Kingston predator rgb 3200 cl16 2x8gb definitely c-die because I can't get low trfc, anyways my result is 3733 18-21-8-17-28-74 and trfc 600 with 1.34V dram voltage. I checked the stability with anta absolute and extreme MT5 configs no errors.
I have a Samsung C-die kit and can't get those timings to work? Any ideas for which ones to loosen to get it to be stable with minimal penalty for daily use?
does soc voltage requirement change when populating all 4 dimms? i just went from 2 to 4 with looser timings for my x3d chip. ive been having to run 1.38v to get it to run at the xmp speeds. should run at 1.35v. my soc is 1.1. would dropping soc help?
Well I did my first ram overclock after watching some of your videos a few weeks ago and I went from 3200mhz cl14 at 1.35v to 3533mhz cl14-15-14-14 at 1.42v. Gonna try to go further, it is samsung B die.
If you are confident you have B die, you can go as high as 1.5v for a daily overclock. If you increase the voltage and loosen the timings a bit you can probably hit 4000.
Bought used pc parts last year and got four mixed 8GB green PCB OEM 2400MHz CL17 (2 Samsung C-die & 2 Hynix AFR = not lucky) they run fine together at 3333MHz with 16-19-19-39 @ 1,332V, set TFaw at 20 and tRRD at 5/7. Not hardcore OC but I'm happy with that result from such poor parts, and mixed sets.
about voltage part, c die actually can handle higher voltage, but it has to be precise with specific freq/timing, cl lantency can go as low as 9ns with 1.4v, but under this condition, tight tfaw can cause unstable performance because of thermal, so hard to say it worth the effort
Cheap lpx 3000 c15 kit here I'm running it at 3600 17-21-21-41 with 1.389 in bios windows shows a bit higher s.a and i.o at 1.19v each refresh at 600 to many other settings to mention
I'm guessing I have Samsung C die. Been looking for my model number online (Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro CMW32GX4M2D3600C18) and haven't found anything relating to which die it has. Only found the one that has a "Z" instead of a "D" after "M2". It's also a bit hard to get/see my RAM sticks so I'm not 100% sure.
Many guys on Reddit are running asymmetric tRCD read and write. Obviously, these kits are not great, so you get what you get. But they end up with some strange timings like 3733@cl18-8wr-21rd-19rp-35ras-88rc.
Hi buildzoid, do you know if memory scores of Geekbench 3 x64 are comparable to Geekbench 4 x64? Not talking about overall scores here. I bought v4 recently and I am trying to understand where my RAM OC stands compared to the scores you are showing us at times. I can only compare with the Geekbench 3 trial but it's limited to x86 mode. Thanks!
@Supernova OK so does this mean you can confirm that Primate changed the scale and/or tests for the memory scoring between v3 and v4? Or is this empirical, i.e. you have full versions of both, benchmarked the same system(s) and got different memory scores?

Ok, so I have a 32GB Corsair Dominator Platinum CMT32GX4M2Z3600C14 3600MHz 14-16-16-36 1.45V kit, version 4.31. Taiphoon Burner doesn't identify what Samsung chips are used but according to a reviewer on NewEgg who opened up the module to check they're C-die as well. With my 3700X I can run these stable at 3733MHz 16-16-16-32 GDM OFF 1.35V; haven't tried going higher as FCLK can't do more than 1866MHz.
Those are Samsung B-die, Corsair Version 4.31 is always Samsung B-Die. I'm guessing the Newegg review was wrong due to the sale listing having options for different kits which also means there are reviews for different kits randomly on one page. Also, that specific speed bin could only be B-Die. That's a decent OC for daily after tweaking secondary and tertiary timings.

That is definitely Samsung b-die. My 5800X manages cl 16 3800 MHz with a cl14 3200 kit. The memory controller of your I7 7700k (though that one was pretty good i believe...) might be the limiting factor.

