P S, I was 17 when we started at school but we had 1 Commodore 64 between us and the teachers were basically trying to work out was going on. 1 hr to download the cassette tape no drives until Atari came out. COOL.
My solution was warming up my computer. At first I achieved this by rebooting 20 times. I thought that, as is said at the end of this video, it was related to dust. But, my intermittent non-boot, was cured by putting my PC in front of a heater. I think that old grease in the bearings might be the cause. Try warming your computer up. I tried restoring settings to default, putting the HD at the top of the boot sequence, and every boot but no BIOS setting worked. The PC does not have a drive so I could not repair windows (now I have a CD/DVD usb drive on order. They are cheap). The problem was that the disk was not spinning up. I guess that there was hardened grease in the bearings or mould or dust or something. I had not used it for about two years and it had been sitting near floor level, so perhaps dust is the most likely. The above worked. I shook my computer a bit too.
Thank you sooooo much I searched for answers alot for ages, but nothing and no one even gave me a hint. They just make things worse or the same U really helped me today. Thx! :)
