Amazing to see how cleverly it built the relationship between Ford and McGillis without any kissing or overt sexuality, unlike the typically 80s-bred 'Top Gun' a year later, also starring the latter one. Weir wisely relied on atmosphere, culture clash and unification, melancholy, nuances, while the late, youngest Scott just gave you a neon-drenched fantasy.
One of my favorite sweet pairings of song and scenes, Harrison Ford sexy man, off to see final Indiana Jones movie today, big heart admiration for you sir!
This version seems different from the ones I have heard when searching Sam Cooke. It seems I hear more of the (I guess bass guitar) notes in the background in this version, and the voice is different in my opinion as well
That's not Sam Cooke. The studio chose not to license the original recording and instead hired studio backup singer Greg Chapman to do a cover of the song. This cover song was Chapman's 15 minutes as he never did anything else, as far as music goes, that is noteworthy. This was a huge mistake as Chapman's cover just isn't that good and ruins what was otherwise a great scene.

are you sure the song is performed by Chapman, and not Sam Cooke ?
You're right. It is Sam Cooke.
No it's Greg Chapman singing made to sound like Sam@@DanKelley83777
