  • I finally uncorked the KTM and I'm testing out some options to carry a bit more stuff.

Good vid ! - I have a "NELSON-RIGG" Tail bag - very similar to yours. Probably 15 lbs in it & I can definitely tell. Doesn't affect riding much, but you can tell it's there. I keep it off most of the time. Obviously, it depends on the "mission"...
I will say this [CAUTION] - If you are headed off road, and plan on doing any jumps - That tail bag WILL hit you in the ass (depending on your style) and TOTALLY throw off your geometry.... Trust me - Found that out the hard way - Almost ate shit LOL !!!!!
    Cheers !

Thank for the heads-up! I am worried about that. The KTM is mostly my OHV park bike (OHV park is only 12 miles from my house) and I definitely enjoy jumping it. I keep struggling with whether I need to take all this shit or not. Most of the guys I see packing all this stuff are doing overnight rides or out in the middle of nowhere. I'm just riding out there for a few hours.

@@chasingtrail Exactly !!! - If I am going out in the middle of nowhere - it comes with - but just playing around for a few hours - out in the desert - I don't bring it. May be the wrong mentality, but I like flying off of shit HA HA....
      Cheers !

@@pilotdane1 Yeah I removed the rear bag and rack this morning. It just affects the handling more than I'd like. The thing I love about this KTM is how light it is. I shoved that shit in my backpack. The hard part of the rack install is done, which was cutting the plastics. If I need to reinstall it at some point I can do it in 10 minutes. I'll reserve that for any longer rides or overnight stuff if I ever do that.

I rode a light ADV bike(a KTM 500 with Moscow moto bags) and it handled surprisingly well. Hopefully you enjoy the bags! my Husky TE300i has a bar bag and I ride with a hydro pack and Fanny pack. It’s a tough battle between weight on me vs weight on the bike. Question.. why didn’t you get the GET ECU vs the the one you got? I talked with Mike from taco moto and he told me the vast majority of 350/500 owners go with the GET. As always I love the videos! Also fators is the best! Cori and Tyler are awesome guys

      Incoming wall of text!
I can definitely feel the extra weight on the bike and I don't really like that. One of things I like so much about this KTM, and the main reason I bought it over other options, is the light weight. When I start adding weight to it I remove the very thing I like about it so much. I hear you on struggling with the weight on me vs weight on the bike. That weight is either in my backpack tiring me out faster, or it's on the bike and changing the handling. I'm still not sure what the best solution is.
I'm also struggling with whether I really need to carry so much stuff for just riding around Chappie. It's not like I'm doing a BDR or something. It's probably overkill. I can't decide between having a minimal, but fun, setup vs a prepared, but less fun, setup.
Regarding the GET, I watched Mike from Taco Moto's video comparing all the different options and he said the Dobeck style controller I purchased was good enough for most people. I'm a mediocre rider at best and figured it would meet my needs and is only a quarter the price of the GET setup. If the KTM were my only bike I would've splurged and gone for the GET, but I just bought the Tenere 700 and spent more than I should have so I wanted to keep the uncorking cost to a minimum. I'm happy with the setup.

It does still sound quiet on the video.

I think it's because I have the spark arrestor in. I was able to hear it pretty well on other videos. I also have a lot of wind noise in my helmet that I'm going to try to sort out somehow with windscreen options. I got a bracket on eBay that will let me slide the windshield up or down so I'm going to experiment with that first. The buffeting doesn't knock my helmet around but it is very loud.

    Still quiet...but not loud ...

It hits the sweet spot for me. Sounds better, still better airflow, but not obnoxious. I'm sure I'd notice even more power without the ultra silent insert, at the expense of it being obnoxious. I met with some guys at the OHV park with the same bike and just the endcap and the thing was very loud.
