I watched your videos back to back when I was pregnant with my babies. I just had my third baby (VBA2C! 🎉🤩) and I obviously didn't pay enough attention to the "when am I in labour" video because I got to 10cm before I even knew I was actually in "proper" labour 😂 my first son and my first vaginal birth, bit of a shock but I was totally over the moon 😂 never got to use the hospital bag things I packed (room spray, fake candles and lollies) because it happened so fast 😂 no more babies for me, but still find your content so interesting I'll continue to watch ❤️ my son is 9 weeks now and he's a little dream ❤️
Sending lots of love and positivity ☀️💖

As far as people commenting on YOUR pregnancy/parenting/life choices they are hands down YOUR choices to make. Now that I'm pregnant with baby #6 I get SO many comments of "you know what causes that right?" Or other similar ones. That said, it can feel a bit different when it's your parent or someone else you're really close with making those comments and can be harder to ignore them. With my first child my mom was going to be the person in the room with me and she ended up taking the birth classes with me. Afterwards she actually admitted that given all the information she learned in those classes (even though she'd given birth 3 times 20+ years before) she likely would've made different choices if she was pregnant now. My advice for people you are close with that seem to have strong opinions based off outdated information, is to invite them to take those classes then talk to them again. Chances are opinions will change.

At the mention of Mother's Day... just reminds me that my baby will be one year old! He was born last year on Mother’s day weekend. I just realized I'll get to hold my baby on Mother’s Day this year. He was in the NICU on a cooling blanket on Mother’s day last year.
I ended up laboring in a nursing bra and grippy socks...haha. I tried the whole hospital gown thing...it didn't last long.

Just wanted to say thank you! My last pregnancy I watched you the whole time, legit everyday I felt like you were my actual midwife 😅
I ended up having a precipitous labor and ended up having a free birth in my living room (to a perfect and healthy baby) while my other children were asleep upstairs 😅😴
I legitimately said aloud 'flex and flow' when I knew I wouldn't make it to a hospital.
I'm counting on you to get me through this current pregnancy! Thank you for everything you do. You really are a difference to this mama.

    I really appreciated this one!
As for everyone’s 500,000 opinions on labor and delivery, I have slowly learned to smile, thank them (genuinely) for their opinion/and or advice and then move on. I often don’t say what I’ll do unless they actually ask what I’m doing, but this has helped avoid too much conflict. For instance, my MIL has a VERY strong opinion that every woman should receive an episiotomy since there is always a chance of tearing when pushing. She had an episiotomy with all of her kids and she really thinks I should do it with every baby since I did tear quite badly with my first. My second baby tore me only a tiny bit (one stitch) and she still went off on a speech about how I should have just been cut. I smiled, thanked her for sharing, tried to find a common ground and then just kept my opinion to myself.
Most people just like to talk and when you allow them to say their piece, they move on 😂
    Just my 2 cents ❤

YES!! GO WITH YOUR GUT! My first labor started with my water breaking and had my son 14 hrs later with 1hr pushing. had spinal headaches and back pain for a while after from the epidural. My second I decided to prep for unmedicated. My mom told me her first was long labor but my brother 2nd and I 3rd were super fast labors so kept that in the back of my mind. The am I turned 38 weeks I felt off like lots of Braxton hicks and just tired. I put my son down for his nap at 10:30 and by the time he got up around 12:30-1 in the afternoon I decided to text my husband to have him come home early.. I had a gut feeling to go in and get checked. Especially because I had to wait for my husband to get home from about 30 minutes away (live in the country) and we had a drop off our son yet at family's house which is another 30 minutes away and then get to the hospital 20 minutes from there. We finally got to the hospital at just before 4 PM and was already 8 cm. I had my daughter 2 hours later at 6:01 PM. Completely unmedicated. My contractions didn't get super noticeable until the drive from the sitters to the hospital. And didn't start to get unbearable or unmanageable or even close to 511 until i was at 9 1/2 centimeters. pushed 15min and she was here. If I ignored my gut feeling and waited for my husband to get home I either would have had her at home? in the car, or would have had her at my husband's aunts house (sitter) while dropping my son off.

