Yes, today it would just be CGI. It would still look great but you would know it’s not real, it would remove a lot of the impact.
The problem with movie cars, aircraft, etc is that they are built for the looks, not for actual handling, reliability or performance.

everything these days, for the most part, is nothing more than rebooted or regurgitated cash grabs with little to no thought put into them....it's disgusting, so no it's not that we're just getting older, it is in fact the world is becoming a crappier place.
Also back in the days when stunts in movies were actually credible. OK in this case the Wraith is a supernatural vehicle so it gets a pass on the laws of physics, but back then, if a car crashed and exploded, it was for real, not CGI
REMEMBER WHEN USA HAD FRIDAY FRIGHT NIGHT AND IT WAS “ UP ALL NIGHT “ 🤔
Мне он так нравился!!!
My favorite part is the end. The Wraith just crashes through the Police cars, pulls forward and stops, like a BIG "C'mon and get me!" love this scene.
when he stops it's like
"you want this....don't you"
and when he explodes into light it's like the emperor laughing lolz
Reminds me of the ending of Vanishing Point.
I always thought he was checking to make sure the cops were okay, not that he was taunting them. He's not angry with them, just the gang.
@Сибирь 42 everything bakes with enough fire....oh shit oh shit my biscuits are burnin!!!
Or maybe making sure that the cops were okay. He had nothing against the cops. He was just seeking revenge against the gang.
45 year old here. That part at 3:28 when the car goes around the bend through the dust, together with the portion of music, has always stayed with me through the years.
This was my favorite movie growing up in the eighties. I love the fact a movie could just be about entertainment back then. No hidden agendas or political crap.
What about RAD?
The whole point of the movie is a hidden agenda...
Bro. You only associate political crap with the new stuff since your mental formation was complete before it arrived.
The 80's was the same as the 90's and 00's and 10' and 20's. Everyone thinks things only started becoming manipulative at the time they hardened their world view.
@@BigChungus-zg6zw That's a good point. I also think everything is packed full of political fodder and subtle political inuendo, but never really considered that it's probably always been that way and that only now does it seem so prevalent.

I watched it in the silver screens and too kept it on my mind. It's the kind of film that you don't give much credit before you see it. The car design still impress even 30 years later, specially the front end.
It's an excellent design. I love how clean and minimal it is. It's sleek, but not balloony. And I appreciate that it's not all boxy angles like the DeLorean, and similar early 80s sports cars. It actually kinda reminds me of Tesla designs (discounting the cybertruck). You would expect in a cheap B film like this that the car would be all tacked on fins and fairings, but it's clear they really knew car design.
I actually love the back end too. It's a perfect counterpoint to the rounded front.
My god... when the music cuts in, just perfection, just wonderful. Awesome song. Don't get movies (or music) like this anymore.
