NOTE: I mistakenly called f-stops millimeters in the video. Just to clarify, the lens has f/16-f/2.8. Those aren't millimeters. They are f-stops. I keep refreshing the X-T5 shipping screen on B&H and clearly not paying attention to the video script today. My apologizes for any confusion. 😲

  • @sclogse1
    @sclogse1 Год назад +2

What I recommend is picking up some 1960's fashion mags to see how ultra wides were used. Even Esquire. You'll see the camera placement for the models makes the most sense. And of course, the models are tall and thin...

This thing of a lens just arrived this morning. First Impressions: Its a weird thing. But for just 170 Euros, it's worth the fun. Very solid built, all goes smooth. But: Don't try to pixel-peep ! And one funny thing: Due to its huge wide angle, my histogram is freaking out. You have everything in the frame. Therefore I just underexpose by two or three stops. Works good. Focussing: Well, it's not easy, when you want some really close shots. I do it hyperfocal and guessing. Works good.
Who needs this Lens ? Nobody ! But its just a lot of fun, when you try to avoid your fingers and shoes to be on the photo.

I appreciate your effort to make new fujifilm video so often!
also taking my time to ask you about how to use shutter speeds lower than framerate on xt3-xt4 cameras, I believe you're the one who knows fuji cameras best!
Love your Channel, you are one of the greatest teachers out online on RUclips, no doubt. Every video is entertaining and full of details. Keep it up!

I’ve been wanting a circular fish eye for Fuji for a while, but not wanting to spend too much on it. This one looks fantastic! Thanks for the review, Chris.
    Love the pumpkins pic!

Okay, this thing is absolutely bonkers. I thought you'd go for some 7.5mm one, as they fill the whole frame of the cropped X-mount vision - and provide more... _sane_ (while still very funky) results. Many thanks for expanding (and bending) my horizons to an even crazier degree.

I just ordered one of these today and can't wait to get it! I was going to get the apsc version for my new Sony A7RV and put the camera in crop mode but at the last second decided to get the micro four thirds version and use it on my Olympus EM1-MIII. Looks like such a fun lens and for $149 it's not going to break the bank or disappoint me that much if I don't like it.

Thanks, funny I was checking out my Fuiji options for a fish eye lens a couple of days ago. I currently own a Samyang 8mm that's a few years old from my old Nikon gear. I used it with an adapter to mount on the X-T20 and X-T3 and didn't care for the results. I'll have to check this one out.

I love this lens... but it really is hard to keep your hand out of shot. I've taken some blinding images, then got home and found my fingertips crept into the frame. But when it all goes to plan? It's awesome. Now, I am torn between whether to keep this or the Meike 6.5mm...

Thinking of getting this lens, the word "tripod2 seems to loom up along with it. If mounted on an arm that extends horizontally, it just may work.
Plus there's the new and improved Fuji app.😅

Thank you for your awesome and entertaining content!
This lens is also useful for scientific purposes:
For example, in a canopy analysis, where you want to calculate the leaf area index (LAI) in a forest stand. There this angle of view is necessary.
You need a tripod, level the camera pointing to the sky and then take photos. You can than analyze the difference and changes in canopy coverage and more importantly in leaf area from the same locations over time and between different sites (stress from drought and climate change after a storm/harvest/disease/etc or to calibrate remote sensing data from satellites). Then load those photos (important to have good and equal exposure) into a specialized program to analyze it.
Great lens for that, i could see myself getting it just for that!

Wonderful review as always. I see the lens had a DOF scale...could you tell me please what is the DOF range when focused at Hyperfocal Distance with the Aperture set wide open? (the INF mark set to f/2.8) With close focus at 8cm, I'm assuming that scale focus even wide open makes the lens almost 'focus free.'

You calling f-stops millimeters was a little jarring. Maybe you can remmedy this mistake with a pinned comment as it might confuse some people.

I take a lot of pictures and enjoy my photography a lot.
It is my opinion that China, Russia and America are going to war, as a matter of fact we are already at war with them in many ways.
If you don’t believe this then why have so many companies already been going through cyber attacks and many have been put out of business completely.
So I have to ask the question why are so many Americans still buying Chinese goods and products daily?
Why are so many Chinese products promoted on Facebook and other social media outlets.
Why do I see all kinds of Photography gear and Lens from China promoted on RUclips?
Why do I see so many folks bragging about their new Chinese lens on all the photography forums?
Obviously we are now living with generations of people who never watched the death tolls each night from Vietnam!
Obviously we are living with people that haven’t a clue how many lives were lost at Pearl Harbor and World War Two.
Do you have to see blood and bodies out in the street before you get it people.
    Wake Up!
