    This would be perfect for my truck. Small, good power for the infinity speakers in my doors, and a bridgeable 3/4 for a little bit of that .1 channel action tucked away.
    I've been looking at 4ch setups just for that reason, since those door speakers are lacking punch at only the 22w put out by my little head unit. My other car has the same speakers in the doors but that HU puts out double the power of the other one and you _absolutely_ notice the difference between them. Cooooooool.

  • @ZoeyR86
    @ZoeyR86 3 года назад

    An easy way to clean up class D is to make the switch to full bridge and move the power supply stage to a higher switching frequency most class d run the power stage around 24khz but bump this higher to 36-100khz this will add some more losses in the fets but honestly those losses don't really get crazy tell your over 250khz because most modern fets are stupid fast. This change helps because the greater the difference there is between carrying frequencys and audio frequency the better you can filter it out.. the next step is the output stage pwm circuit is the dynamic range. The is the the range between the lowest output and highest output this is controlled by the chop and carrier frequency on the pwm signal to the fets higher frequencys will give a more accurate waveform tracking also making it easier on the inductors to eat up the carrier frequency and pass a true sign wave. The IR relationship between the output filter and the woofer inductance will have a strong impact on total dampening, amplifier response curve. The way the amp dyno works supplys basically a static fixed inductance value based on the resistors in the dyno but given the inductance maps of woofer testing even if and amp has a small crown or is peeking at say 120hz and drops say 5-10% at 40hz this is do to the output inductor reaching saturation and will be far less with an actual woofer then it is with the amp dyno.

    Hey Big D, With this talk of clean D, and distortion, I was wondering if you would consider hooking up the outputs of future amp tests to an oscilloscope and show the wave forms of "Clean D" amps like this and "Max power like a Boss!" to show not just how much "MAX POWER" Boss amps don't put out, but how bad the distortion looks. There's always a debate on SQ forums about how class D's can't compare to class A or AB amps for THD, but if there was more visual evidence to show that class D is just as good or better when done right, then you could stir that pot into a whole'nuther arena of internet nerds arguing over minutia. Maybe not even an oscilloscope, maybe just a quality measurement mic up to your nice bookshelves, and show the output noise hiss at no load, or non-linearity of a sweep.

    @8:30 "You'll never hear the difference, that is like 2%". You stated that wrong. The difference is 10 Log 98 - 10 Log 100 = 10 Log (98/100) = 0.87 dB difference side to side. Where you sit relative to the speakers has a lot more variation than the side to side power difference.

    So more or better capacitor! That's pretty much how you keep class D from back feeding noise back into your 12volt system. I don't doubt they know how to bring audiophile sound into car audio.

    • @BH4x0r
      @BH4x0r 3 года назад +1

      not just more and better capacitors, but especially since you're dealing with class D you'll need nice inductors and a very high switching frequency
      generic class D car amps only switch at anywhere between 150kHz and 300kHz, which especially for fullrange audio is quite low, really high quality amps should switch in the MHz range, because it's kinda like bits/s and you'll need less filtering too (saves on inductors and has higher quality)
      you can kinda see it like with how many points per second it can recreate of a soundwave, the more the better especially if you're driving tweeters etc because 150kHz can only reproduce 10 points approximately of a 15kHz waveform
