Sonic Chronicles was supposed to be an entire side-franchise but thanks to some legal troubles with the myth himself Ken Penders they had to scrap the entire idea. Not for legal reasons - they just couldn't be bothered with Ken anymore so threw the idea out. Ken tried to claim the Nocturnus Clan were a ripoff of his Echidna storylines during his time at Archie Comics.
So one thing about sonic chronicles second half is the sudden increase in names from greek characters. One of these, and probably the cause of it all is the tentacle monster in the jump cut flashback that ix starts at the end of the game that brings nocturne and all echidnas into the twilight cage. The tentacle monster is named Argus, a Greek tentacled character in Greek myth. Why was he named this? Because he defeats the mother of all monsters, which is called: Echidna
Can't believe Alpharad doesn't know that Scylla and Charybdis are a reference to the classic Greek epic the Odyssey by Homer Simpson, he better brush up on his ancient mythology if he wants to really appreciate this 500 IQ Sonic lore SMH my head
I love how this game has dozens of small things that it’s done not just right, but amazingly right. And then it has like 4 huge things that it’s completely dropped the ball on.
I waited so long for the sequel that I forgot about it, only to remember years later, and looked it up to learn it was never coming. By the way, you cannot lose the final fight, even if you fail every prompt.
Man I can’t tell you how much fun this game was when I was a kid. Can’t say I ever used Shadow the way you did though. OKO mechanics were not my cup of tea. If I’m swinging, I’m hitting something.
