- This film is based on the manga "All you need is kill". And manga is much more... Darker tbh. And I like both.

It's the one movie when the "bad guys" are actually down right terrifying. No monologue, no fooling around, no pausing to make it more threatening, just ruthless killing.
Chaotic? Yes.
Terrifying? Eh
Missing that commanding psychological presence, that twisted nature
There’s nothing much more there then a chaotic frenzy
Yeah agreed, compare them to the robots in the matrix; much less ominous by comparison
This is because the film can kill anyone off in a second without repercussions. Allowing them to show no mercy to any characters. This allows the mimics to be seen for how dangerous they are. No one is safe, despite literally EVERYONE SURVIVING in the broad scheme of things. It’s amazing what you can accomplish when you don’t have to worry about the repercussions of killing off cast.
Sorry for the long comment
They're chaotic in nature, but they're quite intelligent. Plus, being able to know EXACTLY what their enemies moves because they have a time-travelling Alpha, that makes them the most perfect killing machines.
This movie is like a tutorial that demonstrates the frustrations of doing a speed run of a video game
I need to watch this movie again. It's actually one of those rare gems.
By the time I finally watched it via Blu-ray, I couldn't believe this movie didn't do better.
A beautifully made film that sadly, not enough people have seen.
wrong. just old people that haven't seen it
@@iceintheair LOL Raaaay
Yeah it´s actually a quite good, better than expected movie.
read the light novel. loads better. the exosuits in it aren't a death trap to most of the users and the mimics are more alien and terrifying.
Just like another Tom cruise's SciFi movie, Oblivion.
This part of the movie was nerve wrecking because we knew this was their only hope. They no longer had the Mimic’s power. If they fail here, they fail for good.
There is a theory that this wasn't their first time going after the Omega, that they did it at least once before. Cage wouldn't know about the reset because he lost the power, but he would remember all the training and the objective before the transfusion. He retained all the info and combat skills and this loop would start when he wakes up in the hospital or at any point after that. Someone in the helicopter shouts "They know we're coming", maybe an alpha was killed at the site by accident the first time they got there, would explain why there are so many mimics ready and that "deleted" scene in the movie trailer.
1:33 " I see you in the next life " saddest part of the scene, poor guys
they say each other again the next day (next life)
Not really. Cus they end up seeing each other again lol
6 years... and I am still waiting for the sequel.
:) Me to
they even said that part 2 is on the works, yet no news until now....
I don't think there's going to be a sequel anymore, I've read the manga so I think they'll stop here. I hope I'm wrong
i mean the main villain is dead so idk how they will and you know every sequal to a good film will be a rip off. look what happened to harhead when the main story ended they come up with the most random unintresting stuff
I doubt it will have any sequel, nor i think it needs one. On that case, i would also want a sequel to the manga, it's dope asf.
Does anyone else feel the passion the Asian guy feels at the start?
He really gave it his all
I feel like the Asian guy at 1:11 lmao
No
Captain Mifune
He accepted his fate and decided to do as much damage as possible
Fun fact : in the trailers, you can see some clips of Rita, Cage and the J-Squad infiltrating successfuly The Louvre. However, a Mimic suddently attacks them by jumping from a hole. The Mimic, an Alpha, is killed and the day is reseted. That's why Griff says _"Cage, they knew we were coming !"_
Or maybe no such convoluted explanation is needed and they just assumed they were coming.
@@beageler it's not convoluted at all. It makes perfect sense, you just had to use your brain and think.
@@natemora9172 Your comment apllies also to beagelers comment also. You just need to engage your brain and think!
@@okbutthenagain.9402 Thats the exact opposite of beagelers comment. He basically said dont think about it too hard.
@@parallax7789 Nope. But thanks for taking part!
“Reload”is the scariest word for these people lol
This part of the movie was .... extremely intense for me.
The way they moved is just so menacing. They look like they are just glitching in and out of existence. Also,of course the manga is darker,it actually shows people getting impaled and ripped limb from limb. Imagine if this movie was Rated R and went through with that.
If you look closely they don’t actually lift their legs, they move like slinkys
Hard to see in this scene but on the beach it’s more obvious
I wish it was rated R
I'm an old fart at 61. To me this movie is right up there with Aliens, Predator and The Thing.
Imagine, how brave this people are to follow him )
Especially the pilots, they never got same explanation as the rest of J squad, yet they somehow agreed to steal and pilot the heli for them
Faith,, our most redeeming trait.
they got paid by the actors guild!
Super fun & underrated movie, that should've been just been called, "Live Die Repeat" from the outset, like the director wanted.
Nah. This was 'Groundhogs Day 2'. LoL.
no better like the manga all you need is kill
@@LOCKBEARD With far more interesting concepts. Might as well say it's the same as every movie because it resembles a human being which isn't original.
The action scene of cruise hanging from the ship by the guns and shooting at the mimics while the ship was going at Mach speed across the water was such a god damn creative shot, the entire movie is filled with unique action shots like that….it was almost battlefield like in nature, I love it.
