This scene is the epitome of what makes batman great. The thugs are a danger, the cops are a danger because they don't know about the hostages, the joker is a danger, two ferries full of people ready to blow each other up are a danger, and its just bats running around, single-handedly stopping all the chaos saving literally everyone.
Joker >> The Batman >>>> The dark knight trilogy >>>>> Marvel

@KoPHuLLloH it’s very noticeable but I find it with at least this scene it’s super enjoyable still. It’s just peak Batman for me in him being able to fight a bunch of people and calculate his next moves. He really seems like he’s 2-3 steps ahead of everyone on what’s going on. He’s fighting 3 swat members at one point and he’s even hogtied them all in the midst of it. Before he did that, he thought about the floor above and planted all those bombs on the right pillars all quickly with no error. That’s just Batman to me with being a master tactician and fighter. Actually the film came out before the Arkham game, they probably used this scene as reference.
Kyle Hallman it’s not necessarily. It’s a sonar device that allows Batman to hear and see everything in the city via cellular connection provided by satellite interphase. He can stand in one part of Gotham and hear something miles away within the city limits. It’s an invasion of privacy because Batman can hear see everything in every part of Gotham as long as there is good cellular coverage which will be most places so that’s why he only used it once to find Joker at the Pruit building. Detective mode is a combat forensic x-ray that can detect live rounds, weapons/crates, hostiles, etc. It doesn’t have any audio and you can only see where you are and not further.
2:20 Hans Zimmer's incredible score mixed with a robotic Morgan Freeman voice is such an auditory treat.

It's always great how Nolan managed to bring in the classic white eyes in his realistic Batman universe in a way.
White eyes often are looking a lot better than normal eyes. I mean lets imagine spiderman with "realistic eyes" that would look ridiculous. Same with Batman.
Andrzej Sobański that argument doesn’t work with Spider-Man dude he wears Lenses
Big Papa美しい朝 Okay, imagine mark 50 Iron Man armor with realistic eyes. Or Deadpool. Or black panther. Looks ridiculous.
Andrzej Sobański Well Black Panther did have see through eye slits. At least in his solo movie. Which forsure made him look ridiculous and not as cool as his suit in Civil War
@@andrzejsobanski6752 Check out Alex Ross's Iron Man paintings. He interprets him in his Silver Age armor with the eye slits, actually looks kinda menacing.
This trilogy is just...unbeatable... true piece of art.

Lord of the Rings? Spider-Man Trilogy?
Epiccomedy Joker was okay. Nothing special, just a really good performance from Joaquin but that’s because he’s an incredible actor.
@@superloaf4200 i can say the same thing about Heath Ledger
Epiccomedy not really. Ledger gave an unforgettable performance in an already phenomenal movie, whereas Joaquin gave a great performance in a movie with good cinematography and a rather lackluster everything else.
That heroic theme that kicks in around 2:15 gets me every time, seeing Batman quickly make the "greater good" decision to take out the SWAT team even though it instantly destroys his reputation. And he still saves everybody!!! The craftsmanship in these films is magnificent.
It's even more impressive when you consider Nolan is low-key showing restraint. Batman is relatively quite visible in this scene. There's a few full body shots of him. Because one of the audience complaints about the first film was that you couldn't really see him in the fight scenes. Which Nolan intended. He wanted Batman to be like the monster in a horror movie. So this is him actually dialling it back a little.
it makes me tear up and dont know why
Batman doesn't give af about his reputation that's like his whole shtick
Well said. Powerful, moving display of heroism. Archetypal.
Yes!! I like the music choice here because I think it's actually an up-tempo version of the score used when bruce was training with Ra's Al Ghul on the ice in Batman Begins (Eptesicus), Where he learns about "The will to act". The music ties together in a great full circle of Batman in training to Batman in his prime, executing everything he was taught (and some things he wasn't like preserving life) and eventually showing why ultimately Ra's was wrong about Gotham.
2:06 The Joker at the top of the building like the final boss
Beautiful ❤️
Yep especially in the Arkham Games where sometimes you could see the boss on the other room/floor through detective mode.

