    The foam in my RF-1100 was falling apart so I had to choose between refreshing the 1100 or a new 1200. I had a feeling a new model was in the works and STG had the parts I needed so I refreshed the 1100. I'm glad I went that route and I think I just saw my next lid. I am not a brand snob but Shoei fits me like it is custom made. Totally worth the investment.

      I would suggest always staring with the smaller of the two sizes when you are in between and see how it fits. If you do not have any hot spots when you wear it for a bit (in the house not while riding) the helmet will break in and fit great. Now if you have any hot spots that are uncomfortable and painful go up to the next size. As long as you do not ride in it the helmet can always be sent back. - Van

But the thing still looks like new. I get it, though, it may be time to bite the bullet and get a new lid. I'm thinking this will be it. All my other lids are Shoei as well. I have been told I have a Shoei head. I must because I always end up in one. They just fit me like no other. I'm always in between medium and large being 58.5 mm. The nxr2 is ECE certified.

    Hello, I have a question. Unfortunately none of the local shops here have a Shoei in the shop to try on. This is my first helmet, so if I try on a different brand helmet to check what's my size, probably will be M from my measurement, will that translate over to a Shoei helmet? Just picked one up last night in gray. New rider last season, and have no doubts that this will be a massive upgrade over my Scorpion lid, that unknown to me at the time, was their "race" style. I ride an upright bike, and the buffeting was brutal without windshield extensions attempting to push the air up and over. Really hoping this one eliminates the need for all that, but definitely can tell it's a major upgrade in quality just from handling it and wearing it around the house for a bit. Hope it warms up soon, from A fellow Michigander down in Buckeye land.

    Front center button is a deal killer. Going with another RF-1200 or maybe an Arai this time around.
    Also the tighter neck piece, the RF-1200 already was pretty rough on my ears coming on and off several times a day. This is a good improvement though, it will make it slightly less noisy.

    Hi Brian. Thanks for this video. Really well done.
    I have an RF-1400 in size 3XL, and I really need the optional thicker interior liner. Shoei customer support tells me I have to get it from a dealer, but my local dealers are telling me it's out of stock and not available to order. I haven't found it for sale on the internet, and I get the sense that most web sellers don't understand the part or never added it to their catalog.
    Does Sportbike Track Gear have the part in stock? I think the PN is simply "XXL9".
    If not, what am I supposed to do? I bought one of the finest, most expensive helmets on the market and I'm feeling like I made a mistake because Shoei is not supporting the product.

    • @sportbiketrackgear

      The liner you need is out of stock, not out of production. Here is a link to it on our site: www.sportbiketrackgear.com/shoei-rf-1200-helmet-replacement-center-pad/

    Arak or Shoe ? And what would you recommend for best street-sport leather jacket (no hump)

    • @sportbiketrackgear
      @sportbiketrackgear  3 года назад

      Both Arai and Shoei make excellent helmets. Both myself and my son Max are riding in Shoei if that helps you choose. When looking for a good street leather I would suggest taking a look at Alpinestars. - Van

      @@sportbiketrackgear truly my last question for now, do any Shoei’s have built in neck curtain? I always appreciated not being able to lose or break that

    Anybody use rf on the track? Looking not to buy another x14

      Yes, I have used my rf1200 as well as a majority of my friends. It works well.

      If you already have an X-14 and like that I would stick with that. The RF series are all great helmets, the X-14 is a bit better. - Van

    Aesthetics aside. Adding more weight and the center lock visor is a deal breaker for me. They went backwards with this. Arai doesnt mess with whats perfect.

    • @sportbiketrackgear
      @sportbiketrackgear  3 года назад

      If you prefer the Arai then buy the Arai. While I will reserve final judgement until I ride in this in the spring I will say I like what I see here. More ventilation is never a bad thing, reducing the road noise is a win and having ridden is no less than 75 different helmets in the last decade or so I find the center shield lock to be an improvement. - Van

    Why did they stop offering them in gloss black? I have been waiting to update my RF-1100, but absolutely hate the matte finishes. They get scratched up so much easier. My buddy bought an RF-1200 in gloss black, but can't find one anywhere. I even reached out to Shoei, but got no response.

      They have a "Matte black" and just a "black" and the black one looks shiny in the pics. I post a link in next comment in case it gets flagged as spam

      Thank you all. To me, "matte" looks flat, and "black" looks more like "satin" or "semi-gloss". I want gloss black, the most popular color known to man. It must be the photos that Shoei provides. None of the solids appear to be gloss.