How did I get from hacksaw ridge to here
I feel that
Same here lol
How did I get from family guy to here?
War films
I came from lotr battle scenes lmao
For a normal person, Tom's final hard landing can be fatal
He then has a limp for the remainer of the movie
Ehh, i once had a landing fall like that while going 58 kph on ma bike on an early rainy day, as long as u wear full jacket and trouser and stuff while cussioning ur fall with a bunch of rolls like that u could avoid fatal injuries. Back when i was i highschool i were practicing karate and did a lot of stunts for attraction, so i kinda learned the way to properly fall at many diferent angles, luckily that actually helped me when i was falling from my bike in college
@uncletigger Don't mind me just stealing this comment lmao
and this is why you don't fly with nav lights and a giant spotlight in war time
Mimics and Sentinels (Xmen DOFP) are overpowered and terrifying without uttering a single word. I love these kinds of monsters/aliens in movies so much
I was just thinking of the sentinel's 😅
One of the greatest movies I ever seen.
Always felt like we were cheated out of more fighting here, they kill off half of the dispensable characters off screen.
This clip is edited down, so we do see a little more action from J Squad
Da faqq u talkin bout? Makes no sense
we did, in the original cut of the movie we saw a prior attempt at this very mission until somoene kills the alpha, i would like to see that and also the version of the beach landing that does work in the end, but, figures.
They used to say many years ago that Howard Hughes was "nutz" for watching the movie "Ice Station Zebra" over and over again. I too thought he was crazy for doing that. Now I understand he was not "nutz". He just liked good movies.
I watched Ice Station Zebra a few months ago. Hadn’t seen it probably in 30 plus years. It was actually a good movie.
Wow, I just realized I haven’t seen this movie again since it came out....🤔 I need a rewatch😁
exactly me when i see mia khalifa
Low key one of Cruise’s best movies imo
3:00 reminds me of Matrix.
I wonder if there is a reality where he does a perfect clear without losing any lives in the army
Nah not even close. Doesn’t make sense how u can save someone on the other side of the battlefield either.
I love the premises of the movie !
@MadReaper Gaming You can't base a movie on something if it comes out earlier than the thing you base it on.
I have to hand it to him.. if he does his own stunts, that tumble @3:53 is impressive
This is good stuff
whew I thought I was watching the matrix for a second
yeah, clear similarities
So true. Much as i enjoy and appreciate this movie, they so clearly ripped off massively the matrix scenes and ideas.
kent yang i
no you didnt
@@rc2672 errr...rip off what? This movie is a dyed down version u know, it doesnt have tranformer budget that could animate a warhammer armor like with Rita wielding a giant battle axe like Escanor while fighting using momentum, inertia, and torque and shjts u know... Had it were granted the budget u will realize there is no rip off at all
Well played RUclips recommendations, well played...
This movie rocks
Who would win?
A Million mimics
or
a single rushing squad
Half of the squad was cannon fodder
The fucking balls to the wall action this movie had was insane. I really wish the time travel loop thing wasn't a factor and that conventional warfare was more successful, so we could get more action.
the time loop was the main reason it had as much action as it did.
That would have just taken away what made this film so unique though.
I wouldn't call it unique, It's more like Groundhog Day but with guns, aliens, and an extinction level event.
cody morris I
Are you kidding me? One of, if not arguably THE *main* / *primary* aspect of the movie is Cage dying and reliving the day over and over again.
How would 99% of the movie make ANY sense if the 'time time travel loop', something so INTEGRAL, was removed...? Are you forgetting the Omega?
I LOVE this movie!
"Luwr" It's The Louvre, I think
Loov
This movies is so underrated
This action scene is very similar to Matrix 3 action sequence with the machines
They probably reused it as a template.
I like bad guys who get the job done, and fucking hell do mimics get the job done. This film is extremely underrated.
I lost track of how many times I've watched this movie
Dude the score is legitimately fucking chilling dude
Most depressing thing is seeing “luwr” instead of Louvre
The gunner on the airship shooting to hold off the hordes of mimics reminded me of the hovercrafts fending off the hordes of sentinels in the matrix.
That gunner guy is my hero.
bollocks ...the most underrated word ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
When you spend several hours playing an assault mission until you think "Meh fuck it I'm going to do the stealth campaign"
At least they got rid of that durned pyramid. I've hated that object since the year it went up.
Why is this movie trending on my feed lol. I guess It want me to watch it again.
This scene reminds me of matrix revolution
0:42 this music sounds like it is straight out of Halo: Reach
Great subtitle. Correct. 👍🎥🎬🎭🎽💪🌎✈🚀🌟
I kid you not it turns itself into a boat.
FUNNIEST SHIT IVE EVER SEEN
It turned into a boat lol
Lol
The us nation knows everything
We're gonna need a bigger boat
Strapped in and ready to teach
They are realesing part 2 idk when but i know its in cinema in 2020 or 2021
When tom hold the shotgun and recoil it. bad ass moment of the movie
Luwr - it's Louvre.
