Legit camera work, no CGI effects, precision driving, actual stunts, great sound track and fine acting. This movie was highly underrated! Could watch it over and over! ❤
The “wraith” car was a car industry technology demonstrator. It was supposed to demonstrate that a four cylinder turbo charged engine could deliver the same performance as a v-eight with twice the displacement. It broke 200 mph in testing.
I remember going to the theater to watch this with my then girlfriend. I wanted the car, she wanted Charlie. As of today, I don't think either of us got what we wanted.
It was the movie starring the sons/brothers of those other better known actors. (We forget back then Evelin Esteves was better known than his brother.) And they all did a great job.
@A E it’s 100% a designer car. It also has curbside appeal so immense that it transcends every car trend- to this day, it is one of the most sexy and amazing-looking vehicles ever built.
@@theholymackerel072 I wonder if the design is copyrighted? There is a company in Missouri that has a license to make Batmobiles from the campy TV series.
There's a group of people that got their hands on the original molds. As far as I understand they've made some body's and finished a couple cars but don't quote me it's been awhile since I've seen that information.
Head-on collision, both cars doing 100+, gigantic explosion, parts strewn everywhere, Vette is a burned-out shell of a car. Driver completely intact with no apparent injuries except his clothes came off and now he's dead. Gotta love 80s movies.
She was definitely a head turner back in the day. Whoever "Big Kay" is I suspect she chose the work uniform specifically for her. It was Hooters before Hooters.
80s cult movie.. drive in theaters are why these existed. Low budget movies made for teenagers and the drive in. Seen so many back in the day..Class of 84, Phantasm, Trick or Treat to name a few. Never was meant to be a big screen big award flic. Glad I have the DVD myself.
Think I was about 12 when this came out on HBO. Although I knew it was a bit cheesy, it didn't stop me from watching it over and over. Funny looking at the wraith car now and remembering how bad ass I used to think it was.
Drive in movies were never really meant to be watched but more as background noise, it was something they could charge for entry to the Backseat theater errr Drive in movie.
If his brother, Ron Howard, was involved with a film Clint always got a part in it, usually some small part but if you look he’s almost always somewhere in the film.

The car is a Dodge M4S / Turbo Interceptor : 2.2-liter Cosworth inline-four with dual Garrett turbochargers producing about 400HP or 190+ MPH depending on how one measures pucker power and only four were ever made. BUT one of the cars from the movie disappeared when production wrapped and has never been seen since... something for those with a guilty secret to think about.
I used to love this movie in the 80’s. Watching this clip just occurred to me that the Crow has similarities. Boyfriend gets murdered and comes back as something else or superhuman
It's hundreds of these types of ( come back and revenge ) movies some are good some are boring. I just like revenge movies like "Death wish" , and most of Clint Eastwood movies, modern day, "LAW abided Citizens" " V for Vandetta ". The list goes on.

They don't make movies like this anymore live action stunts real explosions and car crashes but also tied it in with a interesting story and a cool soundtrack.
Almost 40 years later and the turbo is still one of the coolest concept cars ever created. If they mass marketed it today, it would do well. Yo, Elon. Heads up!
That’s a damn nice jacket Packard had. In the 80s EVERYTHING WAS TURBO! In the 2000s the Turbo Interceptor would be pulled over constantly for illegal tint. Cops get really jealous when your tint is as dark as theirs !
Filmed here in and around Tucson. The swimming hole scenes are Sabino Canyon. My buddy was an EMT back in high school, he knew the guys in the ambulance. The one dared the other to hit the siren as they were pulling away, wasn’t part of the script. That was up on Mt Lemmon highway.

Not bad for a 37 year old movie. I was a teenager when it came out.
This is probably where they got the idea for fast and furious movies. 😎🛩
Relax, the driving was nothing special, and very slow,.

The cars, the explosions, the music, and the girls. The 80s were a great time to be alive.

I've seen this hundreds of times. The 80s was a great time being a teenager. Still a great looking car
And a kid
Stance is way to narrow, and I was a huge fan when the movie released.
One of my favorite movies as a kid. I've watched it countless times and it never gets old. A true 80s classic.
Charlie Sheen, Nick Cassavetes, Sherilyn Fenn, and Randy Quaid. Man, what a cast.
And Clint Howard.
Randy Quaid, one of the most under rated, and greatest actors there ever was !
Loved him in Born in East L.A
