yup, i bought a childrens bedroom vicks vaporizer that had this same method inside of it, it was labelled "boil dry safe" because when the water is gone the electricity stops and it cant get hot anymore, was just 2 steel plates hanging vertically in a round tub with a lid and a tiny hole for the pressure and steam to come out across the little trough that holds the vicks vapor-rub cream, i used to take it apart and clean it every couple months as needed, it does not make explosive gases when hooked to AC 120 volts

duct tape? and a couple strips of thin stainless will work faster . why spoons? just stick the two ends of the wire directly in water and skip the rest!

@Teachermark no, in normal electric water heaters , the current passes trough a element and never contacts the water

Everyone: The video is not titled, "How to make the boiler for your child's 4th grade science project"
If your ask me, it's actually an informative video. The simplicity and confirmation that this concept is doable without having to do it myself first is a nice-to-have, lol.
For a safer test - for anyone trying to read comments to gain knowledge instead of study through a bunch of idiots yapping obvious worthlessness:
Just for the sake.of information - collage means much less in terms of how many it will fuck you up.. The current is what can kill you. From 10 MILLIAMPS can be enough to stop your heart. But artificial respiration/CPR is largely successful in restarting a victim's motor. A normal household circuit is usually 15 or 20 - maybe even 25 A.M.P.S. Take note of these numbers not having a "mili" prefix... 10 milliamps can kill, 1000 milliamps is 1 amp. So. Cerrfull.
However, I've been zapped 4 or 5 times in my life from wiring outlets, or fixing faulty circuits.. *wave* here I am.. So even though - YES - shit is sketchy - it definitely is not a headshot. depends on a VARIETY of factors. Your clothes, direct touch or brushing up against the circuit.... If you're sweating.. if it's excessively humid where you're working, or if your sitting in a filled tub... I'm sure point==made... Thus anything that can affect how much current goes through your body.
So, I think:. To make this project infinitely less dangerous, one needs but to add a bail switch - like on a lawn mower - So the circuit is broken when it's tripped. The simpler the better - If probably use a lever switch - kinda like a toggle switch, but as soon as you toggle it one was, and let go - it automatically flips back to the original state. *Shrug* nice video
If this video indirectly got someone killed, then take solace in knowing that they would have fucking stuck a fork in an outlet at some point anyway, and hopefully it was before they started breeding.
    Nice video

However I have used it only for face wash or shaving, etc. However I find some gadgets like this are available in the markets to make tea / coffee. Is the water heated this way, fit for human consumption or will it have metals dissolved in the liquid and will render toxic for us if consumed.
