn't mentioned in this video because it gives you dedicated remote skip buttons (specifically through "Set Up Playback Buttons") that are not available on the Siri remote. I used it to have the Apple TV learn my old cable set top box remote. Another tip to go along with the voice control you talked about. You can also use the exact same commands hands-free, if you have another nearby Apple device like an iPad or HomePod or Apple Watch. I use this all the time when I want to get up to go to the other room and I just call out to Siri to pause the TV. The HomePod is perfect for this because it's equipped with long range beam-forming microphones; and it works from any HomePod in the house regardless of whether it's paired to the Apple TV for sound output or not. Some of the things you can say is: Hey Siri:
Turn the Apple TV Off (Puts it to sleep)
    Pause the TV
    Resume playing on the TV
    Go back 45 seconds
    What did they say?
    Skip 5 Minutes
All of that without ever having to touch the remote.

tvOS is so bloated full of stuff I'm never going to use and don't even want when all I've ever asked for (other than the ability to delete the vast majority of first-party applications) is a faster UI. If I already know where I'm going, everything takes multiple clicks on the remote because the UI takes so damn long to respond and finish its sweeping animations. It's annoying because I know the hardware is plenty capable of responding more quickly than I am - it's just a software burden.

I recently bought Airpods 3rd Gen. I used to have a home theater system with multiple speakers, in terms of audio that was better than actually being in the best seat in a theater or at the Super Bowl for example. The newer Airpods are better than that particularly because each person has their own personal home theater system, with the exception that with a home theater system you can actually feel the difference, like it's live versus a recording.
I'm currently sitting at home waiting for delivery of my 2022 Apple TV unit as a Christmas present, and educating myself so that when my wife gets home I'll have it all set up. But now watching this I'm thinking maybe it's better if I just connect it and let her set up her own thing because we have a unique situation.
I'm American, native English speaker; my wife is Japanese, native Japanese speaker. Both of us use iPhone and iPad. Until now we've been using an old Playstation, though mostly her. If only one can log in with global settings where it's that one person's language and such, I rather it be her. But ideally I want all our stuff separated by login by language, country, content, and so forth.

Just wanted to make an observation about a frustration I ran into & solution with the Apple TV. With the video settings of Match Dynamic Range and Match Frame Rate on, the RUclips app within an Apple TV becomes unwatchable. Apparently the ads on YT are at a different frame rate than most content, and it causes a cycle of stuttering and black screen but with audio until everything syncs again. I had to to use the YT app installed on my smart tv independently until I discovered the Dynamic Range and Frame Rate settings solution. Turn them off, unfortunately. Others have reported results by only adjusting the Match Frame Rate setting but I had to turn both that and Dynamic Range matching off. For context, is it matters, this was connected to a TCL Roku Class 5 tv. Best of luck everyone.

Turn Control TVs and Receivers to "On". (Default is Off.) Then, click "Volume Control". Select Auto. Provided your TV and sound bar (or other kinds of home theater connected via HDMI) have CEC (or any trade name thereof) turned on, you can can change volume using the Apple TV remove, turn on and off all those devices. To turn on the entire home theater, just press Menu key or TV key. Turning off Apple TV (sleep) using the remote is never trivial; it requires going into Settings and scroll all the way down to find "Sleep Now". But if you have auto off on, at least that will bring down the whole theater as well. (Interestingly, Apple TV also displays any other remote that it has learned in CEC. No Dolby TrueHD or DTS-HD support or passthrough makes this device a non-consideration for me. For Blu-ray rips in Plex, the Nvidia Shield is still unbeatable as it supports pretty much all formats.

I think one of my favorite things I’ve been doing for a while is using my phone as a remote. It’s usually nearby (I tend to lose the remote) and the integration with the keyboard is nice. Plus I have the older Apple TV remote which frankly isn’t great - so the phone remote tends to be just as good.
I’ve always felt the Apple TV is one of apples under the radar products. For a reasonable price, it gives you an excellent smart tv interface that is better than any integrated smart tv os I’ve seen(although lgs webOS is pretty good too).

Yeah I’d love to use my AirPods Pro with our Apple TV 4K, but….
The device runs under the Apple ID of my wife, and Apple doesn’t let me connect the AirPods !! What a shame!
The only way to do that, would be if she used her AirPods and would SharePlay to mine. Only problem: she doesn’t have any AirPods!
So how do all those families use AirPods with Apple TV, if only AirPods with the same Apple ID will connect????

The match content setting is creating a delay on the video when connected to an AVR. This is bad because the screen goes blank, sometimes the audio also goes off, then you always join the video 5 to 10 seconds later.

I have my Apple TV 4K connected to HDMI 2 on my Hisense, and my Yamaha AV Receiver HDMI Out (with eARC/ARC) to the eARC/ARC HDMI port of the Hisense TV. I can use either remote for basic remote control. Awesome!
The Apple TV 4K comes with the German Telekom Magenta TV plan, and has a specific remote for the Magenta App, and the buttons are backlit for crying out loud! Just brilliant!
But I use Waipu TV plan, as the service and content quality is awesome for 12,99€/month and some 250 channel!
The Hisense simply acts as a monitor, but have it connected to my satellite dish and Astra satellite, just in case for an internet blackout!
I think the Apple TV 4K Box is one of the best things you can have nowadays for content consumption. My old Apple TV HD from 2015(!) - or 2014, can’t really remember - still providing everything to my old LG plasma which has been moved to my bedroom. People just don’t seem to be aware of the constant quality the Apple TV is providing. It just works, and is dead easy to use. I run mine with the Dev Beta program for ages. Never had a problem!

And if you connect them through airplay you have to unplug and plug Apple tv 4k each time you turn your tv on because it switches back to 'tv(default)' because you cannot switch default audio output on Apple tv 4k.

ah ah ah, if you turn on any of the MATCH settings, your signal will cut out and go black for anywhere from .5 to 3 seconds when playing ANY content, this is completely MADDENING because people usually think their Apple TV, TV, or receiver is BROKEN and malfunctioning. I would suggest NEVER using this setting unless you REALLY know what you're doing and purposely want to test your sanity constantly. Any guests, family members, etc. who do not understand this explicitly, will also just think your equipment is broken. please, just don't.

My GF insists on everything Apple, my first impressions going from the Firestick 4K:
    1. VERY limited supported apps when compared to Android, where almost any native android app can be sideloaded on AndroidTV. Seems 95% of what's on the iOS store isn't even available.
    2. HUGE lack of free-to-play games, or games in general for that matter, especially outside Apple Arcade. If Apple aren't making money from it, they ain't putting in on the Apple TV!
    3. Snappy menus and nice controller tho... Woopie...

Not to mention Apples ridiculously high standards for apps which is why they don’t get the new features that other streaming devices do. I used an Apple TV for awhile. Airplay can be used by “anyone within range of your Apple TV unless you lock it down behind a code”.. you then show pretty clearly “Allow Access: Same Network”… have I misunderstood or does that mean that “anybody within range” also needs to be connected to your network? Confusing at least… misleading at worst.
Idk who you talk to but these are the most basic of “features” (some so much so that I wouldn’t even describe them as features)… “you aren’t using”!? Again.. pretty misleading.

Hi, I think it would be a great idea if you can revisit TVs that have had notable bugs in their software every 6 months or so to let the viewers know whether the the latest firmware has resolved those issues. Given that many new TVs have software issues when they are initially released and when you review them, your viewers can often go into a TV purchase somewhat blind. I’m sure it would be very valuable for many of us and be a popular series for your channel.
