I remember being a Metallica fanboy saying "Megadeth is crap" before I heard any Megadeth song. Anyway one time I've had enough of reading comments such as "Megadeth > Metallica" so I decided to listen to some Megadeth to be sure it's really crap. I typed "Megadeth" on youtube and clicked the first link. After first 5 seconds of Holy Wars I Knew I've just discovered my favorite band. Maybe it's not that long but after 6 years Megadeth is still my favorite band and I'm sure it will be until my last breath. You guys are legends.

Most perfect album ever. This is what influences me constantly when I play or write something. My "musical life objective" is to write an album that I like almost as I love RIP. I love this, there isn't ONE wrong single note. Listening to this album killed me, I still listen it now after many years and I never get tired. It's a nuclear warhead, it's so powerful, capable of that "megadeath" that inspired the Megadeth band name.

I was introduced to this album totally by accident.
When I was a teenager, I was really into AC DC. One day I bought the AC DC album, FLICK OF THE SWITCH.
But when I brought the album home and put it in the cassette player, it was RUST IN PEACE album. The tape said AC DC but it was Megadeth. How did that happen? I wondered if it happened to anyone else?
It was late 1990. I didn't even know who it was but I couldn't stop listening to it. It opened up a door for me. It was unlike anything else I ever heard before.

Rust In Piece is just on the whole another level. I remember 5 years ago, when I just started listening to Megadeth this was my first year at the university, some good memories float from my mind. The first album I fell in love with was actually Peace Sells, but when I heared Rust In Piece it absolutely blew my mind. It's just on the whole another level. Even though I am a bassist, I've been practising Tornado Of Souls main guitar riff lately. For a few years I've been trying to learn it when I was playing acoustic guitar for a brief period of time, but I was never successfull. That was until lately I finally managed to play this killer riff on the freaking bass guitar! That was just absolutely awesome! Dave I love the whole album, each song is a masterpiece, each time I listen to Rust In Piece I get that huge amount of energetic vibe and the chemistry between all four of you gusys. It's just so great, that I can't imagine my life without it. Thank you to all of you Megadeth! To both Daves, to Marty, to Nick (may his spirit rest in piece) and to each member of Megadeth that has ever performed songs from Rust In Piece live or helped to produce the album! I still hope that some day I will be able to see you perfoming live! Kudos to you!

i’ve been listening to rust in peace for 2 years now every single day! i never get tired of it and every time i listen to it, i enjoy it as much as i did the first time... i believe one of the reasons why i consider being alive is because i get to listen to rust in peace over and over again.
what a masterpiece; thank you so much for this great work of art... your passion has inspired me to keep on going forward in life and this album has become a huge part of me; i do love your other albums in fact megadeth is my favorite band of all time but rust in peace is just something completely different for me i can’t even explain it with words i never can thank you enough for this.
thank you so much for changing my life dave... thank you.
i remember the days that i would sit down and listen to holy wars on repeat and how those lyrics spoke to me growing up in the middle east all i witnessed my whole life was war and poverty and how organized religion destroyed my country and the only way i’d get peace was listening to that song and taking in all the passion and meaning you put into that particular song and i would feel it with every little inch of my mind and body.

I love that David is giving Marty some respect and acknowledgement here. I have heard David say some disrespectful things about Marty since his departure. He honestly somewhat comes across as a man who talks bad of an ex-girlfriend to hide that he misses her when he does this. David is a good and smart man and purely talented. But his refusal to give up grudges...
I would love to see Marty reunite with Megadeth. But sadly I doubt this will happen.

This macho tough guy don't fuck with me persona he built on his early years still shows sometimes, but in the end he's a great guy who loves what he does and loves being surrounded by great musicians which fill in the blanks where his creativity falls short. It's funny how many people still see him as good ol' asshole Dave, but I think the guy just likes to speak his mind and there's nothing wrong with that in my book.

But... most important very well structure together with Max Norman. Not just a bunch of solos, but 'great solos' in the right moments. I love the Mustaine's vocals on Countdown. It sounds so well thought and meticulously design. As you see in the Making Off Youthanasia, the vocal lines in "Addicted to chaos" was an incredible achievement. Had a similar experience with Countdown to Extinction. I had something similar to a paper route and got my huge CD player (shock protected) with me. I listened to the album for 8-10 hours in a loop and the next day I forgot to take a different CD with me so it was the same again...My english was bad and it took quite some time to get behind misinterpreted lyrics. I love the sound of that album and I really hated the anniversary remix. Last Album I bought again was Killing is my Business on Vinyl and it's the best the album ever sounded. These Boots were collateral damage, but he tried several years to get his lyrics in and probably was fed up to censor it again or leave it out. So you got original lyrics with dave's twist in print on the sleeve.

I remember taking a trip to the city with my cousin, buying this Megadeth record and rushing home to put it on. I played the first three songs back to back (I couldn't turn it off, I was so captivated). Finally I turn around and my cousin is just sitting there looking bored. I said "isn't this fucking incredible??" and he shrugs "yeah, it's alright". I knew then that there are people who love music like me and then people that just don't get it and never will.
One thing I love about Megadeth is sitting there with the amazing artwork, reading the lyrics, the liner notes and just losing myself. Each album was like visiting another planet. To then be able to pick up a guitar all these years later and play Holy Wars or Rust In Peace...Polaris note for note makes me feel like a god.
As magnificent a triumph as Dystopia is, I'd love Dave to consider bringing in someone old school on the production of the next record- maybe even get in someone with a unique style like Alex Perialas or Terry Date. Get it mixed & engineered by Joe Baressi who did the last Tool album. It needs to be less loud, more space sonically.

I also thought, after making it, about maybe sticking Reign on Mean Gene as he looks on in awe at the two titans, the pinnacle of Thrash. I know most would say Reign in Blood is the best but hearing it being mentioned along side Rust and Puppets, and knowing their time changes and complex song structure I was expecting something abit more from Reign than a one dimensional, 30 minute dash to the finish line. I forget if it was Hetfield or Burton who said it, but you can only be the fastest guy in town for so long until you have to expand out. It's title track and Angel of Death are fantastic, no doubt about that but I was kinda hoping for a little more from it when compared to what Metallica and Megadeth were doing.