@@ShimSladyBrand They were falling one by one, not at once. There was enough time to shoot and I'm sure that they would have shooted if it was a real situation. And there was also a sniper in the chopper.
@@16thChemical They won't shoot till Gordon orders them.
Think about this: Batman saves the SWAT team from being ambushed the only way he can; by collapsing the floor beneath them, leaving them free to attack him. He knowingly exposes himself to extreme danger in order to save the people trying to arrest him. And when they do indeed crash down and corner him, he saves them yet again by incapacitating them without injury. Batman’s heroism in these films knows no bounds.
3:45 I love how the Swat guy tells him to step away from the edge. They all know Batman could easily just jump off to escape, nice touch of dialogue there!

@Nealen the Nerd there's no "technically" on this comment. My comment still stands.
A casualty is someone killed or injured. It is also the loss or damage of equipment, materiel, or structures.
@@Illisil I know right
This is the scene right here that inspired the gameplay for the Batman Arkham games. Batman is outnumbered against multiple gunmen in a complex situation, he has his “detective mode” on to scan the area, he utilizes a variety of gadgets around the environment to defeat his enemies rather than facing them all directly, and he doesn’t kill anyone while doing so.
This was an example of peak Batman performance. And it was also why the Arkham games ended up being so fun to play, making you almost feel as if you really were Batman.
The Arkham games owe a lot to the dark knight
Bravo Nolan
Yup
That is how the detective mode was born
It not only birthed the Detective Mode for the Arkham games, but in doing so made a lot of later Predator sections get *very* creative in making sure you weren't too overpowered in having it, what with jammers or scanning your location if you abuse it.
Funny thing, Arkham Asylum was actually suppose to be the video game version of The Dark Knight but it was scrapped.

SWAT teams act fast and the information given to them is thus usually kept short and concentrated. Explaining such a complicated situation to a member just to change plans and tactics would've taken too much time. Either for one squad to kill the hostages or for the enemy to accomplish the plan

