sounds like a whole lotta bullshit to me. The black people have every right to fear for their lives when the police pull them over. Studies evaluating big data consistently show that black and brown people are targeted more frequently by the cops. Cops go into poorer communities, where POC are overrepresented and go after the poor people of color because they know that their lives do not hold the same political sway as, say a white person. There's a lot out there about racialized stereotypes and the effect it can have on groups of people in a minoriy/majority. Especially with the anti-black foundation of this country (slavery, jim crowe, war on drugs, etc.) we see many cultural undertones of racism and injustice. These undertones have detrimental effects on the way we treat and value different groups of people. Law enforcement disproportionately targets black people due to the school of thought they subscribe to, labelling an entire race as criminal. And the interaction between dominant cultures and sub cultures eventually forces black people to become a self-fulfilling prophecy. If there is no justice and you are born a "criminal" simply for the color of your skin, then why not commit crime. Also it is not true that black people commit more crime. Looking at usage/criminalization ratios for marijuana across racial lines show that black and white people use the illegal substances at the same rates, however black people are punished doubly. Don't tell me that black people are playing "roles" when there is a genuine reason for them to live with a sense of fear. There is a TARGET on their backs and they have every right to ADVOCATE FOR JUSTICE.

My suggestion was for “sentencing” which a judge decides on. Yes jury’s can decide on the death penalty but a judge decides how long an offender stays in prison. That’s why there’s a separate sentencing hearing after an offender is found guilty or not guilty by the jury. The jury does not decide how many years an offender goes to prison for.

I think that it is to avoid conversations getting out of hand, since the topics and questions are usually very sensitive everyone does their best to be respectful at first but it can get out of hand pretty quickly, putting a timer ensures that even if te conversation begins to enflame you just put the tension down again. The war on drugs is the biggest justice system issue there is. Criminalizing people for things that would generally only affect themselves should be non criminal, i'm talking any non violent drug possession.. If we were truly free you'd be able to get education on all drugs and decide what you put in your body with no consequence other then the drugs afffects to yourself. Most currently locked up offenders are non violent drug offenders.. its a cash cow rather then to help peoples real mental problems trap them in a cycle that constantly takes their money and gives them no hope. Rather then allow the study of drugs like weed that could reduce use of other drugs and be medically beneficial even to this day its schedule 1 which means its illegal to even research it... which makes it easier to lie to people about its affects and push other drugs which the government sales secretly and makes tons of money off then in return lock up those same people and make money off their lives(Freeway Ricky for example)...... Our system is fucked in many ways.