I’ve been watching your videos for awhile, especially while I was pregnant with my daughter. I had my baby January 20th 2022, I was induced and start to finish the process was 30 hours. My water was broken immediately and I was hooked up to an epidural immediately as well. My baby was “face up” which I knew because I heard my OB say it, but I didn’t realize what that positioning meant. After being on pitocin and an epidural for over 24 hours I was finally ready. Long story short after 2 hours of pushing and the nurses trying to manually turn her (ouch) she wasn’t budging. My doctor came in and said “forceps or csection” and within five minutes my OB did an episiotomy and used the forceps to pull her out (super ouch, I tore after being cut). I had a third degree tear and my baby came out not crying, febrile, and stunned. The forceps caused a right brachial plexus injury. I was so heartbroken and in shock. She’s 10 weeks old and her right arm has shown little improvement. She can move her wrist and that’s about it. She started PT at 5 days old and still goes and at 6 months old she will potentially have a nerve graft surgery at Shriners in Philadelphia. Other than this she’s a super baby.
I say all of this because I want to know what I can do to stay calm next pregnancy. I’m so worried about what will happen to me and my baby. I can’t go through that difficult labor and delivery again. It took me awhile to realize that I actually had a traumatic birth. What can I do next time around to not anticipate something happening?

I haven’t been back to this channel since I had my baby 7 weeks ago at 36 weeks (cholestasis) I’ve missed these videos!
This was my 4th baby, I have experienced opinions from EVERYONE over the years… it is hard to take in all those opinions, but this is YOUR BODY, YOUR PREGNANCY, YOUR BABY (except in an adoption or surrogate situation, which in those cases it is still YOUR BODY AND your BIRTH) so you make decisions that are best for you! Your mom isn’t going to be screaming on the table if you regret not getting an epidural…. Your dad isn’t going to have birth trauma and regrets afterwards from decisions you didn’t get to make.
This is your birth, you choose. Take advice from medical professionals, take support from family…. But if the opinions are clashing at any point…. YOURS WINS.

Over opinionated family here! The only person I told is my mother even though she is also super worried about our choice to homebirth. I’m trying to educate her. The rest don’t even know I’m pregnant. My friends and community are very supportive of home birth and it’s a normal way of life where we live so I’m very comfortable telling people here. Other than that- nope! They’ll find out I was pregnant when the baby is born!

My mom definitely had opinions on my workouts when I was pregnant! When she was pregnant she went for occasional walks. I’m explained to her that as long as I maintained my level of activity and intensity, and didn’t increase it, that exercise during pregnancy is very beneficial. She also had some opinions on Baby Led Weaning vs purées, as well as my plan to breastfeed until 1 year and then let my son wean himself (she wanted me to cut him off at 1 year). What are the chances of shoulder dystocia occurring in a second pregnancy? Thanks!!

Quick pep talk: TEARING IS NOT AS BAD AS IT SOUNDS! I just had a natural birth 3 weeks ago with my first baby, 9lb 3oz, and had a second degree tear forwards and backwards. He's got the shoulders of a swimmer! My contractions stayed 3 minutes apart for my entire labor so I was very aware of all the sensations and let me tell you I was terrified of tearing. It turns out though, with all the other pain going on in the area, the tearing isn't significantly worse. What it felt like for me was the "ring of fire" was mostly a burning pain, and there were a couple places (where I tore) that were more of a stinging than a burning. That's it! Don't let your fear of tearing keep you from pushing effectively, you will get through it and you will get your baby at the end of the day, which is all we really want anyway! Good luck mamas ❤️

Hey Sarah! I have been following along since 2020 when I was pregnant with my son Kilion! I love your content and your heart to help women have the birth they desire! I am pregnant with my second now and have a question about the tailbone and pain in that area during contractions. Every contraction I had during my first labor was on my tailbone and rectum. It was excruciating and not at all what I anticipated. I was induced with Cervidil and eventually pitocin and was not progressing well. Eventually I was stuck at a 6 for more than 7 hours and my doctor felt it safest to get a C-section. When they were doing the C-section she saw that my tailbone was forward and noted it in my records. What are your thoughts on this? Could it have prevented my son from coming down enough to dilate me? Is that why all my pain was in my rectum? Do you think it'll happen again?

