Wonderful choice of color of thread. I' m now a believer of testing all kinds and pooling it and testing different spots. I watched the entire video of you making this quilt and loved it. Thank you and Dave.
Love your channel. I have a Q20 sit down that I want to put on a frame in a few years when I have a new sewing room. Lots a things are different on a frame. Your videos help take the mystery out of a frame
What perfect timing! I’m getting ready to do a minkey-backed quilt on my longarm for the first time and am planning on straight line quilting! Thank you for the great demo and information!
Thank you sooo much for this video. I have a Statler Stitcher and I think this would be a perfect opportunity to use a combination of "record pattern" while using the channel lock feature -- thus creating a digital pattern for straight line stitching that is customized for each quilt. Love all the tips about using your hands to keep pressure to avoid puckers/creases/pleats. I am new to your channel and love watching fellow long-armers! We all face the same challenges. I have been wanting to try the red snappers -- I still pin.
Your quilt is absolutely gorgeous! I'll be curious to know if it goes on the wall or the couch. Thanks for sharing the making of the quilt from start to (almost) finish! 💜
I am waiting for my fabric. Her kit sold out to fast. I have done her class and have about six of her patterns. Love her work and she is such a nice lady. ❤❤❤
I quilt on a Handiquilter Amara sitdown. I forgot to take my ruler foot off one time and finally noticed a year or so later. It works great as a regular foot and I always have the option of grabbing a ruler for any reason, like basting the edge in places or moving from one area to another via a stich in the ditch using a ruler.
Susan, when this quilt is completely finished, please give us “up close” views of the front and especially the backing with your thread choice. These points (thread choice, quilting pattern) are where I need educated so I can’t wait to see your results!
I have the Handi Quilter’s clamps; but in my experience they fall off. They don’t grip well enough and don’t hold a straight line, which was very frustrating to me. Someone suggested that large binder clips, from a stationary dept. do a better job, but I have not tried that yet. I just found some at the Dollar Tree, so if they don’t work for that, I’m only out $1.25. Hope this helps somebody. Also, thanks for explaining why there was bagginess at the ends on your excess batting, and what to do about it. I just had that happen on a quilt, but with cotton backing, and I thought it had somehow got stretched out. (Sometimes I forget to remove the clamps when advancing 😬 so figured it was something I did! Maybe both. 🙄) Likewise, the slight puckering between straight rows of quilting. Although I was quilting rainbow 🌈 shaped rows w a ruler 📏, that’s what happened, as I was going back and forth. I thought it was inevitable. However, I’m wondering how to use your trick with a ruler base on and also while holding the ruler? 🤣 Also, I put the binding on, on the frame, and your trick with putting masking tape on the ruler, in order to guide it along the binding, was just the trick I needed and was looking for! It worked well. So thank you! ☺️ 🩷
I just did a Cuddle quilt and when I tested the tension on the side, you can feel poor tension but not see it. So with Cuddle , Minkee etc go by the feel…spiky or sharp feel it’s too tight….should feel the same top and bottom.
I love to long arm Minky. But throw it on air for 5 to 10 min. And put the stretch long ways. Do not put the stretch on the roller rails it will be great. Buy a small piece for a baby quilt and practice before you do a big piece.
@StitchedBySusan I have a Bernina Q24 as well. My machine didn't come with the channel lock system. What would you recommend to help me do straight line quilting?

Krista is such a talent and she is adorable too
If you bend the red snappers as you put them on it’s much easier. It opens the channel up.

I put my cuddle in the dryer for 10 min. Works wonderfully with fluff control! Such a beautiful quilt.😊
Love how your cup coordinates with the quilt behind you!
I love this quilt!❤
I’ve purchased the pattern and hope to have it done by next Christmas! It’s such a lovely quilt.
Hello from Rosalia. Loved watching you piece & quilt Crimson Christmas this week. Fabulous reveal this afternoon. Thank you 😊
Thank you for talking through what you are doing. I am interested in learning how to do this.
What perfect timing! I’m getting ready to do a minkey-backed quilt on my longarm for the first time and am planning on straight line quilting! Thank you for the great demo and information!
Krista is Zooming in for our next Guild meeting in 10 days. The timing of this show was perfect! Thank you! ❤
Oh, how fun! She is the BEST person - you'll enjoy her thoroughly!
How do you find this zoom

Just had to buy this pattern straight away when I saw it
I save the extra batting for a friend who crochets amazing animals and story book characters. She uses it to stuff them. 😀
Stay !!!
Love this pattern!

This is a beautiful quilt. I am curious why you didn’t use the computerized design with straight line quilting
Because I feel I can achieve better control with seam lines when I’m in charge. And also…..the computer is not my natural habitat😁
I am waiting for my fabric. Her kit sold out to fast. I have done her class and have about six of her patterns. Love her work and she is such a nice lady. ❤❤❤
I take pictures with my phone camera of the underside when starting out to make sure the stitching is good.

I agree. It’s a great multi purpose foot.
I love the quilt hanging behind you. Is there a name and/or pattern available?
I would love this too. Can’t find your email to request it as you mentioned in the video.

QQ What are your thoughts on combining both stitch n ditch & straight-line quilting or recommend quilting one or the other technique?

I put the cuddle in the dryer on air for five minutes. Takes all the fuzzies off.
Where did you buy your magnets?
The local hardware store. They’re just tool/shop magnets.

I have never used Isacord but would like to try. I usually use Glide. Is there much difference
They’re very similar. I use 40wt.
Thank w

Your link to the Schmetz needles leads to a 3-n-1 laurastar lift steam vacuum. LOL Of all the little things.....
How in the world are you staying so straight?
Using a machine feature😁 Mine has driving belts I can engage, so I can use just the horizontal one to get lovely straight lines.
@StitchedBySusan I have a Bernina Q24 as well. My machine didn't come with the channel lock system. What would you recommend to help me do straight line quilting?
QQ love this quilt! What is your reasoning for using your real foot instead of any of the other foots available feet?😂
It's what I had on from the last quilt 😁
