Her son the earl of Harewood was a famous opera critic and administrator and I once hear him interviewed on the radio when he talked about his experiences as a soldier during World War Two. When he was demobilized following the war's end he had to be counselled by the army chaplain to make sure he could fit back into normal life and the counsellor asked if he knew anyone back in London to which modestly he replied that he had an uncle who lived in central London.
Love it! Someone should write a book on the lives of royals no one knows about (because they didn't cause scandals.) The RF includes some very interesting people.
As much as I know about Princess Mary’s brothers, I didn’t really know much about her. What a fascinating, interesting woman. That Christmas Box story was intriguing. I really liked the photos you showed, but the zooming was a bit much. Everyone’s heads got cut off, before you had moved on to the next selection.
What an interesting woman! I would like to have known her. She seemed very grounded, like Princess Anne, also the only daughter. I see so much of Queen Elizabeth and Princess Margaret in her looks. Thank you for posting!
What a nice touch giving them to the Men on the front lines. Couldn't see some forgettable republican president Having the same affect. You would Have to have rocks in your head for England to become a Republic.
Queen ElizabethIi looked very much like her Aunt in both their mature years. I had to glance twice at one picture ,thinking it was the Queen. Princess Mary was A Selfless Royal. Princess Royal Charlotte will have 2 wonderful Royal Princess Aunt to look up to in her growing years. 💜
My mother grew up in England during the reign of George V, so I learned more about the royal family from her than from history books in American classrooms!
I enjoyed your narration. The pictures were wonderful. As much as I like looking at historic fashion; I would prefer that you zoom in on the person's face rather than his/her clothing/midriff. @ 8:51 Mary resembles Queen Elizabeth II.
Yes! In the future please zoom in on the subject’s face. Also, it would help to put names under the people in the photos. I did enjoy this bit of history of the only daughter of a king.

A very arrogant answer if the plagiarism is correct. Compensate the author, delete the plagiarism and then politely ask the author for permission to authenticate and/or change the current text.
Additionally, it was not a “mistake” you had to know exactly what you were doing and from what you were copying. In defence of the author, don’t make things worse, or you can get sued.
Honestly never seen such sad children, it isnt just the era either, in every pic ive ever seen of these children they always look like they are in pain
Err no, they look like her, as she came first. The whole lot resemble Queen Mary, men and women. Through several generations. Must have had incredibly strong genes!
I really enjoyed this. Information that I haven't heard or seen on any other channel or podcast. You should definitely have more subscribers - I've just subscribed and wish you well.
What a pleasant surprise to find out this woman even existed , I , I never heard of her before I thought there was just boys. And yes I think Ann looks like her too..
She married a Lascelles, I believe the uncle of " Tommy" Lascelles the late Queen Elizabeth's private secretary portrayed in The Crown as also a grump!
I never knew a thing about Princess Mary! Both Princess Anne (& Zara) and the late Queen Elizabeth II resemble her. She sounds an awful lot like Princess Anne in temperament! I like her!
Also, Queen Elizabeth & Princess Anne. Queen Mary’s genes were potent in all three women. There was always something about Mary of Teck’s gaze that passed down to many of her Windsor descendants, none more than the late Queen.
Absolutely horrible closeups.. why would I want to hone in on the torso of the subject in every single picture? Learn to do this correctly. It’s annoying.
The zooming in the video is annoying and cutting off the faces while showing the torsos in the end. This "zoom" feature of editing whoever designed it, should not be used in people portraits. I was so annoyed, I could not watch past a third of the video
King George V and Kaiser Wilhelm II did not share the same family name. The Kaiser was a Hohenzollern. George V was Saxe-Coburg-Gotha, later Windsor. Get your facts right. Princess Mary was married off to a man nearly old enough to be her father. He was an old grouch. The only thing in its favour was the money. She deserved so much better. It was not a love match. There was never any passion. Mary produced two sons, who were frightened of their grandfather and much older father. As they were only the sons of a peer they were not royal. Letters Patent King George V 1917 prevented that. They were merely older aristocratc cousins of the younger more senior York Princesses. Their Gloucester and Kent royal cousins were also more senior in the line of succession.
As a child she was frequently photographed with Edward (the Duke of Windsor) and Albert {George VI). The adult photographs are her two sons George and Gerald.
1:14 "it is evident that he loved them..." Really? It wasn't evident to THEM. When Lord Mountbatten, who was Prince Edward's (later Edward VIII and even later Prince Edward again) best friend's father died, Edward said (after seeing the grief his father's death caused him) said "I envy you because if my father died, I would be glad." He verbally abused and browbeat all of them that's why they turned out so effed up Edward--romping with other mens' wives, manorexia, chain smoker. Bertie--stuttering chain smoker. George--bisexual, drug addict, illegitimate babies (one of whom married Jackie Kennedy's sister).
Both King George and Queen Mary may have loved their children but, unfortunately, the children did NOT get the message! They were cold parents and the King was verbally and emotionally abusive to the point that most people were scared to death of the public “dressing-down “ they received by him. Albert, being the “spare” was abused by his nanny and developed a stutter, which the King only made worse. Please stop the “whitewashing “ of what has been proven true trough documentation.

