So fun to watch your quilting. I will look for the pictures of the finished work! P.S. When I was in college in Corvallis, OR, my friends and I went to the first or second quilt show in Sisters! It was a tiny show back then. I haven't been back since, but not because I didn't want to. It just hasn't worked out. I hope you enjoyed it!
I love your channel. I have learned so much. Now I put my backing on and don’t center it! It’s su much faster. You can easily eyeball the top pretty accurately.
I find using a side light & turning off the machine lights , is so much easier on my eyes for this kind of work. It gives the right kind of shadows to show the texture of the quilting. I just move the light along slightly as I travel.
I told my longarmer about sprinting the back to get wrinkles out so she tried it. Unfortunately the blue fabric on the front bled through the stitching to the back!! Fortunately I think she was able to fix that.
Thanks for the video Susan. I look forward to seeing you do this again in a solid. Maybe you can show the finished product from this video in the next video becaue I would love to see it. I dont have social media. I hope you got that noise figured out and that it was an easy fix!
Hi you do really beautiful work. Do you ever do any QMatic work? I think custom quilting is beautiful but I don’t have a talent for or desire to do it.
I do...although that is a recent skill for me. My favorite quilting is freehand, and edge-to-edge - the same design quilted over the entire quilt top. I love that there are multiple ways to quilt, and a quilter can choose the way they love best to do it.
I have a HQ Infinity. Haven’t used the longarm in a while but I recall being told that longarms aren’t meant to be stitching going from right to left, in other words they are supposed to go from left to right. Of course for small distances it doesn’t matter but for the entire width of the quilt, it is best to go from left to right. Anyone else ever hear that?
It’s certainly true that a fair number of longarm quilters say they have trouble going right to left, but it’s not “normal”. I’ve had several machines which handle every direction just fine, so I’ll continue troubleshooting until I can achieve that👍🏻
Hi Susan, not sure that you will see this question. I have a question about the cute split apple pattern you held up to show as an example. Can you please share the pattern name so I can look it up? Thank you.
Sure! That particular one doesn't seem to be available any more, but I found another option from the same quilter who designed it, with the same handle and feel, plus he carries other sizes in his online shop as well. We teamed up to offer you several options and *use the coupon code SBS10* for 10% off any one of the collection. Here's the link: *quiltersapothecary.com/collections/sbs* And one more thing - people have been flocking to Jamie's shop, so several sizes are currently sold out, but he's getting more as fast as he can! You can shop for anything in his store but the coupon only works on items from that collection.
hope all turns out well. If you have a moment, can you please provide the number color for the Isacord thread you are using, it's a beautiful soft color. Thanks.
Susan, I love your videos and podcasts! I was wondering if you have ever quilted an "Ocean Wave" quilt before? I inherited my Dad's shirts. I was thinking of putting them in an "Ocean Wave" quilt, but not sure how I would quilt it. Do you have any recommendations? Thanks
“Waves” might be a good design. Suits a masculine quilt and plays on the name. I’ve done them in a couple of RUclips episodes, and you can play around with spacing and depth to change up the look.
Such a great idea!

I sure did!

Yes, it's a great time saver!
Great idea to practice and then have a baby quilt ready when needed. Will definitely do that.

I completely agree with the side light. It's my go-to also, for the most difficult to see quilts. It just doesn't work at all on camera 😄
I managed to brake my wrist so all my quilting is vicariously for a while! Love your channel!
Hugs!
Oh, that’s sad! Hope it’s better soon👍🏻

Oh no! That is a risk with deeply dyed fabrics…I’m sure glad she was able to fix it👍🏻

I did, and it was a super easy fix - just needed a little lube on the needle bar and a tech walked me through it. Success!

Kelli, that was my own playing so no pattern exists, sorry!
@@StitchedBySusan Such a fun quilt.
Impressive! 😍
Do you use different places to have even wear on your leaders ?
I don’t, and I’ve never yet worn out a leader. I do use the Red Snappers to load, and binding use a lot of tension, so maybe that’s the key.
you were using a 9 inch yellow quilting ruler on a previous show and I can't seem to find it. Could you help me please?

Sure! It's 1840 in the 40 weight thread.
QQ is there such a thing as over oiling it
I think yes. Only so much is useful, the rest will drip off and make a mess. In my BERNINA's case, one drop frequently is perfect.

Hard to see the stitches
I can’t see the beautiful stitching this time…
I know, I’m sorry! I’m going to do this project again, with a solid color next time.