copy his settings on soc, dram voltage and timings?
any chance to get advice for a 4x8 kit (5600X on x570 unify)? looking for an (at least) 3600 "set and forget" kit with somewhat decent timings. really like the crucial ballistix, but they only come in 2x8... worth "risking getting 2 of those? the unify should be able to handle it, right?
All crucial 8GB sticks should still be Rev E, so it should be fine to get 2 separate 2x8GB kits.
did bz delete my comment asking about buying a 1080ti kpe, wtf?
Probably youtube actually
My 3200 C16 kit boots at 4000 C19 but at 1.4v and only makes it 35 minutes into occt lol
So i have 2x8 of C-die and i feel like it is indeed a complete disaster. It boots 3400 17-20-20-40 1T GDM off but not stable, since i'm dailying it right now i just dropped it to 3333 and called it a day. I once tried 3600 with super loose timings and had to clear CMOS to get back into BIOS, it would crash every time otherwise... Good thing i got it for super cheap, because i think even for C-die that's some terrible memory.
What is your CPU? Mine it booted only at 3400 with r5 1600af. And now it fully stable at 3733C18 with a r5 5500
For me Cdie from 3200C16 to 3733C18 trrdsl 4 4 16 1.28V fully stable. 3800 possible but random 1 error after random times. 64ns
My C-dies do 3800-18-18-22-22-44-66-608-2T@1.35V
Hei man. I had 3 pairs of Corsair (C-Die) 2x32GB 3200mhz sticks that I kept returning back to amazon.
They were stupidly awful, and at random the PC would just click off and reboot, even ad JEDEC speeds.
I tried a lot, but still that small instability was still present, memtest wasn't detecting anything.
2x32 is probably 16gb c-die dual rank, probably different die
@@TheJAADF here the thaiphoon dump i.redd.it/ua1faqz10vx51.png
I shall add that I switched to Micron 3600mhz sticks in november (same 2x32) and they're stable and faster
Yeah, 16gbit/die, different thing ;) Micron 32gb kits are on rev B which is really nice and puts low load at memory controller
never knew you could run memtest in windows..
That's weird, i got 2x8Gb tridentz F4-3200C16D-16GTZR samsung c-die with my 3700x
It's refuse to go at 3600 with 1.35v but no issue with 1.4V ^^"
I can go with 16_19_19_19_39_59 (16_19_16_17_39_59 was the lowest i got) but impossible to go under 550 for trfc :/
That's hynix CJR
@@ActuallyHardcoreOverclocking ah sh*t... i checked with thaiphoon and it showed me samsung....
@@ActuallyHardcoreOverclocking well thanks for your reaaaaaly quick answer anyway ^^"
it really make me wonder if my 3200 cl 14 -14 -14 - 34 gskill trident kit is B - die or C - die,taiphoon burner says it's B - die but i began to doubt about it since i can't go past 3733 cl 17 - 17 - 17 - 38 at 1.37 volts.
or it is because of my motherboard and cpu wich is an i7 7700k oc at 4.9 ghz at 1.34 volts,i can't obtain 5 ghz stable with this chip, even delided with liqud metal tim,and i wonder if what limiting the memory oc is the memory controller of the cpu or the motherboard, it's T topology and the bios list a max frequency of 4266 mhz,but i can't even pass 3733, even at 2 volts so...
Bdie, trcd Is Low.
it can't be anything else.
That is definitely Samsung b-die. My 5800X manages cl 16 3800 MHz with a cl14 3200 kit. The memory controller of your I7 7700k (though that one was pretty good i believe...) might be the limiting factor.
I have the same ram and cpu, running mine at 3600 15 15 15 35, again Icouldn't get past 3733 either... 4.9 looks to be the limit of my 7700k too.
1.37 on ram? Give him 1.5
A lot of Z170/270 boards kinda suck at RAM OC.
Buildzoid is MY bestfriend:)
finally
I have gskill 3200 cl16 18 18 36 dual ranks 16×2gb and now i reached 3400 cl16 20 20 40 , and not stable on 3600cl 18 22 22 42 but i think its possible make it stable, but hard cause im on b450 board
try with PBO and Gear Down off, 3600 CL 18 22 22 42.... works to me with a hyperx predator 3200 cl 16 18 18 36 - 2x 8GB
Wow, that C-die is rotten, i have a 2x16gb dual rank kit of e-die from early 2019 i overclocked to 3600 and its primaries are closer to b-die compared to that hot mess.
Been running fine after memtest validating shortly after tuning almost 2 years ago.
Grab an MFR kit and you'll see what ass performance looks like...
@@Olivia-W literally lol. hynix mfr 32gb @ cl 16 won't overclock even to 3300mhz at any voltage between 1.35 and 1.5v, at any timings, etc. and can't even bring tRCD down by 1 without it bluescreening
I’m surprised you didn’t blow up that “c” die. Pretty much the worst ic’s of all ram out there.
👍
Do you have a Discord yet???
no
@@ActuallyHardcoreOverclocking maybe next year?
yay i have c die
I once got b die chips in a 3000mhz kit of Corsair vengeance lpx 2x8gig
I tried overclocking it on ryzen 3600 with dram calculator safe profile
And couldn't even get to 3200 mhz
@@evgenidimitrov2639 maybe it's just very bad bin b die?