Thank you so much.
Thank-you
There is a very strong family resemblance to her great niece Anne the current Princess Royal, and also great great niece Zara.
Zara very strongly
Her son the earl of Harewood was a famous opera critic and administrator and I once hear him interviewed on the radio when he talked about his experiences as a soldier during World War Two. When he was demobilized following the war's end he had to be counselled by the army chaplain to make sure he could fit back into normal life and the counsellor asked if he knew anyone back in London to which modestly he replied that he had an uncle who lived in central London.
Love it! Someone should write a book on the lives of royals no one knows about (because they didn't cause scandals.) The RF includes some very interesting people.
@@voyaristika5673 Trouble is that if they are unknown there probably isn't any information about them and no scandals -therefore boring!
What a beautiful young woman she was. Does anyone else see a resemblance to her, the late Queen and Princess Anne?
So many people say that. It's true!
Yessss
Yes I see it
I saw it immediately.
Exactly what I was seeing. Her quest for privacy also calls to how The Princess Royal lives her life.
Princess Ann does look like her. I did not know about her.

She look like princess Ann
Looks, not look. Princess, not princess. And because Princess Mary was born first, Princess Anne looks like her.
Bundle of joy …1. English may not be their first language..2.. auto correct kicked in…3…does it really matter if she forgot an s or a capital p..
Princess Anne (with an e)looks like Princess Mary.
Hateful people. You knew what they meant by post. Shame on you.
@@jilltagmorris VERY pernickety indeed 🤣 some people are like this🙄
Princess Mary was beautiful , Princess Anne is like her .
Aged 21, Princess Mary reminded me of Princess Margaret. Aged 50, she looked like Queen Elizabeth.
There's ONE shot where she looks like Princess Anne (She is in the tiara, her head cocked to one said & her brows raised -starts at 8:18)
A very well done piece; however, the zooming in on individuals, cutting off their upper torsos and heads, makes no sense and was very annoying.
What an interesting woman! I would like to have known her. She seemed very grounded, like Princess Anne, also the only daughter. I see so much of Queen Elizabeth and Princess Margaret in her looks. Thank you for posting!
My partner purchased one of those Christmas tins for my birthday last year. It's got some dents in it and was empty, but it's still precious
What a nice touch giving them to the

I had never heard of her before this. Very interesting, thank you
Glad you enjoyed it
I knew of her, but I knew nothing about her. A remarkable young woman for her time.
I hate that the zooms cut off the faces. This is mechanical foolishness and is visually disturbing.
This aggravated me too
Yes I see a strong family resemblance from her to Queen Elizabeth and to Princess Anne. Interesting life of Princess Mary - thanks for posting 🤩
I enjoyed your narration. The pictures were wonderful.
As much as I like looking at historic fashion; I would prefer that you zoom in on the person's face rather than his/her clothing/midriff.
@ 8:51 Mary resembles Queen Elizabeth II.
Thoroughly enjoyed video, however, found the zooming in annoying.
Sorry about that
The current Princess Royal . Princess Anne is the spitting image of her Great Aunt Mary . Is she not ?
I think Zara looks even more like her great-great-great aunt.
Yes she is.
@marywenzel3199 only great great
Absolutely.
Absolutely, Zara is the spitting image of Mary
Very nicely put together but putting up a photo, then slowly zooming in to their bosom’s was very annoying.
Agreed ! Every photo .....
Yes! In the future please zoom in on the subject’s face. Also, it would help to put names under the people in the photos. I did enjoy this bit of history of the only daughter of a king.
She also reminds me of lady Gabriella Windsor
I only thought of that this week, very string genetics in the Windsor family since queen Mary
I really see the resemblance to Queen Elizabeth. Beautiful lady.
I see a lot of Margaret as well. Genetics are so interesting.
Lady Louise doppelgänger ❤
Nonsense, actually.
Indeed
When I heard the narrator say "George the 5" I knew it was an AI.
Also "Harewood" should be pronounced "harr-wood" and Lascelles should be said to rhyme with "tassles"
Queen Eliabeth favored her in looks.
I didn't even know about Princess Mary, so thank you for the upload. Could you tell us more about her 3 younger brothers and their families
Sure!

