"Worst thing about this machine is that you cant have the looper and the drum machine at the same time." - Thanks!! you just saved me $80-100 + Shipping!! I wanted the use the drum beats and build loops on top. Will have to look for another unit.
That's awesome man. I'm 12 years old, and am playing sharped dressed man by zz top, and wanted to try and add the drums into it, and this tutorial was great. Thanks!
@paulmetalcore : Hi the loop was done by me but the drum pattern comes with the unit. The patch I am playing through for most of the clip is almost stock as well. I believe I just added reverb. Hope this helps!
@Supabohs Yes, you are correct. You can record another layer over top of the loop you recorded as many times as you want (no limit). Then at any point in that process you can play over top of it without recording what you are playing (like an improvised solo)
@266131 Thanks for your kind words - Unfortunately you cannot use the drums while using the looper. To get around that you would need to use a looper pedal after the RP155. However the Zoom G3 does have the ability to use drums and looping at the same time and has a 40 second looper. It is currently the only stand alone product on the market that can do this I believe. It also sounds as good or better than the RP units.
@MrWhoTookMyName Yes - you can scroll up or down and changes patches while the loop is running. I believe you need to hold in the Left foot switch for a few seconds to scroll down.
I get the drums when i have it connected to my amp but i cant seem to get any sound out of the guitar ive tried usb and different aux cords for input and still nothing
Yes - if you mean looping a sound in the middle of another loop. You can record at any point in the previous loop, it doesn't have to be in the beginning. Hope this helps!
@abadmancheno I don't know of a modeler that does that. I owned the M9 and have the G3 now. You can use the drums at the same time as looping with the G3 and its a steal for 199. Sounds like you would need a separate looper for your needs.
Thanks! I think it was Am to G to C, then D, but I think I switched it around some too. Also on guitar some of the chords are "open" meaning mainly the G B and E strings aren't fingered as part of the chord sometimes those open string notes get thrown in.
The manual should cover how to do those things, I found it very thorough and it is on their website. I believe you hold the left switch down to exit the looper like I did @2:38 and you can then use drums fine. If you can't, you might want to try updating or reloading your firmware. Adjusting the effects should be just a matter of going into edit mode and setting the mix or frequency.
Yes - you just need to download the driver from the digitech site and it should show up as an audio device. You just need to select it for recording like any other sound card.
@andersonmatthewb Hi, twenty seconds is the maximum for a loop. Also the drums do not work when looping mode is engaged. You can only use one or the other.
@abadmancheno There really is no saving the loop. With the RC2 you can save the loop, power off and play it again another day. With multi-effects units the loopers dont do that. Once you exit looper mode or power the unit off, the loop you recorded goes away. So for that reason there are no drums or metronome while a loop is playing or in looper mode.
@altermann1ify Yes, computer speakers will be usable but not great. You may need to go through the headphone out. Try the normal line out if you can though, it should give you a slightly better sound. Through an amp, make sure the push button in the back is properly set to either go through an amp or direct. You would want to set it to direct to go through computer speakers.
I would definitely send you some but I don't have the unit anymore. I would often take a factory preset that I thought sounded in the neighbor hood and then add an OD pedal in the matrix if I wanted more gain. Start with the gain low and the tone about halfway and go from there. I will be doing more videos on tone construction in the future which would apply to all devices. Cheers!
Once you exit looper mode or turn the pedal off, the loop is erased. All multi-effect pedals that have a looper function do this (thatI know of). If you need something to save the loop, you need a dedicated looper like the Boss RC units, Boomerang, etc. If you just want drums with your loops the new Zoom G3 does this.
@eriwebnerr Hi, it seems that the G3 is the closest. It has USB, looper, and modeling with three different stomp boxes at the same time with on/off switches with only one adapter and the ability to change the effects. Too bad it does not have storage capabilities for the looper. I might just upgrade to an RC3 which has 99 spots. thank you for your responses
Hi, Yes you can! Sorry if I didn't mention that. There is unlimited overdubbing in the 20 second looper. Only limitation is that you can't run the drum beats inside the unit at the same time as the looping
@MetallicaFan4ever5 Yes, you can have several effects active at the same time. Which is impressive for a unit this price. In addition to the amp / cab, I believe you can have a pickup simulation, compressor, overdrive, EQ, modulation/filter, delay, and reverb
@eriwebnerr thank you. I am looking to simplify, so ideally I would be looking for a modeler that has a loop with storage space and does not take have of your room or the stage. I wonder if the Zoom G3 or the Line 6 M9 have those capabilities. Also, I want to be able to be in sync with my computer to record with software. I know it is a lot to ask, but I am sure that some manufacturer will come up with an affordable option soon, if they have not done so already. thanks for the answer
@eriwebnerr Thanks for your reply. I heard about Zoom G3 but I have never seen it in local music shops (Russia). It's pretty new model. So I have never heard live the sound of it. Have you?
@malfom1 Hmm - it shouldn't do that. What does it do if you record a loop shorter than 20 seconds? I would try loading (or reloading) the latest firmware for it. You should make sure to backup all of your patches first so you can reload them afterwards.
Hi, you say you can not use the looper and drums at the same time. Can you play the drums once you have saved the loop. Is there any kind of metronome you can use with the looper. One last question, how many loops can you store in the RP155? thank you, I have a boss rc2, and I love it but I can only record 13 tracks, and of course I have a separate effects modeler
Hello. This one has worked so well, but now sound is so low...the ac adaptor is not working anymore. I have tried with another one. I try with US also. Can hear the drums but sound is low, is this pedal dead ? The différent effects are working but it's like the amp inside is not working anymore. Any suggestion ?
Hi there - sorry to hear. I don't have this unit longer but I would say if it is generally working but you just cant hear the amps, then it must be a setting and the unit probably is ok. If all the sound is low then the unit probably has a problem. I would look for a global level setting for the amps or the amp model you have selected in the patch. Hope that helps :)
@@eriwebnerr Thank you for supporting. Very appreciate your help. All sound is low, all patches amps, delay, etc...all sound effects are ok... so it's the unit. I can't compare to the G2.1, but I do have a Zoom G3. They are very close sonically, but I would say that the G3 is a bit better. Unfortunately no - the USB lets you record the guitar tones into your computer and I believe lets you even hear the output from your computer (effectively working like a sound card). You could run a drum beat into the device and record it as part of your loop or to the computer. But it might not sound great as it would get processed by the guitar amp sims and be of limited use.