  • @ourlittlelife2818
    @ourlittlelife2818 2 года назад

Hi, Sarah! I have a quick question for you.
Moments after the birth of my son, the nurse told me I needed Pitocin and then gave me a shot in my upper thigh while I was being stitched up.
At some point I remember my hearing going away and I got tunnel vision. I looked at my doula and could barely see her and I said “I think I’m passing out” and my head started falling back, but I fought it and was able to barely stay awake. They got me some juice and Jello and after 5 minutes or so I was okay.
They told me I “lost some blood” and the next day they put me on iron and told me I was anemic.
Does it sound like I hemorrhaged? They never said the word or told me that I did, but I just assume that’s what happened… Or is it pretty normal to pass out after birth? I did pass out fully the next morning.

Hi Sarah! I’ve watched your videos for years and when I became pregnant with our baby girl I felt like a pro with all the knowledge you’ve given💕
But here’s my situation, I am 39 weeks +2 days pregnant really wanted an induction at 39 weeks but my hospital is unfortunately not doing elective inductions until I reach 41 weeks unless there is a medical necessity. I have not naturally dilated at all so my doctor did a manual dilation enough to place a cook ballon. I kept it in for 18 hours at 80mL it got me from not dilated at all to 3.5cm overnight& My cervix is 80% effaced. I lost my mucus plug and got my bloody show after the balloon. This was now 2 days ago. With all this being said I am still not having any contractions nor am I feeling any progress. What does this mean and how can I help my body along when it obviously doesn’t want to do anything naturally. I’m feeling defeated☹️

Hi Sara thank you so much for your videos they’ve helped me so much with passed pregnancies! I have a question though, I’m pregnant with baby number 4 and I got a phone call from my nurse yesterday that has made me kind of nervous. Apparently I have antibodies in my blood this pregnancy they said I could’ve gotten them since I had to have a blood transfusion after my second birth and they want to test my husbands blood to see if he has negative blood( I’m O positive by the way) because if he does they said it could be dangerous to our baby. I’m not very smart when it comes to all this medical stuff so I thought maybe you could explain what this all means for me, my baby and my birth? The nurse did say it could cause severe anemia to the baby and some other things so yeah anyways if you could answer my question it would be great! Thank you for everything you do!!

Hi Sarah! Currently 24 weeks 3 days pregnant with my second baby and I am wanting to start preparing for labor. I watched your videos in my first pregnancy and I am sure that is why I had such a great labor and delivery. This time around I have an extremely unstable pelvis and am not very mobile. Some days I can’t walk due to the pain or my hips just being unable to support my body weight. Because of this and APD I have not been nearly as active in this pregnancy. I work with a Pelvic floor therapist and that is the extent of my activity. In my first pregnancy I went for long walks and did lots of yoga and squats. Do you have any tips on how to get myself ready in hopes for another unmedicated birth?

What is the probability the 3rd birth (vbac🤞) will be more like a 2nd birth since the 1st was csection or bc I did labor and did some pushing will it be like a actually 3rd more up in the air( shorter/faster)??

Wow I'm definitely considering asking if I can go without an IV since I am low risk and this will be my third vaginal birth without the epidural😊 however I have 1 question. I know they give pitocin to help the uterus contract back down to its usual size once baby is out. Will they potentially deny me this because they need to give me pitocin thru an IV?

