You said it about as well as it could be said. I was 10 years old in 1985. I feel so incredibly blessed to have grown up in the 80s. Likewise, I long for the past.
Almost 40 years later and still has better race sequences than Fast and the Furious
To think it was a movie shot in 6 weeks ! One of my favorite movies....

True
This car's design NEVER gets old.
Like the DeLorean! They both look amazing!
pretty crazy for a 80's 200 mph concept car that only had a 4 cylinder. and a chrysler too, making you wonder how fast they could've made the neon.
@@TheInsaneupsdriver if you believe that thing ever went anywhere near 200mph then you are pretty crazy

When the Wraith raised his car hood, the engine was wobbling back and forth. It REALLY WAS a Chrysler product!
😅😅😅
Underrated comment 👍😂
And when the Trans Am was hauling ass the butterflies weren't even open on the blower
Yup. Just another 2.2 with a broken motor mount.
@@billthompson5644 I didn't even see a belt on the blower.
I miss movies like this, wish they would bring them back, NOTHING will compare to the good old 80s
The remakes they make now are complete trash. No original ideas. This current gen is no competition to the 80's.
The scene looked familiar to me they did indeed drive in Tucson, AZ. Part of the drive seems to have been up Mt. Lemon for the scenes with a mix of driving on the outskirts of the city.
I agree with you. Greetings from Spain 🧡
@@TheONE-kr9qx You are all right. Greetings from Spain 🧡
🤗🙋♂️👍👏👏👏🤝💝
Just the scene with Rughead looking down into what appears to be a hellish/unearthly engine is priceless. And then him backing away slowly.
With no engine mounts apparently
Yup and gots to love the name of the car model the interceptor and it even comes with gigantic instruction manual
@chrismacolley It was a bad idea for Jake to give that car to the guy working at the drive in restaurant at the end of this film. I mean, weren't the cops looking for that vehicle? He certainly couldn't drive it around town and expect to not get pulled over.
@@TheTallMan50 First of all the guy working in the restaurant was Jake's/Jamie's brother Billy, so a present from a resurrected brother isn't a bad thing. And the car Billy received wasn't the same anymore. I mean it was definitely the model of the car, even the specific piece, that did the races, but once Jake revealed himself to Kerry towards the end, the car lost its magic, it was just a random car prototype, no longer a murder weapon. The cops (Sheriff Loomis) realised, that once Packard's gang was eliminated (only Rughead was left and he had nothing to do with Jamie's murder), there won't be any murder anymore. Loomis even said it to Packard himself in the movie, that if he had any saying in the matter, he would leave Packard to his fate, because the mysterious driver was only after Packard's gang and no one else. And Loomis didn't like Packard for obvious reasons. He only wanted protect them because of the law, because that's the sheriff's duty. Also Loomis saw that car disappear before his very eyes, he was pretty much aware, that whatever was eliminating Packard's gang wasn't from this world.
So again, Billy received a wonderful gift from his resurrected brother, not a murder weapon, that eliminated a bad gang.
@@TheTallMan50Good point! Hadn't thought about that.
The 80s were magic , if only we could go back 😂
Yea, no fuckin shit, I couldn't agree with you more!

Shouldn't the Sherriff had said something to the effect of:
"It isn't possible that that car tore the front off two patrol cars and suffered no damage."
Oh. The movie would then be over.

If Hollywood had any sense, they would remake this movie with no agenda and a good budget.
Today the movies are to woke this will never work.
The only way this would work is if George Miller directed it
Long before Fast and the Furious.
In fact, this was the inspiration for it.

i must say they nailed the overall look of the modern supercar 30 years early.
If I remember correctly, it was a Dodge Concept car that was actually built and lent for the movie.

This was my favorite movie growing up in the eighties. I love the fact a movie could just be about entertainment back then. No hidden agendas or political crap.
What about RAD?
The whole point of the movie is a hidden agenda...
Bro. You only associate political crap with the new stuff since your mental formation was complete before it arrived.

That Chrysler Dodge Turbo Interceptor was the best actor in the movie.
I heard Charlie Sheen put a banana in the tailpipe.
I love the car in general but the sound was and is unforgettable
I remember watching this movie as a kid and thinking it was the coolest thing I’ve ever seen!
You're lucky. I've just been able to watch only the teasers in my childhood, and finally watched this movies some months ago. Only then recognized Charlie Sheen... Great!