2099: Grandpa tell me about the story of " Batman : The Dark Knight" the greatest superhero movie ever made.
Batman really utilized his tactical aspect in The Batman Riddler's goons fight and TDK swat scene.
This is why Batman my favorite superhero. He use his brain and man muscle rather than superpower like other mainstream superheroes.
I agree with the comments that fight choreography are sub par, but I guess Nolan wasn't focusing on unarmed combat here. The focus of this film is the story telling and character. The action scenes are not abt combat but conflict. 20 years later I'll remember this film as the best Batman movie because his journey and not because of the fights.
A second close one is The Batman. Now fight choreography in there is top notch.
The score is something else LEGENDARY
100%
This scene is so layered and amazingly made. Only a mind like Chris Nolan can do this.
2:33 the best shots scene ever!
Growing up with Batman in the 90s, I watched the animated Batman with the white eyes behind the mask. This is the first Batman live action that brought that to life.Thank you Christopher Nolan
3:36
Swat: Drop the officer!
Batman: Very poor choice of words!
The good old days still miss them days as a kid.
Should have started the video from when Batman appears and says "It's not that simple".
That’s so true
Here I am, after 12 years, after seeing it more than 100 times, still watching the clips on RUclips. God what a masterpiece. This is the ultimate batman movie, the characters, the setting the story perfectly fits batman's world but at the same time it renews it. And even if you don't like comic books or don't know shit about batman this is an incredible crime thriller story. What a timeless classic
Best live action batman ever. He didnt even kill one guy and subdued everyone with style
Nishanth Naik because that’s what the plot demanded
He killed a lot of people, not in this scene but during the entire trilogy.
He killed harvey dent thats all about i gues
@@retrostage2419 Not that much compared to Keaton or Affleck, and he didn't even killed intentionally.
@@TheBatman39 True, I'm just saying.
someone once wrote a comment saying "2:04 my mom when i forgot to take the chicken out the freezer"
had me dying for days lol
Damn.... 2:22 !!! The best definition of the word "Dope" is....
Morgan Freeman's voice "See the bad guys on the floor above"
+
the BGM exactly hitting the best part of it
+
that cool sonar equipped visuals
NOLAN, the genius!
This scene is an absolute masterpiece, all the different events coming together.
0:16 they just found a way for him to narrate didnt they
Wym?
@@johnp.smithasimpleman7281 Narration of Morgan Freeman is popular and epic. Nolan sneaked it in the movie.
True lol
EPILEPSY MODE: ACTIVATED
Its cool how Bat sonar predates detective mode in the Arkham games and that Arkham asylum is basically the movie tie in game for The Dark Knight.
People may say later games stole combat from Arkham but Arkham Asylum stole sonar vision from TDK. 😂
lol true
Meanwhile, Pattinson's Batman would've been shot like 27 times and Batfleck would've killed both the hostages and the SWAT team.
😂
True
And both are more realistic approach, you either kill like a human, or you are tankier than human. There's no way SWAT team won't shoot you on sight.
i feel like bale’s batman is the best combination of both. he has the skill of affleck but the no killing of pattinson
Yeah taking a shotgun bullet to the fucking chest and surviving is very realistic @@АлексейКазаков-и5ц
0:10 Detective mode
In arkham origins it was called detective vision
When the swat said “put down the officer” Batman should have replied with “very poor choice of words”
Batman is a man of action but yeah that would be epic if he did say it!
Hostages are thugs, thugs are hostages.
What a brilliant genius ironical tactics.
1:20 Watching this scene in theatres(with Hans Zimmer's score coming in)...goosebumps on top of goosebumps!
2:17 Alfred: He is not being a hero, he's being something more.
The incredible presence of mind, the unnatural situational awareness, the flabbergasting agility and strength, the indomitable will, the fierce determination to save everyone. This scene shows the true abilities and skills of Batman and why he is the best superhero in all comics.
This scene made us feel that saving people as batman does in animated series is actually possible in real life the same way
Honestly, I love batman only cause he's a Real life Hero. You see other heroes, either they are totally fictous, inherited the unreal superpowers, use things that are impossible until like decades or centuries to come. Batman... He is often blamed by losers of not being a superhero in team of DC. He worked for what he is, he had billions yet he saw the tragedies and decided to take a stand alone by always having careful plans. He uses things like martial arts, gadgets (that can still be constructed if some good inventors team up) and without those we have seen he is still unbeatable. He is someone that anyone with a hard life (loss of parents, absence of friends, someone with everything & nothing at same time) can follow to stand for justice even if it means to stand alone. He is love. He is batman. He is my hero. He is a real hero. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
3:45 and that's why kids he's called The Batman
EDIT: thanks for so many likes
Minute 2:22 shows how brilliant Batman is. This sequence shows how spot-on Nolan's vision about Bruce Wayne's intelect and decision making. Hope we can see this in the next Batman movie.
Joker might steal that movie but this scene shows why Batman is and always will be a genius.
This movie reminds me of the video game,Arkham Knight.
The detective mode.🖤🦇
Alfred.
Lucius Fox.
James Gordon.
The masked thugs.
Joker's dark truth about Bruce.
The hostages.
The gadgets.
The cape when his gliding off the building.
The grapple gun.
The Batmobile.
WayneTech.
The Disruptor.
Bruce having time to change suits on a rooftop in the movie and the game🤣.
I feel that joker made hostages look like hostiles for many reasons
From this reasons is to make batman fight the swat and defend hostiles making his actions look like a criminal
BRILLIANT!!
However, he did not think that Batman wasn't doing what he does for fame. He can discard his fame easily. Besides he had cops chasing him in Batman Begins. Didn't stop him back then.
To waste time and cause chaos
Dark Knight is the pinnacle of any Batman movie
Hans + nolan= masterpiece
Legendary!
