    On Today's Episode:
    There are so many people quietly suffering through mental health challenges these days. The world is in chaos and nothing seems to make sense. Having the drive, focus, and discipline you need to get after your goals can feel impossible when you're battling depression, anxiety, PTSD, or mood disorders.
    Dr. Dan Engle’s background is in integrative psychiatry, peak performance medicine and psychedelic research. His latest book, A Dose of Hope, he hopes to spread greater awareness and information about the value of MDMA which has been highly effective in treating PTSD.
    You or someone you care about is quite possibly suffering from PTSD or other mental health problems that more and more research is showing natural plant medicines to be effective in treating.
    This conversation is a masterclass on natural plant medicines that treat anxiety, depression and more.
    Check out Dr Dan Engle’s book, A Dose of Hope: www.amazon.com/Dose-Hope-Stor...
    QUOTES:
    “I think the experiential side drives the neurochemical side. It’s like the software experience drives the hardware experience.”
    “Rescuing somebody from their suffering may just be robbing them from their greatest teacher.”
    “Suffering isn’t the only way of learning, slowing down, and getting in touch with who we are.”
    “If I’m only going for the truth, I’m trying to bypass the feeling, then I may not be moving it through to a process of resolution.”
    “It’s recognizing the power of these medicines, who’s safe and ready to work with them, how do you prepare them really well to get ready for that experience, how do you try to optimize the efficacy of that experience itself…”

    It's been 3 years since I tried DMT, can't find a plug anywhere in my area. Back then, We used one of those vaporizers with the big bags. The first time I didn't do enough and I just seen shapes and colours. But the second time I managed to get another hit in before I got the light headed. I remember floating above the country side flying and then all of a sudden I zoomed down into a deer and went right inside of it and I was the veins and the blood and flowing through this deers body. It was very strange

      I think Tom was pressing for an even deeper insight during this section of the interview. I enjoyed it and wanted Tom to receive the insight he was seeking. From a section earlier I liked the tension between observing WHAT being expressed by Dan and Tom challenging the WHY. When we understand the WHY we can bring the mystical into the natural. We move forward. We have a lot of progress yet to make.

      It's like trying to describe what love feels like. You'll know it when you feel it, but all of the words in all of the languages combined can't describe it to the point where you can experience it through thought. It's just not a logical place to exist, yet at the same time it somehow all makes perfect sense.

You dominated the interview. You spoke more often than your guest. I didn't get to know your guest because you dominated the entire interview. Why even have him on your show? I have to respectfully disagree. I could see how some people might see it that way, but I can tell Tom is just super excited about digging in and diving deep into this fascinating topic. Also, Dr Dan Engle is more soft spoken. He talks slowly. It's interesting but I can see the interview leaning toward mundane to an outsider. To keep viewers excited even mid stream, Tom has to keep energy high.

You are then left with everything and nothing and you won't know if what you end up with is better or worst than what you were anchored to until you ride that wave, but you will know that there is far more beyond where you have been standing for a long time.!!! Spot on! I think people wanna go for the ride with fingers crossed. Having struggled with PTSD, anxiety and depression throughout my life I tried everything (meds, therapy, inpatient treatment, meditation). I was considering a trip to another country for euthanasia. Then I came across ketamine! I had the 6 infusions. Super helpful and I believe I had a spiritual awakening. Things got very clear for me as to what was important ( love) and what’s bullshit , keeping up with the Jones stuff. With each session it seemed the medication was drilling down to finer components of my brain. Final session was a conversation with a higher power . At the end , my brain seemed cleaned/ healed. It’s hard to explain but I feel I have a new baseline to work from. Now I’m getting integrative therapy with a psychologist and the work of healing is flowing.
    I speak to this topic as a patient and someone who provides psychiatric care to others.
    My concern is that it won’t last but I have hope.
    I would like to see the research continue with psilocybin but I don’t like the idea that everyone is ordering and grinding their own mushrooms managing without guidance. I felt reassured to have medical providers administering and monitoring my medications.
    Tomorrow I have my first tune up session of ketamine. It’s definitely changed my dharma direction.

    • @sea_ellef
      @sea_ellef Год назад +2

      Commenting here because they don't have a 'hug' on the like option. I can relate 100% to considering euthanasia as I've done the same in past dark moments. You are so brave for saying it on here. I wonder how many other people have felt the same hopelessness and can never say? I doubt there would be anywhere in the uk to ketamine, but I do hope they continue research into psylocibin options. However, could the real issue be that society just isn't designed for human health and well-being? Until we research what that means, I think more people will struggle. Very glad for you that you found a (hopefully) lasting solution. xx

    I think Tom should look into UVA research with kids recollecting past lives. Excellent point on the use of psychedelics for mental issues . I believe they are not some enlightening poetic gateway but are similar to what happens if you hit the nadir of a depression and survive it .
    There is an epiphany moment followed by the adaptation of a strengthening and freeing of the mind having given way to but endured that peak anxiety and not as such the magic and mysticism of the process . There is a Plato Cave type moment where because of that moment of focused peak anxiety being felt that rock bottom moment , a competence has been attained so that a person is confident should it happen again they could ride it out . Removing that aspect of fear is what frees the mind .

    A few thoughts in brief about this episode, which is full of mind blowing constuctive contrast.
    1. My theory on the "shrooms effect" is that it is doing to our neurons exactly what it does in nature, which is being the "conduit" between themselves and other organisms for a shared enlightened awareness . (Look it up).
    2. The bad trip vs the healing trip is not only a predisposition based on real life experience & beliefs, its also the reasons those predispositions exist in the first place.
    3. Both side of the argument, between the research about "past lives" vs "hallucinating an excuse" for not shaking the Dr's hand examples are plausible. My theory is based on documented research on mice that learned the path through a maze from their parents and grandparents experiences with that maze, before the siblings were born.

    If I were on my death bed I would rather have Engle by my side than Bilyeu. His self absorption and self greatness will be knocked down some pegs eventually. We all die and none of us get to escape that. I think Engle is a kind sweet man. I suffer from chronic pain and need a little spirituality and hope so thank you. I think he can stop himself from being emotional. I can't assign meaning to dead children. Before a Ukrainian soldier was shot by the enemy he had a cigarette and calmly smoked and said "Glory to Ukraine." It was beautiful and gave this soldier meaning to fight for freedom for his country.

    You guys are talking about the mushrooms like they are easy to get. Even in Oregon where they are working to make them more available it will be very expensive once available legally. So telling someone to "just try shrooms" is about as useful as telling them to "just become a millionaire". Money and health are heavy factors in most people's decisions to end it and if you really want to help them, give them the shrooms yourself instead of telling them to go on a difficult mission. Just a thought.

    • @YourCapyBruv_do_u_rmbr_3Dpipes
      @YourCapyBruv_do_u_rmbr_3Dpipes Год назад

      Well I'm sorry to hear they will be expensive but no doubt the big money interests are already sharpening their knives and trying to get in on the mooshrooms market. That's certainly what's happened in the Cannabis market in California. Many small suppliers, though not all but quite a few are being pushed out by big money elbowing in it's the same old story and it's pretty sad.
      It's not a hopeless case but local governments are conspiring with big money interests to make it harder and harder for the small weed shop to compete.
      Putting a big price tag as a gatekeeper is definitely what I was afraid of happening and I'm very dismayed to see it come to pass. All we can do is get organized and it's possible in a few years to change some laws try to get rid of it.

    A spiritual “practice” is a religion. Once you put the spiritual insights; the teachings into practice, it becomes your religion. It’s disingenuous to say you practice something that enriches your spirit and say it isn’t a religion.