@user-ev4ie2wx7k no, it isn't just straight faces, it's pain
Princess Anne’s doppelgänger. But at 9:57 she looks like Queen Elizabeth ii.

Princess Anne’s daughter, Zara is a carbon copy. How freaky.
A fascinating lady
She was President of the Junior Red Cross and during the Queens Coronation I met her as I represented S Wales
there were some things in here I didn't know about Princess Mary.
Well, well, well.
She looks like Princess Anne
What a pleasant surprise to find out this woman even existed , I , I never heard of her before I thought there was just boys. And yes I think Ann looks like her too..
Both Lady Louise Windsor and her cousin Zara look very similar to the then Princess Royal Mary at similar ages.
Is this the same princess who was portrayed in the second Downton Abbey - the one trying to make her marriage to a dour husbnd work?
Yes,she is
She married a Lascelles, I believe the uncle of " Tommy" Lascelles the late Queen Elizabeth's private secretary portrayed in The Crown as also a grump!
It was but like many tv programmes, it didn’t trouble itself too much about accuracy
@Lana.S.Boyd49 thanks I was wondering where Tommy fitted in
So many chopped heads in this video - why?
I never knew a thing about Princess Mary! Both Princess Anne (& Zara) and the late Queen Elizabeth II resemble her. She sounds an awful lot like Princess Anne in temperament! I like her!
Just stayed at one of her houses Goldsborough hall.
Princess Anne's daughter Zara, is a dead-ringer for her great-great-aunt, Mary, the princess-Royal.
Also, Queen Elizabeth & Princess Anne. Queen Mary’s genes were potent in all three women. There was always something about Mary of Teck’s gaze that passed down to many of her Windsor descendants, none more than the late Queen.
More like Queen Elizabeth in the later picture
Someone seems strangely interested in the elbows and waistlines of the subjects in the photographs!
Absolutely horrible closeups.. why would I want to hone in on the torso of the subject in every single picture? Learn to do this correctly. It’s annoying.
Yes, panning in to her chest

She was a lovely person!🇨🇦
Princess Anne has a very striking resemblance to the late Princess daughter of King George 5 and Queen Mary,
It’s not pronounced Harewood. It’s pronounced…. HARWOOD!
The current Earl of Harewood says it can be pronounced either way
@@pedanticradiator His grandfather would have disagreed
@@ludovica8221 possibly
All the Windsors resemble each other
They're inbred. E2 and Phil were cousins, for example.
Interesting. I've always read that her marriage to Harry was miserable.
PRINCESS MARY ANNE THE QUEEN DAUGHTER IS HER DOUBLE
George acceded to the throne.....He didn't ''ascend'' to the throne!

IN ONE PHOTO I SEE A BIT OF ZARA, SO BEAUTIFUL.
Isn't it pronounced Har-wood?
No is Harewood from Har-Wood
Yes, its pronounced Harrwood
She definitely looks like Princess Anne, and in some portraits, her niece, the late Queen Elizabeth II.
In Downton Abbey Julian Fellowes made out that the Lascelles marriage was very unhappy. Another screenwriter changing history?
TV isn't known for its accuracy.
Good research and thanks for sharing. However, Harewood is pronounced "Harwood".
Such a string resemblance to Princess Anne
Princess Margaret looks like her .
Both Queen Elizabeth II and her sister Princess Margaret resemble their Aunt Princess Mary.
Does anyone know who the two boys are sitting next to Mary?
The future Edward VIII & Prince John ?
As a child she was frequently photographed with Edward (the Duke of Windsor) and Albert {George VI). The adult photographs are her two sons George and Gerald.
On her right is Prince John, who died young, and on her left is Prince George who became the Duke of Kent.
Two of her brothers.

she looks like princess margaret the queens sister and princess anne
This Princess is a great member of the Human Race
I thought. Mary Scot is Maria Bolena..
I think the late Queen looked very much like her aunt Mary.
Her resemblance to the current Princess Royal, Anne, is quite obvious!
Anne's resemblance to Mary is ...
Apparently she did not love her husband and she was it was rumoured to be bullied in to it

I have a copy of "Matriarch", the biography of Queen Mary by Anne Edwards, published in the 1980's. Strongly recommended.
Sorry, but that particular biography is riddled with errors. The Pope-Hennessy bio, while not recent, is far superior.

Born in 1997???
She says 1897
I can see Mary, as an excellent swimmer 🏊♂️ correct body type
