Poor K.A.R.R., never realized that K.I.T.T. was more indestructible than he was. It's almost like they planned to have a sequel episode from the beginning, since this fact was mentioned in K.A.R.R.'s first appearance, there would have been no need to mention it otherwise. Also the fact that K.A.R.R. was just learning how to be evil the whole time in his first story, his wasn't really allowed to let loose until this one. I just find it strange that they waited two whole years to bring him back, but that ended up making this story even better, NO ONE would have expected him to return at this point, I'm sure tons of fans were delighted. I saw this on first broadcast(just a little too young to remember his first appearance), and I've ALWAYS considered this the best, and most definitive, Knight Rider episode ever since. I'm pretty sure most other fans would agree, based on the lists I've seen.
I'm guessing the corrosion of the saltwater air and beach sand must have reduced the strength of the molecular bondage shell after being in the beach for so many years. It was strong enough to get through the pillars of the bridge yet not strong enough to break through kitt's shell.
And don't forget, gettin' the laser blast reflected back at him probably compromised K.A.R.R.'s already weakened molecular bonded shell even _further_, considering that Michael suddenly knew that "he's vulnerable head-on".
It's really bad editing. If you really want to nitpick - the angle at which the cars launch at 4:40 looks to be be around 10 feet off the ground but at impact they were easily 40-50 feet high . Haha. That's what's great about being a kid, you took everything with a grain of salt and didn't second guess what was presented to you.
The voice of K.A.R.R. (In his second appearance) was NOT Peter Cullen a.k.a. Megatron, it was legendary voice actor Paul Frees. Frees did a lot of voices in those old Rankin Bass holiday specials. Remember BurgerMeister - MeisterBurger? That was him. He did voices for several Disney films and countless others. If you saw the original War of the Worlds from 1953....he was the radio announcer. Terrific voice.
This is my favorite episode of KR. I’m willing to forgive the numerous blatant continuity errors that were overlooked in order to make this episode happen. I loved the beautiful beach setting and I enjoyed how K.A.R.R. was more manipulative and more menacing than he was before. The amber scanner and the metallic trilling sound K.A.R.R. made really sold me on the idea that he is a villain.
I had forgotten what KARR stood for! :) KITT was Knight Industries Two-Thousand, right? Wow, as in the year 2000?!! We have robots too, maybe even a sort of KITT! Who knew?
@@tuchehstone I'm not saying he was a good person, just that there was enough depth that could be played with to make him understandable. If things had been different Kitt might have had a brother.
Paul Frees nearly slipped back into being the Ghost Host here. "And now, a carriage approaches to take you into the boundless realm of the supernatural.Take your loved ones by the hand, please, and kindly watch your step. Oh yes, and no flash pictures, please. We spirits are frightfully sensitive to bright lights."
Love how KITT & KARR are probably 30 feet away from each other at most.....yet take dramatically-long to reach each other! lolol Love this show, I always will.
I wanted that to happen, otherwise why did the camera pan through the wreckage and show us that he’s still “alive” so to speak. I think had there been a season five, K.A.R.R. Would have been resurrected. The story could go like this: A rogue technician who was formerly employed by the Foundation of Law and Government or the factory that Wilton Knight owned, had stolen schematics of K.A.R.R. as well as his C.P.U. and maybe he’s rich therefore had the means to rebuild him. Of course the C.P.U. wouldn’t contain K.A.R.R.’s memories but since the show has an established penchant for ignoring continuity it wouldn’t have mattered. I wish for the sake of my much younger self that Knight Rider would have been on the air for a few more seasons. I really loved that show.
Im from the uk, used to live watching knight rider repeats on tv as a kid, saturday lunch times before baywatch and airwolf, then when i was living in my local city about 10 years ago, i was walking through an area called bretton, i was walking through the housing estates, and i saw a black pontiac transam firebird, was so awesome, dont know if its still there.

K.I.T.T was an excellent car but deep down I was also rooting for villiams like K.A.R.R and Goliath because no good hero is complete without some sort of counterpart. 🤔 This gives me an idea. GR3Y GH05T well there is another version of the ruiner which is updated just like kitt but it can fly and parachute but it's expensive and the runner is a easy traffic car so yeah create one!

Yeah, while most will associate Peter Cullen as the voice of KARR (not just cuz of his fame as Optimus Prime but also for voicing KARR in 2008 Knight Rider), I've always preferred Paul Frees personally. Has more of a Darth Vader approach to the voice.
Paul Frees could certainly do a sinister voice when he wanted to. It must be useful being able to make people crap their pants just by the sound of your vocal chords.

