Neanderthal Genes and COVID-19

The COVID-19 pandemic, caused by the virus SARS-CoV-2, has touched almost all corners of the globe and has till date caused well over a million people to die. But all aren't affected to the same extent of the decease, some people have no or mild symptoms whereas others have severe symptoms. Genetic risk factors have a role in disease progression. The paper “The major genetic risk factor for severe COVID-19 is inherited from Neanderthals” in Nature. This paper looks in to a archaic human origin of genetic risk factor for Covid.
