- As Behavior Analyst, it’s common for our days and domains of practice to look completely different. This is why I love sharing a Day in the of a BCBA. This BCBA does A LOT!! & you get a front row seat to come along for the ride.
This day will include:
•Direct therapy

• & Content creation for a new brand deal

Our days are so different! I’m stuck in a clinic all day and wish I could be out and about! Great video Dom!

@@domthebcbamom6679 I work primarily in early intervention (which I am learning so much about every day) but occasionally I have adolescent clients. What I enjoy the most is being able to watch the progress from when they start to how far they go! As well as the parent training. Helps to bring treatment full circle (as best as e can.) Seeing the clients happy and thriving is so rewarding! What’s most difficult is balancing program mods, parent training, RBT supervision, session notes and session planning. But I’m finding my way!

Regarding gifts, etc. my company has this written into policy. I side step most of the discomfort of declining gifts by apologizing and referring back to said policy. This minimizes negative impacts on relationships with clients and caregivers in my experience.
Instead, I let my clients and caregivers know I love having pictures drawn or colored by them so I have nice things to display in my office to remind me of them.

Oh yes! Some days my schedule is jammed packed and other days I have 1 meeting and I have time to do some grocery shopping. I try to fit in a new selfcare activities I’m there for me even if it’s a medicine ball at Starbucks and not canceling my chiropractor 😃
RBT here! a client's mom gave me a gift yesterday and told me she wanted me to be permanent but taking it felt kind of wrong but I didn't want to risk hurting her feelings or making her uncomfortable
Why does something so wrong feel so right 🤔😁. This is when where cultural humility comes into play. Do what feels right, what’s culturally appropriate, and if you don’t know what to do, you can always ask your supervisor to compassionately step in

Hi Dom! I am currently an RBT and in my last year of grad school. School is completely online and to be honest I dont feel like I am learning much, which scares me for the exam. I am sooo passionate about this field and really want to do a good job. Any advice?
Hey Jasz9150 thank you for your comment. I know how you are feeling. Do you have a BCBA supervisor? Are all of your classes asynchronous? Do your professors have office hours? If so, I would share some feedback with them. You can also use supplement study materials like Person’s quizzes (free) or BDS modules to help you retain the information and prepare your for the exam. Lastly find a study group. I hope this helps. Thanks again for watching.

I certainly do. This comes directly from the BACB handbook. If you are looking for remote supervision we have a few spots available in June. Link in the description
Acceptable Activities: The trainee’s primary focus should be on acquiring the skills necessary to demonstrate competence in behavior analysis and the skills necessary to interact effectively with consumers, supervisors, families, and others. The supervisor will be responsible for determining whether activities qualify for accruing fieldwork hours and are consistent with the requirements in this document.
• conducting assessments related to the need for behavioral intervention (e.g., stimulus preference assessment, functional assessment, staff performance assessment) or for evaluating behavioral interventions;
• designing, implementing, and systematically monitoring skill-acquisition and behavior- reduction programs;
• writing behavior plans, progress summaries, clinical notes, transition summaries, and professional correspondence;
• overseeing the implementation of behavior-analytic programs by others;
• training others, designing behavioral systems, and performance management;
• communicatingandcollaboratingeffectivelywithcaregiversandotherprofessionals
• other activities normally performed by a behavior analyst that are directly related to
behavior analysis, such as attending planning meetings regarding the behavior-analytic program and researching the literature that is relevant to a current client’s programming.