Yes this is an awesome pedal for sure! You need a USB A/B cable to connect it. Hey Raphael, I never had an issue like that with this unit but I did have what you describe with a Line 6 M9. If you are willing to take a little risk it might be worth opening the unit up. A lot of times these cheaper digital units will use a plastic mechanical switch to touch a smaller contact on the circuit board. If you find it's just a problem with the switch mechanism and not the circuit board, you can usually rig something up to make it work. Hope it works out!
You can. The unit is designed for guitar and meant to take an instrument level signal. But if you turn the amps off and keep your synth volume low going in, you can use the drums and looper with the synth. You could also use the effects on the unit with the synth (like reverbs, filters, etc.) if you like.
worst thing about this machine is that you cant have the looper and the drum machine at the same time also once you come out of looper and you want to try drums i find on mine it will not play drums unless you pull out the plug and re-start it again maybe theres some way of effortlessly moving between looper and drum machine but ive never found it..........can anyone run me thru how you adjust the effect as most im told are set in an extreme mode at the factory the instructions are poor also
thats bad.. i thought i could use it as a cheap looper for stage, studio and at home.. but if its more made for modelling etc its nothing for me.. but thanks for the quick response !
@altermann1ify Hello mate! Yes! And if you have a computer i'll advice you to download Guitar Rig 4, and play with USB input into the pc. With that you can use a very vast amount of cabinets. that's the way that i actually do! You can also plug in headphones, or even pc speakers. (Any information send me a P.Message)
i bought this im disappointed by the sounds theres about 90 of them most sound synthetic but they generally fall into 2 brackets kinda fuzzy or bright acoustic... some effects are just corny.... with the looper i always seem to get a delay on it so it dosnt join up properly so it sounds not good (maybe theres an art to it) i find the drum machine hard to access also the instructions are naff

A lot of times these cheaper digital units will use a plastic mechanical switch to touch a smaller contact on the circuit board. If you find it's just a problem with the switch mechanism and not the circuit board, you can usually rig something up to make it work. Hope it works out!
Thanks for the feedback. I did open up the back board but it seems there must be a hidden screw to remove the circuit board.
Can you disable amp/cab and use just effects?
Veljko Blagojevic Hi there - yes you can :)
Can i use this function with a keyboard/synth (motif)
You can. The unit is designed for guitar and meant to take an instrument level signal. But if you turn the amps off and keep your synth volume low going in, you can use the drums and looper with the synth. You could also use the effects on the unit with the synth (like reverbs, filters, etc.) if you like.
is it true bypass ?
No, not on this unit. That is possible on the Zoom G3 though and you can map the loop to the beat if you want.
i suppose my 150 doesnt has this function
how can i high the tempo bro ?
I can't do this

worst thing about this machine is that you cant have the looper and the drum machine at the same time also once you come out of looper and you want to try drums i find on mine it will not play drums unless you pull out the plug and re-start it again maybe theres some way of effortlessly moving between looper and drum machine but ive never found it..........can anyone run me thru how you adjust the effect as most im told are set in an extreme mode at the factory the instructions are poor also
you can lay down the drums in say cubase and then put the guitar over.
Unfortunately no - you would need a dedicated looper pedal for that.
@arfurlife Thanks man!
@Jmhr19 My voice or my playing? Hehe just kidding ..
Thanks man
you setup sounds very clapton
thats bad.. i thought i could use it as a cheap looper for stage, studio and at home.. but if its more made for modelling etc its nothing for me.. but thanks for the quick response !
@eriwebnerr thanks a lot! I found it. :)

@eriwebnerr Ok cheers thanks!
i bought this im disappointed by the sounds theres about 90 of them most sound synthetic but they generally fall into 2 brackets kinda fuzzy or bright acoustic... some effects are just corny.... with the looper i always seem to get a delay on it so it dosnt join up properly so it sounds not good (maybe theres an art to it) i find the drum machine hard to access also the instructions are naff
you sound like santana
