I’ve got a P6002 I’ve been beating up for years. Showing a clean 53-54 volts on the Oscope. Running at 2ohm lately w (2) 12s. I might send it to you when I’m done w it. This thing is bulletproof.

Niceeee! Rockford has a huge fan base just because of that, its ratings vs output is always on point.
Thats why I have always ran Rockford stuff the black and grind series are still my favorite as far as looks ever for a car amp.

Never forget it. We ran a total of 16 RF P2 12's off the one amp as a 'Wall of Bass'. Each pair in the RF ported box. It was stupid loud inside our small 700ft2 shop showroom.
Sold a ton of the 2005 Punch amps and a few of the power. I would have made some different sub suggestions if I had known they were THAT underrated! Great video, thanks BigD
I love the BDCP Power series. My favorite all around amps ever made. They have very, very good SQ and the constant power thing just pumps out the SPL. I haven’t had the chance to listen to the newer Power series amps, but I bet they’re even better.

Till today I still hold on to my punch 800a this amp came with the flip chip for frequency controls and it’s just item I wouldn’t part with. Back in late 90 and early 2000 these where so underrated in comparison to others of that time such as Phoenix Gold M series or precision power I’d like to see a vid done on the M50 from Phoenix Gold
I used to have two of these back in 2006 2007 range. Powered my mids and highs. Excellent amp
Considering how empty the chassis is it is amazing it made that power.
Remember that amp is massive. I’ve got two and they take up an insane amount of space.
I never cease to be surprised how much "new in box" stuff is still out there.
I just picked one of these up a month ago BRAND NEW for 150$ 😝

@@charlespetersonii6989 Same thing happened to me with a Soundstream Rubicon 302 for $75 and a Rubicon 502 for $125. I saw them when they were posted on a Saturday night, they were Buy It Now I and snagged them immediately. This was back in 2007 but both were BNIB.
The T3002 is out there.
It can't be reasoned with, it can't be bargained with...it doesn't feel pity of remorse or fear...and it absolutely will not stop... until everyone is bumping!

I had an R.F. power series 800A2 amp from 1996 or 98 i believe, and I never knew why it hit so damn hard on any sub/subs hooked to it but this video explains why...good engineering from thoughtful people who stood behind and believed in their product, Where are al those people now.

I had the T8004 and the T20001bD, the 8004 burned my damn hand every time I got near it (yes, literally). The 20001 cooked my most favorite sub (Eclipse SW8200😥). Bloody animal amplifiers
My T3002 kept blowing. It is still in my closet. I had it in a truck back in 2007 pushing two JL 12" subs. One channel is fried. I want to get it repaired one day.

Oh glad to see this here, I have one of these, and I'm in the process of repairing it.
RF actually has another amp that is just as underrated, if not more underrated than the T3002. The 1999-2000 Punch 200a4. Conservatively rated to do 100x2 but actually does 500-600wrms as seen on some birth sheets

I'm not surprised rockford products are so underrated, I have their car speakers installed in my Silverado, and the sound quality is so impressive, people think I have a system installed , and it's only the factory replacement speakers (Rockford Fosgate) door speakers.. Great Demonstration!!!!!!!! :-)

I'm repairing car amps for over 15 years but i never saw an amp like this one, 99% amps real power is aprox 15-20% less than the power on the catalog but this T3002 is insane

My dad is a huge fan of the rockford amps, more specifically the older ones. He likes the ones with the X cards alot. Now I have a rockford punch 400.4 from the 90s as my highs amd mids

Bought one from original owner today in box with remote etc birthsheet reads 850 went for less than 100 Canadian dollars so I gave him a tip for keeping it all together.
I honestly would have bet that the other Fosgate amps would be the ones most underrated not these. The amps that has the end caps , like the punch 50.2 or 100.2. Got stupid hot. Everyone always seemed to loose the end caps. 🤦🏻♂️ now those amps BANGED SO HARD AND NEVER STOPPED
Best amp they ever made! I sold so many of these and the T5002. Both were triple to quadruple their rated power on every birth sheet and all far more stable.

