    This is exactly why this channel is one of the only perfume RUclipsrs I am subscribed to. I love how you get to use your degree from the perfumery school into this and sharing the process of making a perfume, which makes every penny spent on the perfume we buy worth it. Pls keep this up! @@jusderose I actually have a question: in the video, you guys mentioned that the roses smell different in the morning than in the afternoon, do you think it’s why perfumes tend to smell different depending on the weather? I noticed this with a lot of my perfumes, like Philosykos which smelled coconutty and creamy on a hot summer day but smells more green when it’s colder. Or with Un Jardin Sur La Lagune, which I noticed smelled more floral (and lasts way longer) on cold weather than when it’s hot (and the woody notes shine brighter than the white florals). Idk, I just thought you might have an insight on this.

    Amazing!
    May I ask in which way Grasse is the Capital of perfumery?
    Western Parfumery was not invented in France. Or do I have my facts wrong?

    • @jusderose
      @jusderose  3 месяца назад

      Grasse is known for its exceptional quality of ingredients like rose centifolia, violet leaf, tuberose and jasmine. Rose centifolia in particular is the most prized natural grown in Grasse. As a result of the high quality of naturals, a lot of the big fragrance manufacturers have operations there (land to grow the plants and manufacturing plants) as well as many perfumers are based there or come from that region. Part of the interview with Jean-Philippe mentions this Grasse heritage and how it all started.

    • @CristinaCannizzaro
      @CristinaCannizzaro 3 месяца назад

      I What I knew is that modern European perfumery had already been established in Italy since the Renaissance, while in France it was practically unknown.
      In fact, the oldest perfumery in the world is the perfume-pharmaceutical workshop of Santa Maria Novella in Florence (which I visited years ago and it is an incredible place) and during the tour of the workshop they explained to us that it was when Caterina de Medici married in 1543 the king of France and who brought with her a trusted personal perfumer Renato Bianco, that the art of perfume arrived in France. Renato Bianco became famous in France as René Le Florentine because after having settled in Paris following Caterina, Renato Bianco opened his own shop in Pont Saint Michel, one of the most elegant streets of the capital: René le Florentin's shop was the destination of the best Parisian society and the essences produced by the master soon became an indispensable element for the city's nobility.
      Thanks to the work of the Italian perfumer, perfume shops opened throughout Paris and therefore it was an Italian who basically transmitted his art to French perfumers who then perfected it over the centuries up to the present day. And since I know for sure that even the “soupe aux oignons” is not a French recipe but it’s basically Florentine Carabaccia Medieval recipe brought in France also by Caterina de Medici, why should I doubt that something similar also happened with perfumery? And in reality the first modern perfume with oils wasn't even Italian because it was created even earlier in Hungary in 1370 for Queen Elizabeth of Hungary. So from the information I have, perfumery is historically not born in France, but it was certainly brought to its Glory by the French, perfumers! In any case Grasse is a wonderful place that I personally visited when I lived in France, and its roses are the best in the world, although there are other places in the world that can boast exclusivity on certain ingredients such as Calabria for Bergamot or Florence for Iris absolute or certain places in the Middle East for Oud. But as a huge lover of florals I was enchanted by Grasse, and I am grateful to French perfumery for giving me some of the most incredible floral perfumes I own: one of them is Nuda Veritas by Atelier des Ors of which I own Edp and Extrait…. It's one of the most elegant jasmines I've ever smelled! And I certainly find this video amazing and it brought me back to my years in France and how beautiful was Grasse when I was there!
