I just interviewed for RBT position at Center for Social Dynamics Which I was told would that it will be a 40 hour training and will be paid which I’m very interested doing I was told it will be a week before they get back to me.

I’m a BT, just finished my 40 hour training a few days ago. I have not seen or heard from my BCBA in almost 4 months, parents have also not heard from her. Is this normal??
That is not normal and depending on the situation could be considered unethical I would call the company and ask about the Bcba and when would you expect to see them again? By the way, congratulations on completing your 40 hour RBT training.

The competency assessment will allow a BCBA to identify that you know the terms, how to apply it, and why we apply them. Its like an oral exam or a final project before you sit for the actual RBT exam
I am a middle school teacher with a masters in educational psychology, I feel more on track to become a BCBA rather than RBT. Would I be able to take the BCBA training/exam and then get my hours?
Hi Arian, even with a masters in education you will still have to take additional coursework that is specific to apply behavior analysis in order to move forward towards becoming a BCBA. However, as soon as you enroll in that program, you can start collecting hours after your first day of class. Did you have a program/university in mind? If so, I would reach out to them. Let them know your current level of education and allow them to tell you your next steps towards becoming a BCBA .
How do I find someone to supervise my RBT competency assessment,along with the required Background Check, and live technical support to assist with the BACB Application? I enrolled for free 40 hours training but what about other steps? Please help
Do you have any BCBAs in your work/life settings? They can do the competency exam for you. Or you can find an approved Supervisor who can handle all of this for you. My Supervision program also offers RBT support.
I am currently a para for a HS 18+ program and would love to move towards a BCBA eventually. I wonder if I should step into RBT first and practice it with my students or just go straight for BCaBA to BCBA
Becoming an RBT is never a bad option, it shows that you have met certain BACB requirements to deliver effective behavioral services, it allows you to receive ongoing supervision by a BCBA, and you would be introduced to ouR ethical codes, not to mention it may increase your income with the added credential. This would be a great start to your BCBA journey. But it’s not a necessary one. With approval you can get your supervision hours as a paraprofessional. Please keep us posted on your journey.

Where do you go to take the assessment where do you go to register like you said where do you do to go to access all of this information where do you do the application? Where do you do go to the criminal record? Is there like a specific place? Where do I get a handbook? Uggg so frustrating
The competency assessment can be taken anywhere, but will likely be at your current job with the BCBA that works there along with a mutual client of yours . That BCBA or owner of the company will also have to verify that you have passed a criminal background check. Once all of this is completed you create an account through bacb.com Gateway. That’s where you will upload all of your required documents and apply to take the final exam which will be at a testing center.

Great question. That would probably depend on the state. Like here is Illinois weed is legal, so a job may overlook something like that. What they are really looking for it assault, child abuse or neglect, more violet crimes but that’s just my opinion I don’t know for sure.

Ideally you would want to find a BCBA that works at your current site to provide supervision. Or you can look into remote supervision. Which is what I provide.

I have an 18 year old felony for possession of marijuana. I have my level 1 fingerprint clearance card through the AZ department of public safety and have been working in behavioral health for over 10 years. I work with vulnerable adults and children and have done FBA. Is it a waste of time to try and get certified? I’m feeling a bit stuck, sorry for the long message. Thank you 😊

Wow! That’s something a lot of companies review. I’m sorry that happened. Some things may fall off your record after a period of time if you continue to follow the rules of the road. You can also try another RBT clinic where there is no driving involved.

Thanks for the info. I have worked on the Primary, Intermediate, and Secondary levels of public school SpEd Dept. for 15 plus years, as well as worked for an MHMR State facility (Dept. Of Aging and Disability Services (DADS) ). Along the way I have completed my undergrad BS Interdisciplinary Studies minor Sociology. I have been thinking about doing BCaBA. Which led me to registering for an RBT cert. My question is with the BS degree I already have , could I register for the BCaBA Cert. Which website would I go to retrieve the steps to BCaBC. I wanted to at least get my foot into the door and work as a BCaBA before I commit to getting a Master in BCBA. ( I prefer to work with adults in mental health facility settings) rather than children but I will get in where I fit in .. HELP please 😂❤😊

Great question. Either route you decide, you will have to obtain fieldwork hours which gives you that behavioral health interaction. The benefit of getting all 3 is you have the option of making more money and taking on more leadership roles along your journey of becoming a BCBA. Great question. Some insurance companies won’t cover telehealth sessions anymore for RBT. But that depends on the private insurance.
