      @@VintageTimeGems Sorry if some people did not understand my reference. It's from a Steven Universe. And honestly though, I really enjoy watching your videos. I own some rough crystals as well. And I sometimes think of what they might look like if they were to be faceted. And watching your videos makes me feel so good. You create things from something that is rough and irregularly shaped into something that is beautiful and worth looking at.

I recently got an 11 carat stone at a modest price, being that it has eye visible inclusions, but the green is so rich in hue, that I fell in love with it. • @peteynutt4104
      @peteynutt4104 5 лет назад

      Peridots are always a shade of green yellow. Topaz tends to be yellow but can be blue pink red peach white or even purple.

      @jeanphillippes2196 5 лет назад

      Thanks. Yellow-Green i would say describes the colour. Since my local creek is an ancient volcano run-off, that would probably indicate Olivine from lava. I'll definitely keep an eye for more, but ones recovered so far are too small.

    • @peteynutt4104
      @peteynutt4104 5 лет назад

      @@jeanphillippes2196 olivine tends to form smalln another reason for its rarity in gemologist culture.
      Gems exceeding 3 cm are not very common and those exceeding 10 cm are down right rare.
      Fun fact: the largest gemstone of peridot crafted was a whopping 187 carats I know because I operated a rock shop and my boss bought it it was found in San Carlos Arizona it's a simple round cut gem and probably older then world warI.

    Hey love the videos. Question:
    How does one go about removing peridot crystals that are embedded in hard lava?

    • @canadiangemstones7636
      @canadiangemstones7636 Год назад +1

      The miners generally just hammer them out. Hit the rock, not the peridot. Use a chisel to direct the force if needed. Might put a tarp or towel underneath to keep from losing small bits. Generally no need to saw.
