Those grits are probably plain with butter mixed in. If that's the case then I would agree that they don't taste very good. Plain grits do not taste good. However when you mix in cheese and other ingredients, they can taste phenomenal. I had some shrimp and grits at a local restaurant that were phenomenal. I think they mixed in a little bit of sugar, it had parmesan and cheddar cheese with seasoned shrimp, and it was finished off with a spicy sauce that was drizzled over the top. It made my mouth burn and it made my nose run, but the seasoned shrimp, and the cheeses mixed in made me want to keep eating. They also put a put corn bread with it which gave it some sweetness.
I’ve only been a few times. They can get very rowdy and dangerous that time of night. They’re usually located right off of the main highway so travelers come in, and all sorts of crowds. Saturday Night Live did a whole sketch about the Waffle House this past season.
Waffle House started in the Atlanta, GA area. They essentially never close. You can come in from a night of partying and order heaven on a plate. They are open so consistently that they are a measurement of how bad a weather event was lol, if Waffle House shut down (Example: Hurricane Katrina) then that event was DEVASTATING.
As a New Yorker I put sugar and butter on my grits, when I lived down in South Carolina they thought I was crazy lol its soooo good. I miss Waffle House SO much. 3 am grits with pecan waffles. I want that to be my last meal lol loved the video
That food cost very little. This WH is famous for the fight that broke out with customers and the famous hard rock band, Kid Rock. No Waffle Houses are Nationwide but it was started in Atlanta, GA. It is a late night restaurant for after a night on the town.
I love grits, they are made from ground up hominy until they are the consistency of sand (thus the name grits). They are what I call a "food canvas," meaning you add the "color" to suit you. A big knob of butter and crushed red pepper flakes, or some diced jalapeno peppers, maybe hot giardiniera, crumbled crispy bacon, or even some red-eye gravy (ham drippings mixed with strong black coffee; sounds weird, tastes YUMMM), this Yankee-boy loves grits with breakfast! If grits is made right, you can become addicted to it. It needs to be cooked just right and have butter in it. I cook mine with half milk and half water. But to be honest, I'll eat just about any bowl of grits no matter how bad it is.
I didn't grow up eating grits, but I've grown to love them. It took me a while to realize that they are a base-type food, like potatoes or rice. You have to add to them to really bring out their deliciousness. I like mine savory the best: with butter, salt, pepper, and an egg over easy on top that I can break and let the yolk run into the grits; or I like to add cheese and red salsa and maybe the egg. If I'm eating sausage gravy on biscuits and have a bowl of grits to go with it, I'll add some of the gravy to the grits. It takes it to another level with the creaminess. I also like them sweet, too, with maple syrup if I'm in the mood for a pancake or waffle, but don't have the ingredients on hand to make them. Maple grits makes for a nice substitute when I'm in a sweet breakfast mood. I like my grits to be more on the thick side. Watery grits just makes the other ingredients that I add to be kind of bland. I want flavor.
My dad was a canner and would make jams, jellies and apple and plum butter from the produce of our orchard. He would give them to us at Christmas. I miss those days.
This is all honestly just regular breakfest stuff I do at home. Scrambled egg and cheese is a staple in America and of my favorites, gotta have bacon and the waffles have to gave syrup. it smacks
I got into a bad car accident in front of a Waffle House in the winter and while waiting for the cops to come, the manager brought my wife and I a couple of coffees because it was so cold. Nice people there.
Grits vary widely from bland to awesome, depending on how they are prepared. Waffle House started in Atlanta, Georgia but have spread all over the south, midwest and parts of the southwest region. Really it is mostly the Pacific states and the extreme northeast that doesn't have it.
The Waffle House Index, a measure of a storm’s severity in an area. If Waffle House closes, you need to get out of the area immediately!!! And their employees are prepared to take you out with a spatula and a fry basket 😂😂😂
Theres a wafflehouse every few miles down the road on the freeway here in the South. Mines on the corner of 50 and Alafaya in Orlando. When the hurricanes took everything out they were the only and I mean the ONLY place open and serving food or providing any kind of service at all for that matter. I dont know how they fed everyone but there was a quarter mile line in front of the joint 24/7 for a week.
I'm American and from the South. Waffle house grits are always nasty and clumpy. The best come from your own kitchen in your own pot because they are so versatile. Some people like them with cheese, salt, sugar, or milk to make them creamy. Also, tastes good with a side of fried fish.
I've lived in Florida 23 years now, been to waffle house many times. There' no comparison to say, a diner from up north in Philly. One big reason is that waffle house is just one huge chain cutting corners everywhere they can(like 90% of restaurants here). Diners up north, are ma and pa businesses with REAL food. I crack up when I see Waffle house get put on a pedestal like this.