And don't forget, gettin' the laser blast reflected back at him probably compromised K.A.R.R.'s already weakened molecular bonded shell even _further_, considering that Michael suddenly knew that "he's vulnerable head-on".
@@GBRyker61 yes
At least KARR didn't chicken out this time.
"In the end, there can be only one..."
because the last time KARR did, it didn't work out.
@@clipobserver It's the Battle of the Cylon Centurion Cars. Get it? LOL
i know, but two cars turbo boosting into each other, where one explodes and the other is perfectly fine is SOOOO cliche....
@@captaingenius-o1c don’t be a hatter. It’s 80’s TV 😂😜
What a great walk down memory lane!!! Wish I could go back to the 80s man... What a glorious time!
If you pause at 4:45 you see both cars falling backwards straight down to the ground after they hit each other.
What you saw was K.A.R.R. falling to the ground . Not both of them.
yeah due to some really bad editting it looked like both cars exploded.
Yea you can see the models falling lol.
@@1891Ent No, it's completely black and not two tone, it's KITT.
Paul Frees as K.A.R.R.- Peter Cullen regained the role in later incarnations of Knight Rider!!!
Frees was the better KARR voice.
@@LordTalax And it is all in the pace maker.
That voice of KARR is insane villain
My favorite scene of Knight Rider. I loved the KITT vs KARR battles
They don't make shows like this anymore. When cool was cool. U'd watch a scientifically inaccurate show and loved every minute of it. ❤
I'm 42 and I remember watching this in Puerto Rico as a kid, loved that car.
K.A.R.R.: "Good-bye, Michael Knight...".
Me: "Uh-oh...".
Nah-nah, pal. No way.
I say similar lines to slow drivers before I activate my SECRET weapons...
Peter Cullen voiced Optimus Prime not Megatron.
Megatrons va would have been good too tho lol
4:11 That rev sound was so good
Dave sound but it's knight rider
This was my favorite episode of the whole show. Loved Knight Rider!
4:30 - "If I am destroyed, so shall you be." - K.A.R.R. - In his final words before his destruction.
Even before the battle..KITT IS STILL CONCERN ABOUT MICHAEL'S SAFETY!! NOW THATS KITTS HEART!!
If he was really concerned for his safety, he should have told him to put on his seat belt. 😂😂😂
@@crucial0072why should he? Michael's a grown man he shouldn't have to be told.
OMG....it was Knight Automated Roving Robot....KARR & KITT
Bring back memories
I had forgotten what KARR stood for! :) KITT was Knight Industries Two-Thousand, right? Wow, as in the year 2000?!! We have robots too, maybe even a sort of KITT! Who knew?
lol @ 4:44 when you can see K.I.T.T. flipping upside down and falling out of frame only to be perfectly upright and fine a second later.
haha yea its funny but then again its very old but gold
YES hahaha 0,25 speed
I can see being born in the early 2000s makes me miss this kick ass show
God I still love that car, knight rider was the coolest show in the 80s
The most epic battle of all time! I still see this in my head from time to time.
Michael: You're alright?!
KITT: I can't take another blow like that.
"I can't take another blow like that"
There's a joke there but I'm too tired 😴
@@wesker1079 Whatever. 😒

Today made 40 years from Kitt vs Karr premiere. Congrats
KARR was so deliciously evil!
I don't think evil, so much as very angry. He could have had a cool redemption arc if the writers had wanted.
KARR was just misunderstood. 😜
@@tuchehstone I'm not saying he was a good person, just that there was enough depth that could be played with to make him understandable. If things had been different Kitt might have had a brother.
Like the devil temping Eve and later Adam with the apple.
@@danielmarinucci9342 if I am destroyed, so shall you be!
This show always takes me back to my childhood.
The Haunted Mansion.
Love how KITT & KARR are probably 30 feet away from each other at most.....yet take dramatically-long to reach each other! lolol Love this show, I always will.
Does anyone remember Goliath?? 😄😄. The Truck vs K.I.T.T
The driver was Garth Knight! Also played by David Hassel Hoff but with an evil mustache.
That was just a truck though, no computer personality.
Ahhh the 80s, when the evil twin always had a mustache or a different bumper. Gotta love the classics!!
I love the sound of the turbo boost
Don't forget Super Pursuit Mode!
Same, it just makes me so happy but I also love his scanner's "woo woo" sound
Ikr, sometimes feel tempted to set it as my ringtone.
@@michaelthomas8440 Notice at 3:20 you can actually hear the sound effect that would later be used for Super Pursuit Mode?
@@AndrewChapman that would be amazing!🔥🔥🔥
4:44 i like how kitt gets absolutely obliterated and comes out clean in the next shot
I like how KARR's gray bottom half basically means he has a mustache.
Peak KR right here. Just a brilliant episode from start to finish. Only regret was KARR not escaping and becoming a reoccurring villian in the series.
His core survived.
there always was potential for K.A.R.R to come back his cpu was shown to be intact (albeit very broken) but still together.
I wanted that to happen, otherwise why did the camera pan through the wreckage and show us that he’s still “alive” so to speak. I think had there been a season five, K.A.R.R. Would have been resurrected.
The story could go like this:
A rogue technician who was formerly employed by the Foundation of Law and Government or the factory that Wilton Knight owned, had stolen schematics of K.A.R.R. as well as his C.P.U. and maybe he’s rich therefore had the means to rebuild him.
I always wanted to build KARR rather than a KITT

