It’s quite literally the same food. NYC (particularly Ellis Island) was the Gate To America. People from China, Ireland, Italy, Germany, etc.. All arrived through Ellis Island. More than 12 million immigrants from 1892-1954 arrived through Ellis Island, all in the hopes of finding their slice of the American dream pie. (Back when the “American dream” was actually attainable).
Gaynor here's the receipe - (all you have to do is pick the pasta you want or any meat you want to add!) 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil 1 large shallot minced 2 garlic cloves minced ⅔ cup tomato paste 3 tbsp vodka 1 cup heavy cream 2 tbsp unsalted butter ½ cup freshly grated Parmesan salt and pepper to taste Place a large skillet over medium heat. Once skillet is hot add oil and sauté shallots and garlic for 3 to 4 minutes, or until aromatics begin to slightly caramelize. Add tomato paste and stir together. Continue to stir until paste turns bright red,2 to 3 minutes. Deglaze skillet with vodka and stir together until vodka evaporates. Add reserved pasta water to skillet and stir together until smooth, about 1 minute. Season with salt and pepper. Stir cream into sauce until mixture is smooth. Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer together, about 3 to 4 minutes. Stir in butter and Parmesan and continue to simmer until sauce is smooth, glossy and has thickened enough to coat the back of a spoon, about 3 minutes. Add cooked pasta to sauce and toss together until fully coated. Season with salt and pepper. Serve with more grated Parmesan and black pepper.

Gaynor didn't understand that, in most restaurants in Italy, you order vegetable side dishes separately. It is the same in most traditional Italian restaurants in New York. If it is a high-end New York Italian restaurant, the vegetable dish is listed separately on the menu. On an Italian menu, a side dish will be listed as "contorno" or "contorni di vedure." I'm certain it was listed on the menu she had , but she didn't know.
I think Gaynor would really enjoy Babish’s channel honestly (I don’t know how keen Daz and Aidan are on cooking videos, but im assuming not very much 😅) He’s recreated some food from The Sopranos, maybe check those out and see?
I know, there are countries where food is enjoyed by using their hands in this case, with the appetizer i suppose that is what it is. Mexican restaurants here in the states in some cases you do have to eat with your hands depending on what you order; there are places in the world where forks, spoons, and knives are completely non-existent.
Yeah, that's a weird phobia I never understood. I have been inside enough kitchens to guarantee you that every ingredient on that first place was placed on there by hand in the kitchen, and without gloves. They just wash their hands often.

You had a video where high schoolers tried Thanksgiving food and Babish recreated the "Moist Maker" sandwich in one of his episodes
Considering how picky Aiden is now, I can only imagine what it was like for Gaynor trying to cook for him as a kid haha You can't have a favorite cultural cuisine if you only eat the same 2 things every time, and one of them is pizza.
They sell vodka sauces in most grocery stores in America I’d assume. It is very good! I’m sure at a restaurant like this it’d be amazing. I’ve never been to a true authentic Italian restaurant. Only Americanized crap like Olive Garden and Fazoli’s…which I still like 😁
They both come down from real Italian grandmas, so why not? Plus, the tomato was brought to Italy from America. So... tiebreaker... we win.
3:35 Jesus Christ the British pallet is fukn atrocious 😂😂😂😂
there is a reason they're the only major country where the cuisine isn't global lol
Lol
That's a little harsh don't you think?

What causes this ?
The fat is where the flavor is. No wonder the British pallet is so bland.

Yes Gaynor is absolutely right. Vodka Penne or Rigatoni is my fave 😋😋
Penne ala vodka is one of my favorites, but it's an American/Italian sauce. You won't find it in Italy.
Love vodka sauce!

I guess they could never have food in or with other South Asians. Everything is shared aa communal dish and eaten with hands in large gatherings.