5:49 she said it exactly. It’s a grilled cheese with a burger or two in it. I like mine with bacon. It’s called a patty melt in most places. At least I’m pretty sure it’s a patty melt, like you said it could be sausage.
When I was much younger I had the same reaction as these three at Waffle House. A few to many drinks results in great tasting food. Actually WH does have good food, but I would not eat there to often per week.
Yes WH is a southern thing, and not all grits are created equal, they were instant grit I’m sure and probably dry, you can put anything on grits from cheese with salt and pepper too brown sugar and honey like a porridge
One of my fav Jolly episodes. Apple butter is awesome! I put up jars of it in fall during apple season. Great with pork too. Grits need to be prepared in a particular way, actually. Can eat them savory or sweet. Not a fan of the instant version. FYI, Noah is in Ukraine cooking with World Kitchen. Waffle House has a really nice diner selection of food. If you get the chance, stop there.
Yes..WH is mostly in the South...Happy to say we have ZERO WH's in California! 😅All that food is just a "heart attack" on a plate! I guess Georgia has 381 waffle house locations! 😲😆 Btw..I think Noah was fairly inebriated 😂
Plain grits can be pretty boring, flavor wise. I like to add bacon and cheese to mine. I like Asian food such as egg fried rice and I was wondering if you could use grits instead of rice late one night. So I cooked up some grits, got my wok nice and hot, through some eggs and the grits in there together. If you keep stirring it, the eggs and grits together become really fluffy once cooked. I mixed in my bacon and some cheese like usual, and that is the only way I make grits anymore.
I'm American and I think grits are terrible. Definitely an acquired taste. The people who usually enjoy them are those who grew up with them. I didn't grow up in the south, so that counts me out.
grits with butter, salt, pepper, and crumbled sausage is my absolute favorite thing on earth ❤ waffle house is pretty good for breakfast but I prefer eating at places that don't taste like I could have cooked it myself at home lol
Waffle House was the first place to ever sell what we know today as a Chick-fil-A sandwich. The inventor didn’t have enough capital to open his own restaurant so he loaned the rights to Waffle House. It immediately became their best seller and shortly thereafter Chick-fil-A was born.
If that's the truth, that probably explains why Chick-fil-A and Waffle House are the only two places I've ever tried that had a good chicken sandwich! I swear those are the only two places that know how to cook a really good chicken breast for a sandwich.
Waffle House is truly a southeastern thing, though they have began to branch out a little lately. The food is always the same, and always good. In the metro ATL, you’ll find them at what seems like every other highway exit. But there are plenty that are not traveler based. From my house, I can get to 7 within 15-20 minutes. And only 1 is on the interstate. I played in bar bands for years, and WH was the after party. After setting up, playing for 4 hours, and packing up, we usually rolled in around 3:30-4:00am. There were many times driving home as the sun came up with a full tummy ready to crash.
@@ryanlaymon2329 You just googled that. lol Waffle House is mostly in the south and only reaches Arizona. I grew up in California and never heard of Waffle House til the Shaq Comedy Central Roast. lol Same with Chic Filet until 10 yrs ago, another southern restaurant.
If you're going to eat grits, you have to mix something with them. Many people melt a little 🧈 butter on them, then add something sweet; like, Apple 🍎 Butter Jam, Maple 🍁 Syrup, Black 🖤 Strap Molasses. I've seen them mixed up with over medium Eggs 🍳. Waffles are really tasty, but I actually like pancakes 🥞 more. Let some butter 🧈 melt into either type, then add syrup or molasses. I like bacon 🥓 with my waffles or pancakes 🥞 and scrambled eggs is (as we say in the South) the Full Meal Deal Lucille. Sausage Gravy is a flavor multiplier. You don't eat it by itself, because it sucks that way, but combined with a fluffy southern style biscuit, hash-browns (hashed browns) french 🍟 fries, scrambled eggs, corned beef hash, etc., the staple explodes with flavor. While at the store, see if you can find milk gravy either as a powder or canned / jarred 🫙. Meaning, don't wait for some future day to eat it in the South, make it happen for yourselves, now. 🎉😅 I like your reactions, if it's something I'm interested in. Have you guys done any Rodeo Wreck reactions? Big 🤠 Texas 🤗 🇺🇸 🇬🇧
Chickens have chalets. Apple butter looks like poo but is the best and it has a separate flavor from apple like apple sauce . It works on everything literally 👍

Im lucky to be from the midwest becsuse we have the best apple butter. I wake up early every year to go to the farmer's market to get fresh apple butter.
