In some ways this is a lot like Airwolf: When you hear the cool music start, you know the machine is about to defy physics and kick some butt.
At 1:38---looking at the steering wheel.....I was almost wishing KITT could fly when pulling back on it!!!!

David may have been the star of the show. But to me, it was KITT
That car fell into hard times. He's been doing to much synthetic oil. David went as far as getting drunk and nude with a hamburger just to check on his old friend while he was in rehab.

That "KITT powering on" scene, just, has no words to describe how cool that is.
Those CRTs starting up, the lights, and the text displays...
Watching k.i.t.t come to life was badass...from the scanner lighting up to the computer Illuminating the car to the headlights popping up and the engine starting always gives me goosebumps...truly an incredible scene

The scanner lighting up, dash lighting up, engine starts, kitt goes in gear and floors it, and the slow motion crashing thru the glass!... In my opinion, the most iconic scene of the series!

You can see the stun driver inside sometimes, however its still so watchable. No wonder it captured a generation back in 1982 when first shown.
They do not make hardly any TV shows good like _Knight Rider_ anymore. "One man can make a difference." I love that optimism. And KITT was largely what cars ought to be.

This sequence is the true definition of friendship between Michael and KITT. I mean KITT is literally bursting through brick walls to rescue him. And I agree the start up, the music when KITT broke out of Comtron gives me chills.
Not just yet. This is a pilot episode when Micheal hated the idea of KITT being a sentient being that can make own decisions and talk back.
@@SparrowNoblePoland Very true, and I also enjoyed Devon's more gentlemanly and disapproving demeanor through the first half of the season, but at least KITT was programmed to protect Michael and proved to remain a faithful and loyal ally in spite of their differences. Michael was certainly caught off guard and reevaluating his beliefs after that.

Hey I join you in that opinion. This show gives me the goosebumps and made me a Vehicle fan. Like you said, no match for that Trans Am, when it comes to looks. I still wish the company manufactures a modern version of it without curvy borders, of course.

I really liked the 1982 KITT with the flip-up headlights.
The reason why they changed to the front grill lights was because those flip-up headlights would howl like a Banchee at high speeds.

KITT lighting up is, for me, similar to Airwolf when they start the engines. They don't make series like this anymore. Classic 80's

Even when you know its not really and their is a stun driver doing all the work, it still looks amazing. I remember the first time I saw this in 1982 as an 8 year old. It was such an amazing series and you actually believed that a car could drive and talk.
If I'm not mistaken Isn't Airwolf, MacGyver, A-Team and Knight Rider in the same universe

In my opinion, this is the very moment that the Knight Industries Two Thousand became K.I.T.T.
That car sat and played dead until it could get every piece of information he could about where Michael was. Like, that was a judgment call and went well beyond programming at that point.
Well, I mean, I do think we hear devon say while on the phone with Micheal while the latter is on the phone "we may have to resort to other means temporarily". That line makes me wonder if there was a remote que access terminal that Wilton told Devon about and the latter used that to remote que access k.i.t.t. and sent instructions to him (k.i.t.t) to start at a appointment time and bust Micheal out of jail. Just one thing I'm not sure how to really come up with an explanation for is how k.i.t.t was able to get cordinents to where Micheal was to pin point where he was.
@@morganrussman I just assumed that he got all the information while "captured" at the facility, then as soon as they left, he assumed full control.

@kleetus92 I think for most of the vehicles universal used for kitt, they were just regular cars that they slightly modified for certain purposes that they just plopped a rubber shell over at the time.
Decker can’t catch the A-Team, he sure isn’t going to catch KITT.
Every time I look at this scene, I think of the exact same thing..

That's Charles Napier. Guy's been called the white Morgan Freeman, because like Morgan Freeman, he's played almost any brand of role you can think of. Cop, Criminal, Soldier, Racer, Narrator, Guest Star on The Simpsons. You name it.
He also played a judge in the movie Philadelphia.

I love how they used the same clips every time KITT had to bust Michael out of jail 😂😂
Funny they couldn't even wait for the season to be over to use this in another episode, although much abbreviated and less dramatic.....guess they wanted mileage out of their money shots. But my favorite is repurposing practically the entire climax of this episode in season 3, they dressed Michael and completely different villain actors in the EXACT SAME outfits so they could splice all the footage, they even reworked the story from Michael being shot to Michael being poisoned....lol

I like how Michael is ejected from the car through the roof, but zero mention about his knee caps and steering wheel getting ripped off, and manages a perfect landing. Bravo.

What I think is that Micheal may have situated himself in a way that he wouldn't hit the steering wheel when being ejected.
