Gaynor may be a supertaster. Genetically, some people are capable of picking out individual flavors. She refers to it as an "advanced palate." Supertasters rely on their natural skill and experienced flavors to identify the ingredient. It is a combination of genes and experience. I am a supertaster despite being a smoker. I can identify herbs and spices easily. It sucks when something is slightly off.
Love your videos but Gaynor is absolutely right. Every video in the past, she is almost always providing context to every dish. She really has had some worldly experience in food. She even knew minutia about American cuisine as if she had experienced it and could explain it in past videos and would often at pauses explain it to Daz and Aidan and did for other videos as well. When Daz or Aidan are asking questions, she often brings up information based on what you can simply see she is experienced and she is on point every time with American cuisine so I know that she knows other cultural dishes. Has she had time in the America and other places? So at 2:02 when she challenges Daz and Aidan, they had better hold their cards close to their chest in this poker challenge. I do not doubt for a second that she could have a plate of food and tell you where it came from, especially if challenged to do so against Daz and Aidan. I am so interested on how she knows all of this as a world traveler myself who is an American. She has never disappointed thus far in any video about American food. It is as if she has lived here in many parts of America at some point. You Daz and Adian, might want to fold out of the game :). Heck, I would fold against her even with American cuisine as an American :). My money is on her. Daz, you and I would be brothers with out love for Frank's hot sauce but I love your responses on all foods. Aidan, I love how you seem somewhat reserved and almost not willing to try new foods, but then are always willing to try new things (it is okay of you don't like it) and are willing to expand your horizons. Just one further reply. I heard Aiden say how gross it seemed to try a peanut butter, banana and honey sandwich - can you say Elvis, when you all tried American PBJ sandwiches? Of course add bacon as an addition to one with and without in this process as you might find that adding bacon to any sandwich (at least in the US for Americans) takes it to a whole new level - check out any fast food restaurant in America to see their bacon added dishes. This (even without bacon) is yet another American historical staple grounded on fantastic taste, ease to make and cost in congruence to history. It is simple hearty, tasty and wholesome food as was the simple PBJ (excluding bacon) and I then said to you all that you would have a bunch of interested people looking at this (probably the older (cough, cough, more mature) audiences watching. Also, it would be then great to see an outside party prepare dishes from other parts of the world with one being American and have you all 3 blind-folded to taste test to see where you think they come from and determine which one is American cuisine only. I think this would get many people interested in watching your videos, but I could be wrong and yes, if I were a betting man, my money is on Gaynor (sorry Daz and Aiden). :)
I’m all about the variety of cream cheeses, sweet or savory, depending on the bagel. I have 2 tubs in my fridge right now: chive & onion, and veggie. I usually have it on a toasted English muffin at home.
Here in NYC we have a bagel store in every neighborhood. I come from Brooklyn and buy buttered sesame bagel and cawfee almost every day going to work. Those fat yummy bagel sandwiches are either lunch or weekend brunch. NYC brunch is the best. Ps We all believe that our bagels are yummy because of our New York water.

I've been to a few NY style bagel shops. I had Absolute when I was up there, but I honestly prefer two Ohio bagel shops. Block's Bagels in Reynoldsburg, Ohio (Columbus area) and Bagel Street Deli in Athens, Ohio (Ohio U campus). Block's is a bagel shop ran (at least when I was their 7up rep) by an authentically NYC Jewish lady. She was a hassle to dela with, but her loc and cream cheese bagels were incredible. Its at the edge of the hood and has a mix of clientele from kosher Jews to hipsters to urbanites. Bagel Street Deli was my favorite Sunday brunch spot. We'd all get together and gossip over things we saw at the bars and enjoy bagels and coffee. My faves were the pizza on a pretzel bagel and the classic cream cheese on a cinnamon bagel.
I've legit never had a good bagel outside of the tri-state area. Idk what it is, most people say the water. THAT is how you make a lox bagel. Not what you guys had before on the channel haha
I almost never toast my bagels. I’ve made homemade bagels before. Since his bread, it’s time consuming. I would strongly suggest that if you do decide to make bagels, do it on a day that you have nothing else to do. And start in the morning. Also, if you’re going to boil your bagels, which is the original way of doing them, they Might end up very hard. If you eliminate the boiling process, you have a better chance of having soft bagels.

Taylor ham and Canadian ham are two different things. Canadian ham/bacon is cooked like bacon. Taylor ham or pork roll is a spiced pork is cooked like bacon but has a different flavor and texture from bacon. It is about the same size in circumference as Canadian ham but is distinguished by its flecks of dark pink on the surface. The slices are slit in four places to prevent curling in the frying pan. It is a regional item sold mostly in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. It was created by John Taylor in the 19th century.
My husband loves doing different things with bagels - loves making bagel pizza. When our son was small, Thomas', the English muffin people, introduced English muffin pizza, and they were a great hit at a couple of kids' birthday parties over the years. The kids could put whatever they liked on their own little pizzas. My husband prefers a thick, bready bagel under his toppings. He also likes to make cheeseburgers with bagels, and they are good, but it's very easy for them to fall apart and have bits of bagel and burger everywhere. But good. We have a couple of good bagel shops in this part of Northcentral PA, but we truly like Aldi's own bagels for our breakfast bagels. The hubs isn't big on flavored bagels. You can do what you want with the filling, but he just wants a plain bagel to start with. Me, I'd rather have a flavored bagel with plain cream cheese. We used to have a bagel places not far from the office where I worked and they made a sun-dried tomato and basil bagel that was sooooo good, and with cream cheese, it'd make me happy all day. :)
