      No actually they are not.
They are not a rebadged SI amp.
Big D and HI Fi Vega both did separate reviews of those amps.
They were cheap knock offs that looked pretty.
However the components inside were not the high grade we have just seen here.
They came know where close to rated power and sound quality was poor.
It was a pretty enlightening episode on both RUclips channels.

That's one of the nicest looking amps I've seen in a long time, and I've seen a lot. Reminds me of my old "ear candy" Linear Power amps I had when I was a kid. But prettier. It would be even cooler if they used the metal case componants on the power supply also, it would be even longer.

Beautiful amp. I do love the SQ stuff.
It does cost a lot, but compare it to a similarly powered home amplifier, and the price is not too bad for an amp capable of 4x150w in 8 ohms (certified), or 500w x2 in 8 ohms bridged.

Why get a Krell, when you can get this! LOL! That amp is so well laid out and is some very pretty work indeed. As far as cost? $1200 is a DEAL! Getting those parts alone would cost you that much! I wonder if they make a Black Label version that has Esoteric parts in it?
From what I can tell? This seems to be a great investment and a LONG term winner. Amps back in the day cost way more. This seems to be Budget if you ask me from what S.Q. amps use to cost to own.
I like the fact they did not bother with crap in the signal path that need not be there. I have to admit, I would like to see a Crystal or Quartz Glass or Automotive rated glass cover for a Signature model of this amp in the future. Maybe in a future statement release?
What amazes me is that the price of a S.Q. Amp is a Con at this point? You just can't get this level of parts quality at this price so I don't see how the price is con! Its a FANTASTIC VALUE!
Thanks for showcasing this Amp Big D!

They were used in pro audio applications for many years, Peavey and QSC used them into the 90’s before phasing them out in their switch overs to Class H and then to class D. T-03 was super common in instrument amplifiers for the power stage. Very durable and it’s sad they were phased out.

As I mentioned before class A is 0.000001% THD and class B 0.003% THD from what I can remember in the 1980's, I have not seen 1 car amplifier that is lower than 0.01%THD. Where they get there classification from is anyone's guess. It is a class D amp at 0.03% THD. I have a LANZAR Heritage HTG668GBT that has lower THD, 0.01%. THD is the first choice for pure quality, then comes frequency response. The greater the lower and upper frequencies the more representation between.

You do realize that the nature of your argument is literally amounting to paranoid delusions, right? What, do you think companies just claim things with there being no backlash if found to be inaccurate? I understand that marketing can be misleading at times, but you could learn to understand that with variances in technologies, testing methodologies, setup fluctuations, and everything that could be a variable that literally having a standard that actually says what it should be in most cases doesn't make it "completely irrelevant" because some walking doorknob with a YT channel says "it's 1% different than what they claim", for your singular and likely skewed "reference"... 😒

@BigD: We know that you're into that killah bass. We all love that. Using bookshelf speakers along with a gigantic sub, shows that you're interested in home speakers too. So, try this out for us, if you would: make some (3 or 5 pair) of speakers with various sizes of exciters mounted to matching scale-sized foamboard. Then, team those with a powered home sub. Test the frequency responses to see what combination from the various pairs is best. With exciters, do they benefit from bigger panels? Seems like higher power exciters would be able to "drive" bigger panels or reproduce lower tones, but I could be wrong. These components are super cheap, but we (your viewers) don't have any testing equipment to try to measure the frequency responses.
If what you're powering doesn't make a flat response curve, it won't sound right. If that curves varies much (up and down the measurement scale), it won't sound right. Now I realize this is a bit off your typical testing regimen, but even if you measure subjectively at the clarity added by introducing a 2nd, 3rd, etc. pair of exciters to the show, it would be pretty cool. Since you like to mess with boxes, and the like, this might be interesting to you.
Dayton Audio (and a few other companies) make a couple styles of exciter that utilize various power amounts as their intended input peak. From the styles I've seen, ribbons and pucks seem like the two most common technologies. Sometimes the pucks have feet that extend off them, but then you have multiple points of contact you have to adhere to the foam board, but whatever, if it works.
Anyways, this might be a rabbit hole that you would get a kick out of, and have some great speakers when you're done. You can mount exciters to nearly any surface, but the foam board lets the voice coil in the exciter actuate the foam and vibrate it; similar to how a "cone" in a traditional speaker works. There have been some significant tests performed to see what surface works best, and the foam boards are cheap and very functional.
I've actually bought a handful of bluetooth speakers that use this technology, and it's pretty amazing. Even tiny exciters can make hard surfaces bump.

About the oversized speaker terminals. I assume.
Imagine running your front stage with this amp. And its allll the way in the back of a station wagon, or some other long chassis vehicle. Which i think Stereo integrity acttualy did for one of its demo cars. Big gage speaker wire plus looong runs. No voltage loss or signal loss. 👍

Hook it up to some really good home speakers that will either shine, or reveille subtle flaws. I use either some Yamaha ns1000s, or JBL Summit. I compare everything to my Krell ksa 250 or a very old Russian tubed tube amp.

Thank you for the awesome video, beautiful amp you got there. How would you compare this amp to the Boston Acoustics Gt2300 in sound quality and efficiency? I know you tested the Boston Acoustics several years back and was wondering if you remember the sound quality of the Boston Acoustics as it was made by Mosconi back then.

    • @wal

For my PC I use a Bowers & Wilkens 300 watt powered 8" sub. An ancient pioneer 1000watt home stereo, with a pair of 3" Aiwa speakers, and a Sony center channel speaker with 2x3" drivers. That all receives input from the headphone jack of the tv. The TV is fed an HDMI signal from my pc, which includes the 2-channel stereo signal. My pioneer uses dolby technology to let me hear voices through the center, and music through the right/left main speakers. I live in an apartment, so I can't shake the walls much. When I watch sci-fi movies it does shake the floor. Since I have the free back-channel on the amp for another pair of speakers, I'm curious what exciters would sound like hung from the ceiling..

It does rated power, but really doesn't seem to have a lot to offer after that, really not a lot in reserve. Even tho, with the Rubicon's and other quality parts, I bet it does sound fantastic.