    Coffee and question!
Im due with my 4th baby in august. Baby 2&3 were both over 10lbs. Im expecting number 4 to also be over 10 lbs. I’ve watched your shoulder dystocia video and am prepared for the maneuvers if needed. I also know from you that i have a proven pelvis (literally you are more helpful than the ob’s i have seen) does the fact that i have birthed large babies smoothly (short fast labor, didn’t get stuck, definitely tore) help my case? Meaning is it more likely it will go smoothly or am I challenging odds by thinking it will go as well as my previous deliveries went? Flex and flow, im sure. I just don’t want to sound cocky (but educated and confident, yes!) at my appts when i say ‘i can do this. I have done this. I’m not scared. “
    Thank you!

Its an uncomfortable topic to seek help with. After talking with other close mama friends this is for sure a topic some ladies really need help with and don't know how to even begin talking about it.

What is the difference between an epidural and a spinal block for a c-section? My mother had a spinal with her first pregnancy and she said the headache the next day was so bad, even opening her eyes hurt. I know that epidurals have a chance of doing that, too, if the needle goes in too far, but do you always have that with a spinal?

Is there any risk to delivering the baby in an intact sac? I arrived to the hospital at 8cm and 100% effaced and my water had not broken. Labor was progressing quickly and my doctor said he could either deliver the baby with the waters intact or break my water. I let him decide and he opted to break my water. Just curious if there’s any risk involve of delivering with the waters intact??

Hi Sara, my name is Anna. I’ve been watching for about a year. Love your energy beauty and ease around the truth. Your story of how you became a Nurse is so powerful! Cried listening to how The Lord positioned you and brought you great favor! I recently had an emergency c section, and 5 months later I’m pregnant again 😳😳😳can I try to have a natural birth with this baby? I’m really anxious about going to Dr again as I know they’ll just pooop all over this. Can you weigh in. 😍 I was being induced, had got to 3cm/50/-2 in 12 hrs. OBGYN came in and decided to break my water, for noooo reason, than I’d been going for 12hrs, she said “let’s just speed this up”. Baby’s head was not in position, cord came down before head. Rushed to ER had an emergency C section, general anesthesia, no time for spinal block/epidural. Baby delivered safely & was healthy 8lbs 14oz. Never want to go through that again, pregnant again want a mid wife birthing room vbac delivery. Is this possible? Found a beautiful mid wife who loves the lord near me, and just want Him and His presence in this next delivery! No hospitals/procedures/ their timelines etc…☹️

Please talk about twin births soon!! I am having twins and I am seriously struggling to find free birth education on YT and elsewhere like I did with my singleton. I also am struggling with the c section recommendation.. I also really feel uncomfortable with the thought of a breech extraction. I don’t get why you can’t push a baby out breech in a hospital, when they allow that in a home birth with twins. Really looking for information and encouragement

I have a question: do you know the statistics for how much more likely you are to have a still birth, placental insufficiency, meconium in the fluid, etc. when you go past 41 weeks? Or even past 40 weeks? My provider just told me that she feels uncomfortable letting women be pregnant past 41 weeks, but she didn't give any statistics on the increased risk for the issues she mentioned. I've already had one healthy pregnancy and birth (went into labor on my own and had a medication free hospital birth), and I would like to do it again with this new baby. I'm nervous about being forced into an induction, but I'm also not willing to risk the health of my child and I want to be able to make an informed decision. As a side note, I switched providers late in my first pregnancy because my OB was trying to guilt trip me into having an elective induction at 39 weeks and gave no other reason than that I would be putting the baby at huge risk of meconium aspiration if I didn't. It was a very bad situation and I want to feel like I'm allowed to make my own decisions based on reliable information! I LOVE coffee and questions, I have binge watched all of your videos since I found you at 12 weeks pregnant with #2, and I SO wish I had known about your channel when I was having my first! You truly are a wonderful educator, beautiful, and incredibly intelligent. What you do changes lives, even if it's just people like me who are soaking up all of your RUclips information. As an RN, I feel so appreciative of people like you in the medical field. I know I don't have to tell you this, but keep up the good work!
