I’ve really enjoyed this series! When you first showed all the buckets I wondered if you were crazy to have amassed so many strips, but then we saw your store (which I would love to shop at) and your production rate!! Your efficiency is inspiring and you have so many tips it’s been very worthwhile watching the whole series.
This is the only way I make quilts. I watched a tutorial for a table runner from someone years ago. I figured out how to just enlarge everything to make a quilt.
@suehorn4182 sorry to butt in, but maybe I can help. I look for patterns using smallish blocks that can be assembled in rows (check out her charm packs series!) and treat the assembled rows like strips. Anything that assembles like a 4 or 9-patch works for me, I don't complete the blocks. I sew the components into rows. 4-patch blocks = 2 rows, 9-patch = 3. If I need more quilting density, I crosshatch with alternating corner to corner chevron zig zags. I make only large throw/twin or smaller. They roll & fit my small throated machine.
Thank you! Great for a baby quilt and so fun with different baby or Christmas or other fabrics. I was also thinking for the trendy quilt coats, you could use this method to make the size of each pattern piece.
So cute! I need to make a baby quilt for a new great nephew. He is due in February, so I have a bit of time. I hope I have enough blue in my stash. Thanks so much for this video.
So many of the fabrics from your scrap bins are a trip down memory lane for me . I’ve used quite a few of them over the years and it’s always fun to remember the quilts they were used in
This is so fun and easy for a beginner like me. I think doing an easy quilt like this while doing a challenging quilt is a nice break. Thanks for this!❤
Thank you for such a easy way to quilt as you go. Also for the easy instructions to follow. I have lots of fabric, and a lot of leftover strips. That would benefit a quilt made this way. Also I like the fact that you're sewing and quilting it at the same time. Looking forward to your next video.
Thanks so much Shelley!@ Love your porch quilts. Definitely on my weekend "to-sew" list!! Perfect use of 2 1/2" strips (recently gifted to me for a door prize for our Holiday Party.
This is a unique and clever way to construct a quilt very quickly. It could be the Go-To-Quilt for last minute gifts or as a pick me up when you find yourself in a quilting slump. {{ Am I the only one who has slumps? }} 😳😳😳
When trimming I like to leave 1/4” to 1/2” beyond the edge to leave batting that will fill the binding. That way I don’t lose the design into the binding. Also, don’t bother backtacking because you cut it off when trimming.
I love watching your tutorials, I have the states n my bucket list to make and very much grateful there is not rush in doing the blocks since I'm still collecting the fabric :)
Do you get any drag effect from always stitching the same direction on each half of the quilt? I notice despite the walking foot the top strip has grown a bit by the end of the sewing
I have a 1960 Singer Featherweight 221, can I still do this technique? Is there a walking foot for a machine this old and not computer/electronic in nature?
I enjoyed the tutorial but got confused at the very end. You started with a beautiful fall fabric but seemed to me to end with a red? I may have got confused but I watched three times.
To me, homespun is 100 percent cotton fabric with a looser weave and small imperfections - like it was woven (spun) at home. It usually comes in plaids and other simple designs and muted colors. Hope that helps.❤❤
My, my, I just don't have the time to make all the awesome quilts you have been making. But my want to wants to 😂
And of course, if your scraps are widths other than 2.5", just add them on and the differing widths creates some variety. Good basic pattern.

Such a good dimension for wheelchair quilts. So great for donating to nursing homes!

How big have you made? Do you use wider strips? I might try a large throw. Did you use fusible batting?
I have a longarm so feel it necessary to use it. However, if I were without one I would totally do quilt as you go.
Same here!

I just received a Moda Scrap Bag with 24, 2.5 inch strips. This is the perfect project to use those strips. Thank you so much for sharing!
FINALLY… something I can make with my Homespun!!!!!! Thank you
@@rosinyberg8747 I ordered the fall kit . I’m going to appliqué some pumpkins, leaves etc on it

Brilliant!!!

If not, use the blues as your focus color and fill with a lot of neutrals. It'll be beautiful, and he'll love to snuggle with it
The fusible batting is a BIG plus!

The red/white backed quilt, and beautiful prints on front, reminded me of a xmas quilt. 😊
Fabulous and quick use of my tons of leftover strips! Well done Shelley!

Lindas!!!!! ❤❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉
Great use for random size strips as well. ❤
Appliqued denim patches added here and there would look amazing on the homespun quilts. So many possibilities - thank you for a great tutorial ❤
Love this tutorial. Thanks for sharing!

I just love your videos! Thank you!
Fantastic method for a quilt. Thanks for sharing 👍❤️🙂
Very nice and easy to make. Just a fine quilt to use up scrap strips. Love the brown fabric combination stripes.
Wow! even I could make this quilt!! I have 6-8 jelly rolls and no clue how to use them. Thanks so much!!🍒🌷
I'm always so inspired by your quilts!
Really cute quilt 🥰. Thank you for the video 😊
Nice quilt. I love the way you put together.
I really love the homespun in fall colors!🤩🤩😍❤
Just ❤ this idea, and ❤ the second quilt because it’s quirky
Great idea! Love it. I really like the homespun. FUN FUN!
Love all your projects!
Great quilt, thank you for sharing.
This would work great for a cuddle blanket, using a cozy flannel for the backing fabric. Thanks for the tutorial!
Love your channel! You always have great quilting ideas and I love your monthly updates on projects and I love the unboxing!

Awesome! Thank you!!!
A great idea.😊 i think I could do a bargello this way? Thank you 😊
love this
Perfect for a Baby quilt

Thank you!
I really enjoyed this quilt idea, so glad I found you and your channel! Have a nice long weekend
This is so awesome! I am retired and still cannot keep up with you!
Thank you.
Awesome 😊
Nice quilts!😊
I like sewing 2 strips at a time
So clever. Do you just add to the individual strips to make a bigger quilt?
Love it, thx.
you can get quilt clamps to hold the roll as you quilt
Something new for me
❤❤❤
Because I’m learning as I go this would be great.
love it

Seems like you could use the Type It Quilt pattern and this method, so the top is a little more interesting.
This looks great! If I use a jelly roll, how big does the backing and batting need to be?
Love this. Did you adjust your stitch length or use your normal?
Could you blend this QAYG pattern with a jelly roll race pattern?
What kind of polyester fusible batting did you use?
Do you get any drag effect from always stitching the same direction on each half of the quilt? I notice despite the walking foot the top strip has grown a bit by the end of the sewing
Maybe a little bit, but not a lot
Loved this tutorial. What is the name and number of the fusible batting?
I have a 1960 Singer Featherweight 221, can I still do this technique? Is there a walking foot for a machine this old and not computer/electronic in nature?
I think there might be. It would be worth looking into that. Good luck and Happy Quilting!
The Featherweight Shop has them I believe.
Hi! You mentioned using an iron on batting for this tutorial. May I ask what brand/name? TIA
Could I do this with different size strips
Yes!
Another fun 9ne
I enjoyed the tutorial but got confused at the very end. You started with a beautiful fall fabric but seemed to me to end with a red? I may have got confused but I watched three times.
I showed two different versions in 2 different colorways at the end
Can anybody tell me what "homespun" means?
Thank you and greetings from Germany

@@faithwellman6272 Thank you, that's interesting, I think there's no similar expression for such a fabric in German.
👋☺️
Has anyone tried this technique using smaller or larger strips?
I Love this! Thank you for sharing ❤