On vacation my mom and I ate at Waffle House a few times, the first time we were in a restaurant when some R&B singer was there, the whole staff recognized her, apparently she was very famous, we had no idea who she was. Noah shouldn't have told him it was syrup, he should have just let him poor it in a cup and see his reaction when he drank straight maple syrup. Not sure why Gaynor doesn't think Apple Butter tastes like apple. It's taste is a more flavorful apple sauce. It's not watery like apple sauce, delicious spread on bread.

My dad was a canner and would make jams, jellies and apple and plum butter from the produce of our orchard. He would give them to us at Christmas. I miss those days.
This is all honestly just regular breakfest stuff I do at home. Scrambled egg and cheese is a staple in America and of my favorites, gotta have bacon and the waffles have to gave syrup. it smacks
Gotta have the grits with cheese and sugar
I got into a bad car accident in front of a Waffle House in the winter and while waiting for the cops to come, the manager brought my wife and I a couple of coffees because it was so cold. Nice people there.
Grits vary widely from bland to awesome, depending on how they are prepared. Waffle House started in Atlanta, Georgia but have spread all over the south, midwest and parts of the southwest region. Really it is mostly the Pacific states and the extreme northeast that doesn't have it.
Now this is what the fans want you guys to try I bet it's number 1 on the request list.
The Waffle House Index, a measure of a storm’s severity in an area. If Waffle House closes, you need to get out of the area immediately!!! And their employees are prepared to take you out with a spatula and a fry basket 😂😂😂
Grits made straight from the box, with their recipe, seem terrific!
Approximately *2,000* Waffle House Restaurants in the United States! *Amazing*
Apple butter is just apple sauce cooked down till it turns brown and has a carmelized flavor
Waffle House has a wide variety of food, including fruit and salads. Though most people get the breakfast food.

The sandwich at the timestamp above is a Patty Melt
Smothered, covered, scattered, and chunked. With two eggs, sunny side up.
I'll just say Noah was definitely on one haha must of been a good "couple" of drinks beforehand.
I grew up with so many Noahs, love that guy
In Missouri we have a whole apple butter making days festival 😂
Definetly try it on your trip to Atlanta.
I'm American and from the South. Waffle house grits are always nasty and clumpy. The best come from your own kitchen in your own pot because they are so versatile. Some people like them with cheese, salt, sugar, or milk to make them creamy. Also, tastes good with a side of fried fish.
Noah wansbeing facetious about the grits. He didn't want them tontrybthe grits cuz he wanted them all to himself. 🤣
He didn't mean he doesn't like grits. He's saying he doesn't like those grits. It depends on who's preparing them.
From California.. I never had it obviously..but my sister who lives in Arkansas lives it..😂😂
Cheese steak melt is steak and it's AMAZING . Went the night of my wedding and we've been every year since 7 years this year
I've lived in Florida 23 years now, been to waffle house many times.
12:04 no… he said THOSE grits were bad. More than likely they’re the instant grits. Those suck.
There are Waffle Houses in literally half the states in the US
@@ryanlaymon2329 You just googled that. lol Waffle House is mostly in the south and only reaches Arizona.
I like your reactions, if it's something I'm interested in. Have you guys done any Rodeo Wreck reactions?
Big 🤠 Texas 🤗
🇺🇸 🇬🇧
Chickens have chalets. Apple butter looks like poo but is the best and it has a separate flavor from apple like apple sauce . It works on everything literally 👍
Apple butter is really good on just bread or toast and you make it into a sandwich
In Florida, Waffle House is how you tell if a hurricane is worth evacuating for. If Waffle House closes, something bad is coming.
This particular Waffle House is my former local Waffle House. It's where my husband got my post labor meal and it was wonderful!
I have never liked grits either. My sister says it's because I never had them cooked properly :)
the thing about Waffle House is you can get an all star for literally dirt CHEAP
all i ate in college
Waffle House, has the best customer vs employee fights, and the customer always throws hands first. That would be a great compilation to look for 😂 also, I think Theo Von has a Waffle House joke in his stand up
Grits are amazing when prepared properly, if you are a person who would like Grits. Even if you are not a person who would like Grits, there is a difference between Grits prepared well and Grits prepared poorly.
He (Noah) was being very honest, not saying that Grits are bad but that those specific Grits were bad. He likes Grits but was quick to recognize that those were not good Grits.
I love Waffle House. I go there almost every Sunday. Apple butter is great too.
I don't like grits either....but Waffle House is the bomb....so good!!
apple butter isn't just a southern thing its a thing in any region apples r grown. Johnny apple seed (real person BTW) planted all his seeds in the midwest. countless apple butter festivals nation wide