I had this amp brand new in the year 2010 man it was nice very underrated had it with the Rockford fosgate p2L-212 its was nice. Been a Rockford fosgate fan ever since
I forgot where I saw/read this at but a little “hack” someone can use to guess the max output of a amp is by adding a zero to the end of the number on the fuse .. example - you have two 15 amp fuses , add it together 15+15=30 then you add the 0 to the end of the 30 which equals 300 , it’s not perfect by any means but gets you in the ball park , same goes if it only has one fuse - 25 amp fuse add the 0 = 250

I had one of these. It was every bit a 1000 watt amplifier. The only bad part is the 2ohm mono rating, and they do not live very long on 1 ohm mono. Also, lost those panel screws somewhere in my trunk after a while. Thanks for the video, back in the day we all knew these were way underrated.

This is criminally underrated. I would be really pissed, if I assumed it'll be 100W max, and it smoked my woofers.

99% of the time you wouldn't smoke 100W woofers by doubling or tripling the power. You would reach the mechanical limits of the woofer(still may hurt it, but less likely) before you'd cook it thermally. Typically using an underpowered amp or the right sized amp will cook a coil because people want more and push the amp into clipping. Having extra power is typically preferential whether you know you have it or not.
@@D4rk51d332 It depends of the type of music you put through. Sure, they will not seize up like a sub, but giving 200W into a 50W RMS woofer with fast techno beats can cause partial melting of the coil, which will lower the impedance. I should have written tweeters instead, those are definitely more endangered by higher than specs wattage.
@@drumsmoker731Yeah woofers and tweeters are way more susceptible, since they have to really on the coils thermal capacity alone. I'm used to people talking about subs, sorry for assuming. At least someone else will probably learn something from our back and forth 😊
@@D4rk51d332 - having extra power is to avoid clipping, keeping efficiency optimized and avoiding amp abuse. Not knowing your power is 3x the stated wattage could be a massive issue if your a rookie in the game.

Rockford probably built this to be an extreme sq amp. So for example they might consider it 50 watts rms at .01% thd and know that anyone building an sq car will check the levels and only use the 50 watss since it is a very clean signal.

I JUST finally retired a 1995 RF Pro 12in sub a month ago! I used it in 3 different trucks and the foam is just too deterorated to justify using it. But it still bumped! RF = can't go wrong
So... ~1000 watts at ~48% efficiency... great power output, and you've got a space heater for the winter! 😁
1040 watts into the heatsink, and 1000 to the terminals. It's 15 here in Moab Utah now, may make a nice hand warmer when the demos are over! 😂

The red flag for me was seeing 2 40a fuses on a 300w amp. From my perspective my MTX and Phoenix gold 400rms amps had 60amp fuses. That aside rocky amps are monsters. I just wish they were smaller with the same power.

The Punch 45 was rated 22.5 x 2 and does around 60x2 at 4 ohms. About 300% over rated. The T3002 is 400% over rated, but yeah all beasts

That's a good question about it being too underrated. I might be inclined to say yes, because generally you know you're getting underrated power when you buy a Rockford. But if I bought one that was underrated by 50 percent and then discovered this one, I might feel I got ripped off! Until guys like you and Steve Meade came along and started doing real world tests, we really didn't know what these things put out except for the birth sheet. Which didn't cover all the ohm/stereo/mono combinations.
Regarding the underrated output, in the 90's it was very common to run an un-regulated power supply in the amp, and get the output RMS ratings at 12vdc. Then, when run at 14.4vdc the RMS output would be much higher. For competition, the official "rating" of the amp would be used to classify the competition vehicle. If the competitor was able to build a vehicle electrical system that could maintain 14+ volts, they would benefit from much higher RMS power. Especially when ran into low impedance loads. This is how the HCCA amps gained their reputation. It'd be interesting to see if this T3002 is using a fully regulated PS, I suspect that at 12.0VDC it may put out closer to "rated" power.
These have unregulated power supplies but were actually rated 50x2 at 14.4 volts
@@wal Hmmmm.... still would be interesting to see that actual dyno ratings at a more typical voltage like 12.0VDC...many of the vehicles these were installed in might be supplying less than 12.0VDC at extended idling at the amp input terminals. So you are definitely getting your money's worth even in a typical car system.
