Initially watched this video several months ago and it brought back memories of sewing for my toddler 30yrs ago. Fast forward, just returned from spending two weeks with my yummy Grands. Our very petite, 4.5yr old granddaughter, has decided she loves dresses. Mom wants her to look cute for preschool but challenged with petite sizing and arts & crafts mishaps. When that precious voice asks, “Lolli can you please make me pretty dresses that twirl?”, Lolli bursts with pride. Lolli has been shopping for patterns, fabrics and design inspirations…. And sitting down to rewatch your tutorial. (Sure wish I would have watched, “how to measure” before we left for home. Sending mom a soft tape measure and a link to your video. She’s so petite, we will be doing a lot of editing to patterns). Fingers crossed, mom and grand loving play dresses will progress to allowing smocking on the dresses.
Thanks again for your great assists

Love all your suggestions for how to sew with a baby!! My toddler needs new dresses and I wasn’t sure if I was crazy to make them with a 3 month old in the house but you’ve given me courage that it can be done lol!!!

I had 2 boys. I wasn't sewing much when they were young, but this makes me wish I had a girl too. Those dresses are so cute.

I was thinking you could do the same thing for boys - just shorten it to a diaper style shirt. Thanks Terri :-)

What a great idea! Dress up or down. Love it! My mom had 7 children and sewed for all of us. She worked outside the home 2 to 3 day a week. I loved the things that she made us. Thanks for sharing.

Wow what are her secrets?!? That's incredible!

I don't know all of her secrets, but she sewed a lot at night. She also taught me how to sew on a treadle machine. It boggles my mind now to think that all the machines had only a straight stitch back in the 40's and 50's and we have machines today that have hundreds of stitches. I am now an owner of 4 vintage machines and love them. I am also getting back to hand sewing. I am loving it. So when I see you doing hand embroidery and your smocking, its just wonderful. I enjoy your channel so much. Thanks for sharing your talents with us.@@sarahclassicsewing

Great pattern and plan. Blouses and/or turtle necks underneath when weather is cooler? Is the neck and arm openings large enough to wear something underneath? When my children were small the 10 to 30 mins., naptimes, and nights were my sewing times. Planning is the key. Love your channel. You and your children and your sewing is fun to watch and learn.

Thanks so much 😙 yupp there is plenty of room for layers underneath, that's our plan.
