      yeah it did...had more of a reverb sound affect...and also his personality was more on a human level as where in his first appearance he was more like a drone, where he pretty much said the same lines over and over and didnt do much negotiating with anyone...like he did here with John...and his voice was better too in this one, I know the legendary Peter Cullen voiced the first KARR, but the second voice actor did a wonderful job, it was deeper and more sinister...I think it was a better fit

      They used the old "hero" car from the first two seasons for any inserts of KARR in this episode, as they'd made another car up into the "new" hero car with the redesigned dash. It was the first episode shot for the third season, so the new car wasn't quite ready yet for full filming. If you watch around 8:24 when KITT pulls away, it's still the old hero car, which was pulling double duty for this episode and the next one shot (The Ice Bandits).

      KARR didn't explode into little bits in episode 1. Yes there was an explosion but that was likely caused by his alpha circuit, which KARR said needed replacement in episode 2. I'm thinking the alpha circuits were the jet packs underneath KITT and KARR that allowed them to turbo boost and propelled them into pursuit mode. KITT and KARR had at least 2 of these, if not more, underneath the car. Yes I'm aware that KARR was still able to drive at high speed and turbo boost in episode 2, but like I said, he had several of these alpha circuits. As for the debris, that could've been anything floating on the beach side, like pieces of scraps, woods and stuff.
      The change in his scanner and voice module color from red to yellow was probably due to the impact as well. The impact also changed his voice too. If you're asking me, I thought it was a much needed improvement so I don't mind the plot-holes here. I couldn't stand Peter Cullen's voice. I'm sorry but Optimus Prime doesn't sound evil enough. He sounds like a ticked off, impatient dad who left a message on someone's answer machine. Paul Frees was the man! His manipulative voice was perfect for KARR.

    • @ThomasFerrugia
      @ThomasFerrugia 4 года назад +2

      Don Johnson : (1) KITT and Michael even state, specifically, in this episode that they ‘saw KARR explode’ and (2) you actually imagine that an impact would magically change the color of light bulbs in the car’s scanner??? Lol
      Dude - I can tell that you’re very committed to Knight Rider (obviously way too much) and your deeply bothered by the fact that it is just a TV show, but you sound utterly insane. The reason that KARR magically reassembled itself was because KARR was not originally intended to return to the series. However, he was a fan favorite and producers later decided to bring him back. The scanner was changed so that TV viewers could more easily distinguish KITT from KARR on screen.
      The alpha circuit wasn’t magic and can’t explain away poor writing. I hate to be the one to have to say this, but you need a life

    • @donjohnson8120
      @donjohnson8120 4 года назад +3

      dude, get a grip of yourself. I'm aware KARR was supposedly be destroyed in his first episode. But the ending left enough wiggle-room to allow for a sequel. KARR was not your typical Pontiac Trans Am from Detroit. He was the same as KITT, built to withstand punishment. KITT was capable of going through metal frames, concrete walls, and tons of rock boulders, unscathed. The explosion was caused by something underneath the car, most likely one of his several turbo boost / jet packs. As for the color change in his scanner, my only conclusion is the impact might have alter his configuration. Perhaps his lights were capable of changing color, the same way he and KITT can tint their windows to completely dark. As for Michael and KITT seeing KARR "exploded", again, they saw an explosion from a distance but we didn't see his parts as we all did in the sequel. During the explosion, there were pieces of things flying up but that could easily be debris floating in the water or on the beach. When he fell off the cliff, he landed into water and/or beach side sand. These are soft substances. Before you criticize the writers or myself, I think you need to think harder before commenting.

      KARR's alpha circuit caused the explosion. I don't know what the alpha circuits were so don't ask, but it was mentioned in the sequel. Also, we didn't see him explode into little bits in episode 1, just a fireball with debris flying up, which could've been anything on the beach. The foundation might have investigated afterward but couldn't find his remains so they likely assumed he was swept out into the oceans, but instead, he was swept to a distant part of the beach.

      @@KThrilla Of course it's a reach! But what I said was not impossible. I actually discussed this scenario with another person somewhere in the other comments. We tried to figure it out 😀. The conclusion was that the damaged alpha circuits / alpha capacitors connects to either one of his many jet packs (you know the rockets / afterburners that allow him to turbo boost and go into pursuit mode), or his one of his other combustible tanks, you know the oil slick, and smoke screen, etc. That's why KARR did not appear damage because the explosion came from underneath the car. Now before you say shouldn't the bottom of his car have a big hole in it? Not really. Remember KARR had the same molecular bondage shield that KITT had, so the frame can still be intact but wherever the release or hole was for the booster, oil slick, smoke screen, etc. is, that where's the explosion came out from. Also, beaches are typically littered with debris and any impact will make it fly out.

    This is my favourite episode of Knight Rider. No offence to Peter Cullen, but Paul Frees was the real voice of KARR for me.
    I always found it great that they revamped KARR's personality. In the first episode he was naive, temperamental, and almost child-like. In the second they made him conniving, manipulative, and overall much more of a threat. He knew about popular cultural icons such as Aladdin, and how to use them to woo people into hos own plans. The sadistic streak was icing on the cake.
    It's a crime that he was only in two episodes, becasue he could have been a great recurring villain. A threat in the background who popped up now and again in a larger story arc.
