  • I had a problem where my Lenovo v570's one key recovery button would no longer boot into the recovery partition, and being windows was unbootable, I had to search for another solution to boot the recovery partition. Fortunately the Hirens boot CD had the tool necessary to get it going again.

    I have been roaming around forums for around five days, did try everything in my mind including hiren. But I didn't know about the PooP thing. Still I failed to do the recovery until I popped on your vid.. thanks a lot mate

    Steve, I really appreciate you making a video of this to help out others. I upgraded to windows 10 and had issues with it. I decided to revert back to Windows 7 and keyboard quit responding. I was struck on the log in screen. One key recovery button was only turning the laptop off/on. There was not much info on the web, specific for Lenovo One Key recovery issue. Boot CD is new concept to me. I couldn't have figured it out without the help of your video. Also saved about 75-100 bucks by avoiding the need to go to local computer repair guy. Thank You once again!! Prashanth...

    Hi there, I stumbled upon this video and I am thrilled to report that this worked for me. One thing I had to do differently was to boot from the disk1 partition4 rather than the PLOP option. When I used the PLop option, it would load the leaf page, but not the one key restore interface. I have never heard of Hirens bootcd and I think it is GREAT. Thank you for sharing.

      In addition, you said that you were not able to solve the problem that restore button is not working and that this is no longer a problem because you know how to get recovery software. I agree .. it is not a problem anymore.
      But I have an idea how to avoid the need for using disk or USB stik to get to the recovey screen/ -
      You can use EasyBCD. With this software you can add Hiren's.BootCD.15.2.iso. To the boot menu!
      save the iso on some area on the PC but not in the C partition (where windows is installed!)
      and just add the iso file to the boot menu

    I used YUMI to "burn" the Hirens boot cd iso onto a 2 GB flash drive. A system selection way down the list past linux was Hirens. I put flash drive in,, started Lenovo V570 laptop, pushed F12 to access boot select and chose flash drive to boot. Worked just like Steve described with a DVD copy. Other software for making bootable flash drives should also work.

    • @SteveStoltz
      @SteveStoltz  8 лет назад

      +DarkXenome It sounds like the hard drive may have some corrupt sectors. the Hirens cd has some hard drive checking utility's that may recover the drive enough to allow you to boot into recovery and get past that point. If you do successfully get the drive to factory condition make sure to make the recovery dvds with the lenovo utility, so when the drive finally goes south your not up a creek without a paddle. Hope this helps.

    Hi, After I upgrade to the free win 10 OS my Lenovo ideacentre K410 no longer works the OneKey Recovery 7.0 features. Show me the following notice: The program cannot find the initial backup image. This function is currently unavailable. But when you use Diskpart.exe you can see the oem "recovery Partitio" of 25 Gb. I install the minitool partition wizard free version and show me that "lenovo_part" 25Gb capacity and 11.70 Gb used is there. Originally that PC comes with windows 7 home preinstalled and now if I want to recover to the initial oem state, I cann't cause the OKR function not works. If I use the hirens cd and everything works like the video, then the OKR button function can works when the pc state is in initial oem? Any hints or comments to fix that partition will be appreciate. Thanks a lot Steve for the video.

    Do u have Windows 7 and OKR 7.0? Then you are lucky. (Might still work on different Windows, just not sure) Here is the way how to do it: and its VERY EASY- just BURN by using the "broken" OKR - FACTORY DEFAULT RECOVERY DISKS! - its very secure but might take longer time (took me total of 2 hours). OKR cannot boot from your hard drive anymore but it still works and can burn dvds of your original windows. If you have a dvd burner just use the OKR (I used version7.0), to burn the recovery dvds. It will acess the hidden partition and guide you through. It took from me 4 dvds. After that you need to make your dvd rom the first starting device in bios. The way I made it in my G780 was selecting it in boot menu in bios, selecting it by pressing enter and moving it upward so its just above the hard drive, by using f5 and f6 than saving the changes. After all is instaled reverse your actions of course. It took 1 hour to restore it from those 4 dvds.
    Here are pictures step by step: support.lenovo.com/cz/cs/documents/HT071444
    If you cant see the above website just google: OneKey Recovery 7.0 - Creating Factory Default Recovery Disks

    I installed the ISO and burned it to the cd but when I insert it just boots me into some kind of modified version of windows. I'm really confused at this point.

      Use the arrow keys to scroll down when you get to the boot menu, it will default to the custom windows if you don't select something else.

      Ok so I managed to downgrade the version of the ISO and I got it to boot up to the plop manager but unfortunately it tells me that there was no valid bootsector signature to the partition, well I guess I can’t officially factory reset my pc :( Thanks for the help anyways though.

    The disc does not boot and I was stuck at the Lenovo screen. What did I do wrong?

    • @SteveStoltz
      @SteveStoltz  6 лет назад

      It sounds like you need to check the boot sequence in the bios to be sure that the cd rom is set to boot before the hard drive

    • @cheechuntan4816
      @cheechuntan4816 6 лет назад

      do you know how I can check that? I have v570 just like you. I have tried the repeated F1/F2 keys

    • @SteveStoltz
      @SteveStoltz  6 лет назад

      It may be one of the f keys f9 thru f12 or possibly the delete key. I no longer have that laptop in my possession so I cant check for sure.

    Is there a way without the CD?

    • @SteveStoltz
      @SteveStoltz  6 лет назад

      I think there may be a way to install the Hyrens boot disk to a usb drive and then boot from that, I have not tried it though.

    • @DaniiaRoxyo