Im from the uk, used to live watching knight rider repeats on tv as a kid, saturday lunch times before baywatch and airwolf, then when i was living in my local city about 10 years ago, i was walking through an area called bretton, i was walking through the housing estates, and i saw a black pontiac transam firebird, was so awesome, dont know if its still there.
R.I.P. KARR! You were a good car!
K.A.R.R is the best villain of this series.
I was a Kid when I see this tv show, and I still love it!!!
when i was young i wached every video of knight rider and i still like it

Just spent today watching through both KARR episodes and both Garthe/Goliath episodes and then played both Knight Rider PS2 games where Garthe and KARR team up against Michael and KITT. Totally awesome!

This is uncanny! Were you there?
That was beautiful Knight Rider 😊
KITT vs KARR the ultimate showdown of Knight Rider! Aw the good ol days. Miss that show. Have season 1 on DVD though. But sometimes things are more fun on TV ;p
I like how they're on soft dirt but the tires still squeal 😂
I like that when they're dueling, the two parts of the bridge that collapsed just magically disappeared.

Wow...the memories. This was an 'edge of the seat' episode when I was a kid.
Most memorable episode... EVER!!!
Beautiful memory of my childhood,I was eagerly waiting for this program every week, when I was missed i cried.
"If I am destroyed, so shall you be" is right up there with "One shall stand, one shall fall."
same voice actor too
No chipped paint,no scratches & dodges laser…..gotta love it.
2:27 "tell me.. do you feel in charge?.."
I will never forget when I was little I used to watch Knight Rider all the time 😅😅😅
I absolutely LOVED this TV series when I was a kid. K.I.T.T was an excellent car but deep down I was also rooting for villiams like K.A.R.R and Goliath because no good hero is complete without some sort of counterpart. 🤔 This gives me an idea. I wonder if it would be possible to customize the Ruiner 2000 on GTA to look like K.A.R.R. If it is I'm gonna do it. 😁
GR3Y GH05T well there is another version of the ruiner which is updated just like kitt but it can fly and parachute but it's expensive and the runner is a easy traffic car so yeah create one!
@@provestic I looked into it the other day and there's one issue with making KARR on GTA. As far as I know there's no way to change the front light bar to yellow. All I can do is put a KARR license plate on the ruiner. It would work since Karr started out looking like KITT but it's not the same.
GR3Y GH05T well if ur rich you can buy the version with all the flying abilites
@@provestic True but there's no point in spending the cash to buy that car when I can't have it exactly the way I want it so I'll spend it on something else for the time being. Dunno what but I'll figure it out.
GR3Y GH05T maybe try mods but that's too risky if I'm honest just nick a runner from the traffic and paint it glossy black upgrade it on everything and bOoM
Funny fact : I had a 1984 trans am . And I can tell you , it was probably one of the slowest and sluggish sports car I ever owned . 0 to 60 in about 5 minutes.
KITT: If I say "yes", will you promise we'll never had to do that again?
Never say never partner. Never say never.
Paul Frees voice was absolutely perfect for K.A.R.R. Even though Peter Cullen voice was good too but his voice too recognizable and famous for being Optimus Prime. Paul Frees's gives K.A.R.R. that powerful menacing, cold voice of evil.
Yeah, while most will associate Peter Cullen as the voice of KARR (not just cuz of his fame as Optimus Prime but also for voicing KARR in 2008 Knight Rider), I've always preferred Paul Frees personally. Has more of a Darth Vader approach to the voice.
@@AndrewChapman Agreed!
Paul Frees could certainly do a sinister voice when he wanted to. It must be useful being able to make people crap their pants just by the sound of your vocal chords.
it was peter cullen who voiced KARR
@@garymiddleton658 , for the Trust Does Not Rust episode, Cullen did voice K.A.R.R., but for K.I.T.T. vs K.A.R.R. Paul Frees did the voice.