"Ought ticked."
one of my all time favorite movies because Tom dies so often
Luwr battle - i thinks its Louvre Museum. as that nasty and all powerful omega made the Louvre Museum in Paris as its home. way below in the sewers though.
Honestly, if there was ever a movie sequel to the game CRYSIS 2, the director and production team behind Edge of Tomorrow should be the ones behind it.
I watch a few of these clips and then have to watch the movies
PLEASE change the name of the video. It's not Luwr, but Louvre
YES
okay he would be splattered
well thats one way to get through the tuileries
"luwr" :)
Movie: Edge of Tomorrow
Book: All You Need is Kill
Game: Savegame Exploit
As if i'm watching The Matrix all over again
The museum is called the "Louvre".
It feels like this is a simulator Xd
ПОЧЕМУ ТРЕТИЙ РОЛИК ЗАБЛОКИРОВАН?!
Groundhog Day + Rogue One
I find it weird that these mimics can shoot rockets
Its from the original story, apprently with those "javelins" they take out almost anything. They underuse them in the movie actually
There not rockets
Luwr! Haha
Is there a Sci fi movie like this, but Humans against Humans?
There is usually Humans vs some kind of Bots or monsters.
Nah I don’t think so. Closest would be cybernetically enchanced humans. I mean if you have a sci fi setting why stay on humans when you can add aliens?
world war I and II.
Battlefield 2142 did an amazing job. But thats not a movie tho.
the movie Soldier is the only one i can think of.
First season of Star trek discovery had a episode with the same theme. A heist instead of a war but with the same concept.
The first or second season of Deep Space 9 has an episode about two groups of enemies fighting that come back to life every time they die just to fight again
"Where's J squad? "
🤣🤣🤣
Wait, what? They came in with a searchlight beaming brightly on the ground? I never noticed that before.
No wonder they got shot down.
3:05 how badass do you need to be to use 2 giant guns, fall off the chopper but holding on to the guns to keep you from falling in alien invested waters and shoot at them exact same time?!
He sitting on the chair
This is not a choopeer it's Tiltrotor
Mechanical octopus from Matrix movies?
First of all, there is dialogue in this clip, it's not only action. Second, this film relies on the idea that everything else is predetermined and only one character's action matters. There must be scenarios in which he does all the "right" moves and yet because other people deviate from their optimal behavior, he loses anyway, and he should be waking up in those universes too.
If a normal soldier is killed and brought back, what If theres a soul,.. Crap! In concert live with Freddy Mercury, now got to go back to life!
Gun jams...!
the aliens look like ceph.
"Luwr"??? Seriously?
freakin risky mission
To see Paris, the City of Lights, pitch-dark, devastated and devoid of life is quite spooky. I always felt as though Paris is rock solid, to last for a million years.
Ok so the power of time travel vs the power of bullets.
The question is who shot all the rocket
Well in the comic, every single mimic is hard as fuck, u cant even scratch them without an anti tank rifle. They are heat resistant that your missiles wouldnt be so very effective. They also has many spikes that could be shot as projectile and could pierce thorough any bunker simply by the sheer mass and the kinetic force alone.
infiltrate enemy base, with light on? great idea
and a helicopter loud enough to be heard miles away
Do you know how dangerous it is to flow at night, in a city like Paris ? Without light you will be dead before fighting any thing, and the Mimic know they are coming anyway
@@giathuanleviet4138 night vision google.
@@rudinportilus3718 do you know that night vision google reduce your Field of view a lot
so let me tell you a story from my nation latest war - the Vietnam war
Back then people that got authorized to fly low altitude fly vehicle like Helicopter and CAS at night are mostly high skill and experienced pilot, and all they have to fly above are just jungle and they still getting risk to got rammed into hill and stuff just by slight mistake in navigation
And these people in the movie are flying through a city with many high building, and their mission hold the future of mankind, i thinh they rather take it with care than getting ram into some random building
And they fly in a helicopter, enemy will hear you even before they can see you
And the Mimic know they coming anyway
Fuck this was a great movie
I tgought I was going back 5hrew the stare gate are back to paradise ?
wait a minute, what happened to the short girl? she was next to that fat guy, but that's the last we see of her? and some other characters too. I kinda forgot about this movie so I think I have to watch it again.
@Ryan Orth such a shame, we didn't see her in action, really waiting for that kickass cute girl do some sort of damage. but just thrown away with a cheap death.
And you know... people die in war. It's not a fair thing, everyone can die at any minute.
They remind me of sentinels from the matrix. Possible different versions ?
No these aliens are not squid but slinkys
The edge of tomorrow
Ok?
Thank you captain obvious.
I'll see you next life..!
Healing potion: 0
Ammo: 0
Life: 0
so sad...😢
i feel so sad watching this T_T
Lol Firestorm after he quit the legends, and he died
Oh it’s a long way to tipperary
imagine being a gunner for those planes. SO screwed
What if Lt. Col. Bill Cage is actually dead but relives the war as a version of Hell?
🙄😧😲😯🤔
And what if... not?