Watching this made me remember how awe inspiring and enjoyable movies were to me as a kid. That late night unexpected movie that just draws you in really made my childhood. You never knew what might happened next.
And how hot Sherlyn Fenn was...
everything these days, for the most part, is nothing more than rebooted or regurgitated cash grabs with little to no thought put into them....it's disgusting, so no it's not that we're just getting older, it is in fact the world is becoming a crappier place.
Also back in the days when stunts in movies were actually credible. OK in this case the Wraith is a supernatural vehicle so it gets a pass on the laws of physics, but back then, if a car crashed and exploded, it was for real, not CGI
REMEMBER WHEN USA HAD FRIDAY FRIGHT NIGHT AND IT WAS “ UP ALL NIGHT “ 🤔
Мне он так нравился!!!
rollcall...who's missing the 80s
The Wraith looks like what KITT should have been if he wasn't a Trans Am. It's sleek and fast and looks like a car of the future :D
It's the dodge M4S Turbo interceptor
Honestly I'm obsessed with the car design it's amazing cool and it's a great protagonist
You have good taste in cars. This car is absolutely beautiful. Wish I had one but in south africa the only car I can drive is a Nissan langley. The rest is too expensive.
"never surrender" was originally made for the transformers movie of 1986. there was so much good music in it already, they couldn't fit it in.
is it Lion? Sounds the same
@@SmokeyGamingUK yup, done by Lion.
4sure. Great ⏲️s and friends back then.
The Wraith has an amazing soundtrack. Every song is great!
This movie is still just as great as when I first saw it. Just awesome!
I watched it in the silver screens and too kept it on my mind. It's the kind of film that you don't give much credit before you see it. The car design still impress even 30 years later, specially the front end.
Sheriff: "We have him trapped...too"
Supercar: "That's what he thinks"
My favorite part is the end. The Wraith just crashes through the Police cars, pulls forward and stops, like a BIG "C'mon and get me!" love this scene.
when he stops it's like
"you want this....don't you"
and when he explodes into light it's like the emperor laughing lolz
Reminds me of the ending of Vanishing Point.
I always thought he was checking to make sure the cops were okay, not that he was taunting them. He's not angry with them, just the gang.
@Сибирь 42 everything bakes with enough fire....oh shit oh shit my biscuits are burnin!!!
Or maybe making sure that the cops were okay. He had nothing against the cops. He was just seeking revenge against the gang.
Highly underrated movie. And a young and gorgeous Sherilyn Fenn!
She and porn actress Jenna Doll nearly look like twin sisters.
It's hard to believe this is an 80's movie. The car design is far ahead of its time
to think the NSX copied the rear-end of this car!
I loved this movie as a kid. The new electric Dodge Charger brought me here, thought it looked similar to this car.

How about stop remaking 80s movies. And create something new...what a concept.
I agree a remake would be nice but they would have to change the car. Maybe have the interceptor at first but get destroyed and a new car replacing it like, say, the Venom F5 from Hennessey Motors.
I think it's hysterical they were planning to catch anything with a Chrysler.😂
Just imagine KITT or KARR fighting against this car
My god... when the music cuts in, just perfection, just wonderful. Awesome song. Don't get movies (or music) like this anymore.

This song is from Lion. Never surrender. Most of the soundtrack can you get on you tube or re- releases on disc. 👍🏽
I have absolutely nothing but love for this movie.
Me too
Installed these on a riding mower ruclips.net/user/postUgkxetgfkJxfdT_B2vGYP-uNTLaBbim9OKTD . They were sharp out of the box, although I've never liked blade edges that were coated...not quite as sharp as I personally want. Using my belt sander, I removed the coating from the cutting edges and refined the edge enough to shave with them. So far, after three runs, these blades are holding up as expected. Even after hitting a few fallen 1/2 inch or so branches, the edges are still sharp as heck. No edge dings, no warping, etc. As far as installing them, the cutouts were of the proper size and shape to fit my aging Craftsman mower. Very satisfied.
I still crank up 'Never Surrender' by Lion when I want to do a little aggressive driving. Amazing how things you saw as a kid can stick with you for so long. 😂😂
The yellow Firebird.......there's NO BELT on the blower! 🤣
Priceless...

everyone in hollywood at the time of this movies release said this was one of charlies sheens worst acting roles, due to platoon being the meant role for charlie's movie success. but what people dont understand is that this movie was NEVER about the actors in its it was about the CAR. as this car still hold high in SCI-FI forums and cult classic community groups. this car was meant to mold the automobiles long passion for driving in style! And dodge NAILED IT with THE WRAITH!!!! BEST 80's CAR MOVIE!!!!

This is such a glorious sequence, I gotta watch the whole thing now.
Damn I miss the 80's we had the best music, movies, TV shows, saturday morning cartoons! I feel bad for the garbage and agendas the youth are brainwashed with today! Wraith was badass!!!!
A highly underrated movie.
They call it a horror but not really that. More like thriller and sci fi.
An absolute classic. It hasn't aged. I have it in my DVD collection. What is also great about this film is that the car is actually real, so someone somewhere designed and built it and someone had the pleasure of driving this absolute beauty.
The 80’s were the best. I feel sorry the these youngins that couldn’t experience the gritty dark dirty 80’s. Cocaine, malls, and hairspray
Imagine this dodge M4S is just a 2.2liter mid-engine 4 cilinder car with a topspeed of 313 km/u. That's some performance for a '80 car.
200mph is also possible considered how light the car was
"Never Surrender" by Lion. Hell yeah!

It's hard to decide what makes my heart happier, the soundtrack or the moving vehicles.
I like how he stops after running through the road block. Almost telling Loomis "Yeah, you're powerless to stop me"
ROCK ON!!!!🤟
Needs a second to regenerate...
Or perhaps stopping just to check to make sure all of them were okay. Because he had nothing against the cops. He was just seeking revenge against the gang. Because of what they did to him.
If you listen to the first few revs when he stops for the roadblock, the revs sound like the car is saying "Move. Move", weird, I know.

Even though I've seen this thing half a dozen times, I always expect Rughead to say "Plug it in WHERE?" or something. Granted, the engine looks alien enough on its own, but that would've really helped drive home the fact that it's not just a regular suped-up engine. Granted, the hellish glow & lightning goes a long way.
