- The thought of hunting wild turkey in south Florida on an ORANGE GROVE is one of the more magical hunts I can think of. I'm also a fruit kind of gal, so there is something extra satisfying in hunting in a place that I can also pick and eat an orange off of a tree. We were lucky enough to hunt with our friend and insanely talented turkey and fishing guide, Ryan Nitz. Then I butchered the turkey in the back of my van, and made some Nashville Hot turkey sandwiches (per Nick's request!). I made some mistakes but they still turned out great :) ENJOY!

Oh man. I remember when I first met my husband I was a vegetarian... And like 6 years later I went on my first turkey hunt with him... We do big game and stuff too now but I think turkey will always be my favorite!

Very cool hunt, I had a similar experience got a 5 Jake show for 20min! I found a filet/flex blade knife works great for turkeys and gets off a bit more meat than a rigid blade knife.Keep up the great content!

Congrats on the Nice Bird Allie. I drink the 7-Up ZERO that is clear & I cut it with Vita Ice blueberry/pomegranate & some water. Probably an even mixture of 7-Up & 💧 with 20% of the Vita-Ice. 2 years ago people caught on that the Blueberry/Pomegranate was the bomb but now I've been able to find it cuz they upped the production of that flavor. Something that will give u energy when u spend long hours hunting & can't eat.

A really good video congrats on such a big turkey 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 personally I wouldn't have marinated it for that long but the recipe does sound interesting thanks. I'll try it out with chicken before I do it with turkey.
Yes, the marinade was either to salty or in there for too long. Whoops!

I had a similar encounter with a Jake last year. Very windy day, cold, and no turkeys gobbling back at the call. I told my friend who was calling “ There’s turkeys here, I can smell them “ My buddy was like “That’s cow manure that you’re smelling “ I say no, it smells different. Sure enough, ten minutes later, a Jake comes in to the decoy. We watched him molest ‘Blow Up Betty’ for a good 10-15 minutes. When he turned away, I showered the back of his head with 5 shot. It was intended to be a meat bird, and it was towards the end of the season, otherwise I would not have shot it. My dad sent me pictures of the meat on the grill. He loves it. Congrats on your bird, it’s a big ‘un.

Nice one! Our birds are on the decline. We have gone from a 3 bird limit to a 1 bird limit this season. Sure hope they bounce back soon.

I dont brine wild turkey..use flour salt pepper an fry it..thats how i like it...the back neck thighs an legs go in crock pot for broth an turkey an rice..my mother picks the neck an back off for herself an eats heart an gizzard..been eating wild turkey for almost 50 years..i love it

When you don’t have a vacuum sealer, could you simply freeze in freezer bags?
I usually like saran wrap then butcher paper with scotch tape holding it all together.
Awesome bird, do you prefer hunting from a blind or using natural cover
Natural cover for me! Blinds are definitely more comfy though.

Great hunt. Only thing I’d say is don’t shoot them in full strut let them stick that head up so you have more of a target. Also if you have a boss gobbler running birds off in a field use a turkey fan on the ground and ge will come running to run you off then bang. Game over lol big old turkey fan,show that and hooks off more :p
